Initially they put us into the top floor room and it was so small and angled attic angled ceilings that i could not stand unless in center of room (basically at the foot of the bed or door) - i'm 6'2" so not a giant. We complained and then then moved us to the middle floor where the room had normal ceilings. The furniture was very beat up, but shower temp and water pressure was good. They have a more renovated side of the hotel but they did not put us there even though they did not appeared to be booked up at all - it was very early season an covid impacted. Also, you have to pay for parking like 40$ per night FYI.
Hotel staff was above and beyond. Really makes it so much of a pleasure. Hotel was very clean. We felt comfortable being there after being in our home for 3 months. The rooms were lovely. Water and ice were available when we requested. Thank you.
We enjoyed our stay at The Sydney. So convenient to the shops and restaurants in Edgartown. Be sure to ferry over to Chappy for a scenic experience. We will definitely be coming back. Thank you very much!
Decided to spend an extra three days after a week with the family. Picked the Sydney primarily on location and that there was parking. There are two buildings, we were in a king room in the building above the restaurant. There was a simple continental breakfast on in the morning. Staff was cordial but we did not need much support as we know the Vineyard well. Special thanks for getting my daughter and her fiancé a room at the last minute when the ferry's were shutdown for hurricane Ida.
We visited the Sydney in October of 2021 largely based on TripAdvisor reviews. As noted, the Inn is conveniently located in Edgartown and our room was very clean and serviced daily. The room was large enough for our needs and contained a mini-fridge. The gentleman who serviced our room was professional and courteous....we left him a gratuity in spite of what follows and that is where the positives ended. Upon check-in, communications between staff and a variety of requests and issues that arose were very less than adequate, particularly for the price-points being charged. We had specifically requested a quiet room and were placed directly parallel to an outside fire pit/seating area. An offer was made to change our room the next day and we did not want that hassle after being settled. Breakfast on the first morning was cold (for items that should not have been) and very limited. We found breakfast elsewhere after that. There is no coffee ability in the room, and none available in the lobby until 8:00 a.m. when breakfast is made available. After providi tng feedback concerning this to the staff when asked about my "vibes concerning our stay" via a text, they did nothing about this. Each day, I had to get dressed, and probe the streets of Edgartown while still dark trying to find a cup of coffee at 7:00 in the morning. What hotel these days does not have coffee available in some manner to their guests early in the morning? Give me a break here! Then, after arriving home (we had paid a very expensive price for parking in a gravel lot under a tree) discovered that we had been charged twice the amount as contained in an earlier email. And by the way, I had to request numerous times via texting and calling the Inn just to receive a statement. Nothing was even emailed upon checkout. That is when I discovered the discrepancy. It then required repetitive efforts to receive a credit to my card account. I was subsequently informed that a mistake had been made and was charged the 2022 amount. Really? It took over a week for the credit to appear on my credit card account. Two requests were made during our stay for restaurant recommendations....the first was never honored. The second was a few names sent in a text when I had been promised something more informative and extensive for the entire Island. There is no staff person in the lobby at most times....it is a matter of chance, requiring the guest to either ring a bell or call a number for assistance. So despite our few positives, the overall negatives regarding our stay at The Sydney left a poor impression and we will not return.…
Beautiful hotel centered around the best shops and restaurants. Extremely chic decorated rooms. Very comfortable beds and beautiful views of the town. The staff are friendly and helpful. I recommend staying at The Sydney to everyone planning a vacation in Martha’s Vineyard. We will be back!
Picked this boutique hotel from online reviews and pictures and it did not disappoint! The decor is clean and stylish and our room was quite comfortable. Easy access to outlets to plug in all our devices. Staff could not be more helpful. Patio area is a wonderful oasis with comfy chairs and small tables where you can eat breakfast. They provide a “small plates” breakfast that was plenty for us. (If you need something more substantial Espresso Love is a 3 minute walk where you can get breakfast sandwiches and espresso-based drinks, for those who don’t drink regular coffee, which The Sydney provides.) There is also a filtered water dispenser if you want to fill your water bottle before heading out for a bike ride or walk. The adjacent l’etoile restaurant was wonderful…a bit of a splurge but delicious and well worth it. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to the Vineyard!…
We loved the location-right in the heart of Edgartown, the rooms were very updated , clean and comfortable. The staff was outstanding…we interacted with three different members of the staff and all were excellent. Great boutique hotel-quaint like a B & B. Breakfast was really nice. Staff was excellent.
Beautiful inn, I loved the decor and the people were very friendly and helpful. Thank the lord they had parking because the streets were ridiculously tight! They had a very nice spread in the morning for the continental breakfast. I would highly recommend staying there.
The location was close to the Falmoutj Edgartown ferry, The shops were all close by and we were able to walk all over Edgartown without a problem. The hotel is also close to the bus depot. Room was so clean and quite comfortable.
