We spent three nights at the Briarcliff. We had our two daughters and dog with us. The staff was super friendly and helpful. They provide a simple but nice breakfast. The room was adorable...we had a king bed and our daughters slept on on air mattress. It was a little tight for all of us but we made it work. We enjoyed the area restaurants, snowboarding, and snowshoeing. It was a convenient and quiet location and a very reasonable rate.
Very cute, clean and comfortable motel that has been redone with a retro vibe. This is not a tacky roadside motel. Great landscaping with birch trees and right down the road from Great Barrington, yet surrounded by woods. The breakfast is very good, with real Greek yogurt and unsweetened granola, hard boiled eggs, delicious baked goods, and coffee. There are other goodies too, but this is what I focused on. Very best of all, there are metal forks, spoons, and knives! And real bowls and mugs (no funky styrofoam). I generated zero trash! Excellent! We have been traveling around for a while now, and finally, I find a hotel that does not generate massive amounts of trash with plastic this and plastic that. (This is a glowing review, but I am not a friend or a relative. :))
Briarcliff is an updated modern representative of the 1960s - era travel motel. Rooms are large and well outfitted, with cool retro touches. Large windows open to the front and back of property. Views of mountain, close to numerous hiking trails and nearby skiing. Evening by the fire pit looked inviting, but weather didn't agree. Complimentary healthy breakfast and welcoming common areas. Friendly and helpful staff.
We stayed here to attend the Norman Rockwell Christmas celebration in Stockbridge. We had stayed at the Red Lion Inn a month earlier, and we found the Briarcliff Motel through some of the literature in our room at the Red Lion. They are managed by the same hotel group. They did such a great job renovating the Briarcliff. It's fun, funky Art Deco. We had 2 rooms, which adjoined, each with 2 beds. They've kept some of the original bathroom fixtures and tiles which is very cool. The rooms were clean, neat and tidy. Beds were comfortable. The room rate includes continental breakfast with homemade scones, juice, yogurt, cereal, and some pretty good coffee (I think it was from the Great Barrington Coffee Company?). The front desk hospitality was top notch. Very friendly and informative! I'd give it 5 stars, but don't want to mislead anyone as to the type of property it is (converted motor lodge vs. hotel/inn). We will definitely be back!…
Quiet room, very clean, fun and simple decor, big room, vintage motel vibe. Breakfast in gathering room featured local baked goods (recommend the chocolate chip scone with a hint of orange zest) and local coffee + more. Welcoming gathering space by pellet stove fire. Good WiFi. Helpful and friendly (but not intrusive) hosts. Has the feel of a place where one is hosted, rather than being transactional. Already planning our next visit.
