My husband and I had the pleasure of resting at The Sydney for a long weekend in early October. We enjoyed it so much that we will absolutely be back! The location was amazing. We were within a few minutes walk to shops, restaurants, the harbor, and beaches. The hotel itself was great. Our room was immaculate. We stayed in the "Lark Suite" (room 208) which had picturesque views of shops on the street below and fall foliage. The staff gave us amazing, freshly baked chocolate chip cookies every day! The pumpkin muffins and avocado toast for breakfast were really good as well. My one and only critique is that the walls felt paper-thin. You could hear everything outside on the street plus, bustling noises or voices in the hall or lobby. If you are a light sleeper, that's something to consider. We are not light sleepers and the hotel was relatively quiet considering it was off-peak season and during the pandemic of Covid-19.…
There are lots of places to stay in Edgartown. We have stayed at a few. I suggest you do not stay at the Sydney. They have horrible business issues. Cannot send confirmations, get billing correct, overcharged us. I wish in these times I did not have to say this but there is just no excuse. Plus they cannot seem to keep the noise levels down or face masks on their customers.
This was a lovely, clean hotel. Friendly staff. The decor is beautiful and peaceful. It is in the middle of Edgartown so easy to shop and dine. The breakfast was nice-I was expecting a coffee and muffin, but they had oatmeal with fruit, smoothie, scone, and avocado toast. I highly recommend!
My husband and me stayed at the Sydney in September 2020. Due to coronavirus the check in and management was different, mainly via texting and the hotel management would reply promptly. When we booked we were told that the parking was free but as we arrived it turned out that there is a daily fee of $40 per day for a parking spot (and there are only 5 spots). Breakfast was brought to our door with coffee every morning, something different every day ( small portion but tasty). Staff is friendly and was always happy to brew some coffee in the afternoon.
