We had a delightful mid-summer stay here while visiting the Conway area. The house is cozy and beautifully decorated with many interesting antiques and objets d'art. Friendly golden retrievers and an adorable cross-eyed cat complete the welcoming and home-y feel. Our host Diane was warm, intelligent, and an excellent conversationalist.. Not to mention a great cook! Breakfasts were fresh and... More

My wife and I spent 4 nights here, while in Conway for the re-dedication of the Congregational Church. The house was quite and lovely, built in the mid 1800's, furnished with antiques. Diane was very friendly and made us feel at home. The room was very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, with a different meal served each day. We look forward... More

My wife and I came for a couple of nights over the Labor Day weekend to attend a family event in the vicinity and to do some sight seeing in the Northhampton area. The fully restored 1860's house was charming, full of antiques and felt like a step into the past yet with modern comfort. We liked it that it... More

I spent a night here after visiting the Emily Dickinson Homestead in Amherst. The breakfast was excellent, my hostess charming and intelligent, and the house was filled with books -- one of which I started over breakfast, borrowed, and mailed back. I slept in the smaller room, which was more than adequate, and didn't hear a peep from the other... More

I came up to the area for a getaway, and I was very pleasantly surprised at how relaxing this B&B was. The house is beautiful and the atmosphere is calm. Diane is a great host, attentive but not intrusive. Breakfast was delicious, including homemade biscuits and strawberries that she had just picked. There is great hiking, and a great little... More

My wife and I spent a getaway weekend here last month. What a great home! It is even more beautiful than the pictures show. Great art collection, and beautiful furniture, and very comfortable, too. The area is stunning and close to Northampton, where we were going. Our host, Diane is a very attentive and welcoming person, very relaxed and a... More

When we first entered the place, it smelled musty. She was in the middle of a meeting with a friend. She showed us to our room then told us we were on our own because she was in the middle of her meeting. There was no information on what to do or where to eat. We were in the area... More

Diane P, Owner at The House in Pumpkin Hollow Bed and Breakfast, responded to this review

I debated whether or not to respond to this review, since no one B&B will be to everyone's taste. But some of the comments here seemed very off center. I was puzzled by the reference to the bed. I've never had a complaint about it - on the contrary, many folks comment on how comfortable it is, firm but not... More

I stayed at the House in Pumpkin Hollow for one night. Diane Poland, who owns and runs the house, was extremely hospitable. The room was beautifully decorated and the bed was perfect for a great night's sleep. I enjoyed a hot bath before bed - a luxury I rarely take the time to do and a hot shower the next... More

The owner had trouble with the oil line and so we had no general heat in the house. Each room had an electric heater, but did not really heat the room. We stayed two nights, but discussed not staying the second night. The oil company was coming on Monday, but that didn't help our situation. We were there Thursday and... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This spacious 1860 home, completely restored, combines 19th C elegance with modern convenience. Period antiques and furnishings with comfort in mind create an invitation to linger in every room. Bookshelves abound reflecting many/eclectic interests and there's a terrific wood stove for crisp evenings. I serve lavish breakfasts which lead to long, lazy meals and good conversation. Hiking and x-country skiing right outside the door and just a 20 minute ride to Amherst, Northampton and Shelburne Falls. Golden retriever in residence. ... more   less
