This boutique hotel was stunning. A magical experience. The location was perfect to the local town and harbour and it was so clean and decorated to perfection. The staff were very attentive, particularly Alex on the main desk. He went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and even sang to us. We would return in a heartbeat.
Wonderful experience! Incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful rooms. Perfect location. Delicious breakfast with fresh baked scones and muffins, homemade granola. Fresh baked cookies each afternoon. Unlimited purified still and sparkling water. Really nice courtyard with gas fire at night. Best possible location in center of town, walking to everything, yet quiet. Sister hotel had wonderful private concert that we went to. Easy bikeride to South Beach and everywhere else. Would go back in a heartbeat!
Excellent service. Super cute and comfortable rooms. The staff is like friends and family. Alex is such a sweet guy. He’s so helpful and caring. Always there for anything you need. Angela was helpful and kind. Love this place
In September 2022, my wife and I stayed in Room #6 on the third floor of the Captain's House, adjacent to L'Etoile Restaurant, a short walk from The Sydney's main house. POSITIVES: The location was outstanding, the staff (including Angela and housekeeping) was responsive, the lawn was great, and the included breakfast was satisfactory. NEGATIVE: There is no elevator in the Captain's House but there are 33 steps to the third floor. We were given two rooms keys at check-in, one of which did not work. The Sydney's wi-fi was out all of Saturday and Sunday. The room is small and awkward, part of it having slanted ceilings. The bathroom is very small (we have been in larger bathrooms in Europe). There were no luggage racks, consequently we had to put our luggage one the floor. The safe was on a recessed nook on the floor, accessible only on one's hands and knees. SUMMARY: The price paid to stay in the Captain's House was exorbitant given the value received. Perhaps The Sydney's main house is better, but we would never stay in the Captain's House again.…
We stayed in a room that looks just like the one in the picture. Very conveniently located on the street that's one block up from the waterfront with plenty of shops and restaurants close by. Very walkable and the Carnegie Heritage Center museum, which I highly recommend visiting, is just down the street. The bus system stop is on Church St. which is maybe 3 blocks away and is a bargain for getting around the island. The staff was courteous and helpful as well.
Had the most lovely experience at this beautiful, quaint, clean and ultra convenient hotel in the heart of Edgartown. The staff was super friendly, the accommodations lovely, and all in all a wonderful place to be away from home. Just wish they had a restaurant on-site or room service, although all kinds of restaurants are around the corner. Great place to stay in Edgartown.
Our first visit to Martha’s Vineyard and we stayed at the Sydney Hotel. We had an exceptionally wonderful experience. ALL the Staff was super friendly ( extra shout out to Alexander and Jessica) - We thank you ALL for making our stay so memorable. The hotel was clean, modern and beautiful decor.. We enjoyed the daily fresh, tasty and healthy breakfast offered. The courtyard was an enjoyable and cozy spot!!
My cousin and I , just made it back home from our annual MV August vacation. This year was the first year we stayed at the Sydney and they did NOT disappoint. The stay was simply lovely. The hospitality was everything . One of the staffers, Alex was amazing. He is unforgettable. He made our stay extra special by providing help when we needed it . I also loved the brownies and cookies the hotel placed out every night. This hotel is not cheap but it was worth every penny! Thank you Sydney! We will be back .
The hotel is a perfect place to stay in the heart of Edgartown but since it’s a block off North Water Street it’s cozy and quiet. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was outstanding as well.
My husband and I spent three days in Edgartown as a mini vacation. We loved The Sydney - an amazing vibe, fantastic location with friendly staff and beautiful rooms. We will definitely be back to one of the many Lark hotel properties.
