We stayed at the Briarcliff Motel for a few weeks in June while visiting family. It was quiet, had beautiful views, large and comfortable beds, delicious breakfast, and retro decor in the clean and air conditioned rooms. And, it was the BEST pet-friendly motet that we had ever stayed in. It had a HUGE area for dogs to run around in and I was also able to jog around the long driveway and up the back hill as well during our stay! But, the best part of the experience was Rhonda and her amazing staff (and her two Boston Terriers)! Rhonda welcomes you into her motel with open arms will do whatever it takes to make your stay a pleasant one. She makes you feel like family and has some great stories to tell. The fire pit with s’mores at night made was a nice touch - especially for my grandson! Thank you, Rhonda! We hope to see you again next year!…
Excellent little motel right across from monument mountain. Freshly updated, spacious clean rooms, nice continental breakfast, very dog friendly, and a beautiful green space very welcoming after a long day in the car.
Rhonda runs a great little respite at the base of Monument Mtn. Her hospitality is bar none: between the amazing bfast spread and coffee, the friendly conversation and remembering the little quirks and needs of her regulars, she is an innkeeper that raises the bar for others.
We had a lovely stay at The Briarcliff Motel in Great Barrington, theBerkshires, Massachusetts. The shower was nice and hot, the towels were nice and thick. The beds were very comfy with cozy linens. We requested adjoining rooms snd the rooms were ready on our arrival. The rooms were very clean. There was a cool fire pit with chairs to enjoy the fire. There was a nice dog chain in the front yard that we were able to hook our dog’s leashes onto so they enjoyed some freedom. The breakfast was very nice, delicious coffee, fresh fruits, oatmeal, etc. The people who work there are very warm and thoughtful. The motel is close to the Norman Rockwell Museum and the Stockbridge Botanical Gardens. We highly recommend this lovely motel.
This is a very nice no frills motel. They are dog friendly and that is what is so important to us. The room was very clean. Towels were abundant and large. The little frig and microwave in the room are nice touches as was the soap and shampoo dispensers. Contactless check in and out are also a plus. We would stay here again. This is a rather expensive area and the price at the Briarwood is reasonable.
We were looking for a getaway with friends and had a great trip with side by side rooms for two families. Started the days with breakfast at the motel and then headed out to ski near by. Coming back in the evening we enjoyed s'mores by the fire, and spending down time in the lobby in the evening. Rhonda the Inn Keeper was an excellent host, who helped to personalize the experience. We will happily come back again if we have the opportunity!!
The location of Briarcliff Motel can’t be beat - base of Monument Mountain, close to downtown Great Barrington and Stockbridge - but that will be the best part of my review. Their sister property is the historic Red Lion Inn and they are both owned by the same group. So we expected more, a lot more from the Briarcliff Motel. The pictures posted on their website did not match our room - our room felt unfinished. We had two rattan chairs with no cushions on them so the were extremely uncomfortable and unusable. No headboard. The installation of a “closet” area wasn’t even complete. Visible wires hanging down from the tv - put a piece of furniture there to hide them! See pictures below. The room was not cleaned very well - cob webs everywhere, pink mold in the toilet which means no one has scrubbed it in a very long time. Stains on the carpet. We even found a hair - brown about 2 inches in the sink! I have shoulder length blonde hair and my boyfriend shaves his head! We had a cracked toilet seat that was so bad it pinched me several times when I attempted to use the bathroom. We also had a broken extension cord so one of the lights next to the bed was not functional. When I texted Rhonda, the inn keeper about both of these things, there was no apology. The was no attempt to fix either or make them right. No offer to change rooms. She even implied that the cracked toilet was OUR FAULT. See screen shot of text message below. And then there was Rhonda who we found to be cold, uncaring and just rude. In addition to her lack of any attempt to rectify the issues mentioned in the previous paragraph - when we went to the lobby for coffee - she barely looked up from her computer to stay good morning to us or inquire about our stay. She made no attempt to apologize for the issues we had in our room or make it right during our stay. I texted her to ask a question about the breakfast credit at the Red Lion Inn and her response was “if you read the information sheet in the room then…” Someone should inform Rhonda that she should not speak to costumers that way and she should be more engaging with the people who are staying at the motel. Be kinder. Just a little kindness goes a long way. In the end she did refund us $20 for the issues with the room but that was not communicated to me. It was simply deducted from our final bill and I found out when the bill was emailed to me after checkout. There are lots of other inns in the Berkshires. I highly recommend you stay in one of those!!…
We were looking for a family friendly spot close to Butternut ski area that was pet friendly. Briarcliff checked all the boxes! Innkeeper Rhonda was wonderful throughout - from reservation to check-out, such a welcoming and helpful presence. We booked a double bed room and found it to be clean and comfortable. We took advantage of the continental breakfast in the lobby each morning and ate dinner both nights at the Barrington Brewery just up the street. Our kids enjoyed taking a dip in the heated pool at the Red Lion. Overall a thoroughly enjoyable weekend - can't wait to go back!
Briarcliff is a gem. A lovely mountain view welcomes guests. It is set back from the sounds of route 7. Lots of green (or white ❄️) for the 4 legged guests. The rooms are just as nice as their pictures. Rhonda and her team are super friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Today she was innkeeper and mechanic, helping a guest’s malfunctioning auto. Coffee and breakfast with fellow guests in the morn is a great way to start the day. You can walk to the woods from your room. Or about 3 miles to Stockbridge, Great Barrington or nearby donuts. It was a lovely visit and I look forward to the next one.
Hello! I have to say that this little gem in GB is the best place to stay in the area. Not only is it dog friendly but the host is a straight up awesome hostetss with the mostess. The rooms are clean the property is well maintained and you can't beat a free breakfast treat (muffins) and a cup of joe in the mornings. I've been there a couple of times and both experiences have been well received. It's in the perfect location in the beautiful Berkshires. You have downtown Great Barrington down the road with little places to nosh along thee way and then you have Lenox, MA around the way as well. I highly recommend a stay here. Comfy clean rooms and a very cool staff that are more than happy to help with fresh clean towels and great recommendations to any hiking or fun eating spots. Have a great time! I'll definitely be back soon!!!! Thank you Rhonda!…
