#2 of 10 hotels in Great Barrington
Briarcliff is an authentic 1960’s motel which has been transformed into a contemporary, stylish motor lodge for the 21st century traveler. Complete with a roaring pellet stove in the lobby common area, a daily rustic continental breakfast and an outdoor fire pit which brings families, friends and strangers together, Briarcliff harkens the return of the great American family road trip. We are located directly across the street from Monument Mountain, one of the Berkshires most popular natural landmarks, five minutes from Great Barrington and Stockbridge, and under 15 from Tanglewood.

We stayed here for 2 nights and were completely happy. No frills, clean, efficient, great breakfast voucher to use at The Red Lion Inn ($12 p/p), and a great (&quiet) location. Contactless check in/out and texted with Ronda before, during, and after the trip. She was quick to reply each time. We had room #1 and it looked exactly like the pictures online. There is so much to see and do in the Berkshires that this was a perfect choice for us as we were out all day each day! The mini fridge was handy and I love the walk in shower! I've already recommended BM to friends and family and will certainly stay here again too someday.

We stayed one night in August and had a fine stay. The room was a motel room, but a rather *nice* motel room and a comfy bed. They offered a meager breakfast on-site, but they also offered a $12 voucher for breakfast at the Red Lion a few miles up the road. I'd stay there again.

We arrived the day that hurricane Henri was making landfall on the Rhode Island coast. We had departed from southeastern Massachusetts early to beat out the rain and arrived in Great Barrington early that morning. We called to see if we could check in early and they said that we could probably get into our room by 1:00 pm and they would contact us when the room was ready. We were able to check in early, before the heavy rains started, which was very nice. The room was clean, but no frills. This place is billed as an old motel that has been upgraded with a “retro” feel. The feel is there, but the upgrades are pretty basic. Tiny tv on the wall is smaller than most computer screens, and it had a bunch of wires hanging under it. The security bar on the back of the door was broken. Just little things but easy fixes that would make a world of difference. It was fine for the one night we stayed, but there is definitely room for improvements.

This review is way overdue. The Briarcliff has been a true escape for me over the course of the last 18 months. A highly accessible and spectacular location, complemented by comfortable rooms and a phenomenal staff. The fact that you can drive up to your room, access via truly contactless means provides a sense of comfort in these crazy times. You control the level of interaction with others, which is great. This place truly is dog friendly. Love that the rooms have a little corner mat for food and water bowls. The rooms are spacious, which is sideways good. The property is fantastic, lush green and borders the woods. For those with less than ideal tick protection, there is plenty of paved land to enjoy. This truly is a differentiator which in my opinion makes the Briatcliff motel one of the best doggo vacation hotels in the northeast. I'm really excited to see how Rhonda and rest of the Briarcliff team further evolve the offering. Plenty of cool things coming up!

The pleasure has been ours, thank you for writing such a wonderful review. We appreciate all our guest reviews and hearing that Briarcliff is such a special place to you brings a smile to our faces. It is extremely rewarding to know that we are able to provide a tranquil escape for you and your pet. Being a Pet Friendly Motel is a great source of pride for us. We understand that it is not easy to find pet friendly lodging and we truly love dogs. We are also looking toward the future and what amazing things it will bring to Briarcliff. We are grateful to have you and your doggo as our regular guests.

I was looking to travel to the Berkshires for just one night with my dog (a 50 pound lab mix). This motel was dog friendly and wasn't charging a pet fee (like other hotels in the area were) so I thought I'd give it a try. I was very pleasantly surprised that it was perfect for our needs. Very clean, in a great location between two little towns, you could park right outside your door, and there was plenty of open, grassy space for me to walk my dog. Check in was contactless, but very easy. I do wish more information had been provided about check out. Check out was also contactless, but I wasn't sure of the procedure and I wasn't aware that the lobby didn't open until 7:30 AM (I am an early riser and was out the door before 7:00 AM). You also can get a breakfast voucher for the hotel (The Red Lion Inn) down the street. The voucher is provided at The Red Lion Inn so you don't actually have to get it at the Briarclff (which I didn't know). Just be aware that the breakfast is a sit down breakfast (not a typical hotel breakfast buffet). Because I had my dog with me, they were nice enough to package my breakfast to go. I would definitely stay at the Briarcliff again if I am ever back in that area!

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a thoughtful and informative review. Since we have had several information updates during the everchanging times of COVID we are in the process of updating our Breakfast/Room information once again. We do have a 24 hour number for questions posted in the rooms and on our lobby front door for additional information. We are grateful that you were able to travel and stay here with your pet. Because it is our experience that happy owners have happy pets.
