Harbour View is a beautiful boutique hotel in a perfect location overlooking the water. It is very tastefully decorated and our junior suite was really lovely. The staff are first class and very courteous and friendly. Many are Eastern Europeans and Jamaicans. Rosemary, the concierge, is exceptional. She is a very sweet and gracious lady with a beautiful smile. She is very experienced and competent and immediately puts you at your ease. We could not have asked for better attention. Vuk, the barman, is a really class act. He is a delightful person and a real asset for this very classy establishment. Not only is he excellent at his job, but he is also very warm, friendly and easy to talk to. We had a wonderful 3 night stay and were genuinely sad to leave. A last minute change in our plans led us to the Martha's Vineyard and, to our great fortune, The Harbor View Hotel. The resort is meticulously maintained and absolutely lovely. We stayed in a two story cottage which was perfect for our family of 5. It offered just enough privacy yet was only feet away from the pool, main hotel, and activities. The staff goes out of their way to make your stay as smooth as possible - without pretense or excessive formality that you'd find in a big city - you really feel they are invested in you having the best vacation possible. This includes the ever-knowledgeable concierge Allison who managed our ferry travel, restaurant reservations, island activities and bike rentals. She is amazing! Kudos also to Valerie in the restaurant for entertaining our kids. Everything was thought of, from the warm welcome we received at check-in with some surprises for the kids to making sure we made it back on the ferry after we checked out. We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel restaurant, Bettini, which were the best meals we had on the island. In short, this place is very special. We look forward to returning later in the summer!…

Spent a few nights at the Harbor View Resort in Martha’s Vineyard. The hotel is located about a 1/4 mile from town ; an easy walk. Main building is upfront with sea views. Behind are a number of smaller buildings with no view around the pool. We stayed initially upfront with a beautiful harbor view. Room was nice; although the air conditioning died on the last day and for some reason staff was slow to respond. However, once engineer showed problem was detected and fixed. Food in the restaurant was decent. Service was attentive. Nice to sit on the balcony in front of hotel and watch action in harbor. Due to a jet blue flight cancellation, we had to check back in the hotel for another night. We were put in building behind the main one. Our second room was the antithesis of the first. Very low ceiling (7 feet), no view and lots of noise. Walls and ceiling are thin so every word, step, and tv channel were heard in our room. Although less expensive than the first room, the difference did not make up for the quality of life gap. In the end, the stay was fine. I would certainly recommend staying in the main building and get a harbor view if going to the property. If only option is staying in one of the buildings behind the main building, I would suggest staying elsewhere. Lots of nice options on the island.…

We have stayed at this hotel many times. It was always wonderful, hence why we returned. This stay was TERRIBLE. We booked a 2 bedroom townhouse suite for our family of 5. Price tag was hefty...$3,000 a night. Everything about our stay lacked. This is now a glorified Holiday Inn. Nothing is worth the price tag. Restaurant service is bad, housekeeping is bad, concierge service is bad, beds are bad, manager (Scott Little) is bad, maybe the worst. I wrote him, he made comments about improving our stay, and never followed through, What a waste of a beautiful property.

What a perfect stay for our family. My wife and I, and our adult children spent 3 beautiful days at the Harbor View. Rooms were perfectly sized, clean and comfortable. Short walk into town where we had some very nice dinners. Highly recommend!

Went to stay at Harbor View hotel in July for family vacay. The hotel and area are gorgeous. Well maintained grounds and friendly people. However when you are spending over 2400 dollars a night for a cottage I expect the housekeeping to be up to par. Noticed on second day , clearly didn’t even vacuum the Rooms , sand and dirt on them then I found a piece of candy in sofa , not ours by the way , so clearly didn’t even clean sofa from prior guests. Then following day came back from beach , we all had to shower before dinner and no one had even serviced the room. It was 5pm. That’s when I called front desk and of course told them of the problem. The response of the front desk was that they are short staffed , but could they send some shampoo and shower gel. What ? That was not the correct response of what is to be the nicest hotel on island. I mean connect me to the manager , at least show that you will have this taken care of , something other than the response I received. I asked for manager myself , waited and waited finally I called and I got front office manager who said she was just going to call me … really. I told her to now hold off until we were at dinner to clean room and just to send some towels. But whatever , when we returned from dinner everything was clean. However no follow up from manager, was ever received. I have stayed at many hotels and follow ups or some thing that Good management does , when a guest is dissatisfied with a service , caused by their staff , I got no call. That to me said it all. Poor management. Food was mediocre at best. I wanted to love this property. The. Cottages were very pretty but the management and staff were not good. The concierge seemed nice and knowledgeable , told us where to go but never offered to make reservations or actually do anything. Her vibe was almost passive aggressive. Whole family thought the same thing. We are not uptight people either but Like I said if you spend this much a night , you expect a certain level of service. Not going back there.…

I honestly expected a bit more. There’s nobody when you arrive. We had a bunch of luggage that I loaded onto a cart and brought up the stairs to reception. After a basic credit card swipe in exchange for a room key, I navigated the hotel with our luggage to the room. Poor service. I paid for a water front room and we’re across the street with a distant view of the water. No balcony, just two dirty windows. Overpriced, overrated and underwhelming. I’m hoping to check out early and find another hotel but their 45 day policy may keep us trapped here. Plenty of better options on the Vineyard. The AC does not dip below 74. Warm and muggy in the room. The engineer came by to tell me it will cool off, eventually. It’s been hours and I’m not exactly hopeful. What a disappointment. The staff couldn’t care less which is probably my biggest issue.…

Dear In-house Guest, Thank you for your candid opinion and judgments. We are very sorry that Harbor View Hotel is not to your liking. After having spoken with the staff and managers who you have encountered during your visit it seems there are other matters distracting your party from enjoying our hotel and the team who are passionate about our guest's comfort and happiness. All of the air conditioning at our property works flawlessly as it is state-of-the-art environmental controls. On the island, we have an elevated sense of responsibility to the environment, and as such, our AC controls are set to normal for vacant status, and when guests arrive you can control the room to be as cold as they like upon setting their temperatures. Your room was pushing air at 54 degrees when last checked. At the time of your arrival, there were no less than seven reception staff on duty and were present receiving and tending to you and many other guests. We regret that you were not served in a proper way and consistent with our elevated hospitality standards. With regard to our staff, I am sorry but I take exception to the characterization of our 240 members of staff, who this season are hailing from over 23 countries and bring with them international and domestic smiles and elevated service for every guest. They are proud of their training according to the Forbes Travel Guide Standards each year and truly delight in anticipating our guest's needs and ensuring our guests make great island memories. While we never take our beloved hotel for granted, great hospitality remains at the core of our profession and our number one priority at Harbor View Hotel. Again, we are sorry that Harbor View did not make the connection with your party that we have this season with over 100,000 guests. My husband I just returned from a two week stay at the Harbor View in a junior suite overlooking the Edgartown Harbor. Even though the weather was iffy we had a wonderful time primarily because this hotel feels like home and everyone who works there makes you feel like family. The decor is spot on as a mix of contemporary and beachy. The food at Bettini Restaurant is great and the atmosphere fun. From the front desk people to the maids who cleaned our room (particularly Corinne who took amazing care of us), every single employee works hard to make the guests happy. We even got a call days later to say they would send us our lost check book that was found. That is customer service! PS The pool and pool restaurant are fantastic- we even hosted a luncheon during our stay PPS They even have Mercedes vehicles that you can sign up for to borrow .. I guess we are raving!…

The Harbor View did not disappoint! We were there over the July 4th busy week and had a fantastic time! The hotel is beautiful, the amenities were top notch and the hotel is centered in the most beautiful location. It’s clear that customer service is a priority. Two standouts were Vuk at the clubhouse bar who made the best drink I’ve ever had and the pretty Alyssa at the pool who took care of my daughters all day at the pool. We wanted to take her home! Stay here you will not be disappointed!
