We had a lovely few days at this beautiful hotel well run hotel, special thank you to MacKenzie on the front desk who is a credit to the hotel front desk.. on our first night we experienced a loud noise in our bedroom at 10 o’clock and then again at midnight, the Maintance man was unable to sort it out however, Mackenzie had it covered found us a new room the next day.. all the staff were amazing and their shuttle service was very efficient and so useful to visit restaurants in the town
The property is amazing but the view and location (easy enough to walk to town or go for a walk/run with some of the prettiest views available), make this resort worth the money. Highly recommended in the off season too (and cheaper) with plenty to do and explore.
The Chatham Bars Inn is absolutely beautiful, even on a rainy day. The front desk is what really shines. My wife and I are here for our anniversary and they have done everything possible to make our stay special. I’m already planning a trip back!
This was our second time at the Inn and it wont be our last. We love the property, amenities, and staff. Everyone goes above and beyond to make you feel at home. From the time we checked in to the time we checked out it felt like a true vacation.
My husband and I had reservations at another location on Cape Cod and came to the Inn for dinner based on a recommendation from a friend. After walking through the beautiful lobbying and sitting down for dinner at the Veranda we decided to change our plans. We booked a room right on the spot! While it is a large resort, it feels very cozy. The views of beach and the hotel grounds are breathtaking. The service is excellent. The Inn is a short walk from downtown shops and restaurants as well as the lighthouse. There is a large room off the lobby with small seating areas and board games which was a great place to relax after dinner.
Great property; however, the staff seems to rush to close down before the posted closing times, especially at the waterside. They do maintenance and other tasks which should be done after hours while guests are still using the facility, including swimming in the pool themselves and nearly dumping chemicals on top of a guest at the poolside spa.
We loved every minute we stayed at Chatham Bars Inn. An incredible hotel in a beautiful setting with friendly staff and great food and drinks. Walking distance to downtown Chatham. We are looking forward to staying there again.
Outstanding destination: quality at every turn, but it comes at a high price Relaxing sheltered beach. Great range of restaurant options, from fine dining to burgers on the beach. Staff was extremely helpful, and genuinely friendly. We took a "seal safari" around the harbor...maybe next time we'll book a white shark adventure out into the Atlantic.
Staying at CBI is like going back in time to the early 1900s. The hotel is obviously historic, but the service is like none I've experienced. Every housekeep, valet, front desk, server were extremely pleasant, friendly, and enthusiastic to give us service. I read some of the lower reviews before we arrived and I honestly can't see what they complained about. I guess some people don't like to pay for quality and simply can't be happy.
My review of CBI is mixed. We stayed 2 nights at CBI. A thursday and Friday night. We were hoping this would be a kind of "vacation within a vacation.' We had read such glowing reviews and had really high expectations. Unfortunately, those expectations were not met. We arrived by car from Hyannis where we had spent 2 nights. Our gps guided us to the front of the hotel and there were zero signs that we could see telling us otherwise. We parked in the circle and walked up the steps to check in. We did think it was a little weird that there was no valet or staff or anything, but this was our first visit and like I said there were no signs telling us otherwise. The main lobby was beautiful. The woman who checked us in was very professional as she told us very quickly about the 3 restaurant options and their hours. We listened but I didn't really absorb what she was saying as I assumed it was all in the room and we would look it over later. (It was not) She then got out a map of the grounds and proceeded to show us how to drive to our room. Drive to our room? We were not expecting that but ok. We walked back down to our car and followed her instructions. This is where things started to go south. We were not expecting to have to drag our luggage thru the gravel parking lot and up a flight of stairs by ourselves. We paid $1,000 a night for this room. This is not how you treat guests paying that much. Our room was nice. There were some stains on the carpet, stains on the upholstery and scratches on the painted furniture. We had a fireplace but no remote or instructions on how to use it. There was no info in the room about the restaurants, spa, beach or pool. There was an ice bucket but nowhere to get ice that we could see. There was no room service. The views were non-existent. We had 3 windows. One looked out at the street and a parking lot. One looked out at the other parking lot and partially of the golf course with brown grass and out the 3rd window was just a tree and a graveyard of old broken-down outdoor furniture. Not what we expected for $1,000 a night. My husband called the front desk to complain about the room. He was told they were completely full, but they would get back to him. They never did. Strike 1. Next, we changed and walked to the main lobby for a drink and dinner. The only way to get a drink was to either sit at a table for dinner or go to the ONLY bar in the entire place and wait in line for a drink. There was only 1 bar open and this is not a big bar. Maybe 10-12 feet long with 3-4 bartenders working their tails off and 8 or so people sitting there. This is where things went south for my husband. Now he was irritated along with a lot of other guests. We heard that there is usually an outside bar as well but that it wasn't open. Not sure why because it seemed like they had plenty of staff. I must say the staff was very nice and were working very hard. A server did ask me if I needed anything while my husband was standing in line and I said yes that we would like drinks. He took our order but it would have been faster to wait in line as the people that were in line after my husband got their drinks before us. I ordered a Moscow mule and my husband ordered a margarita. My drink was awful. Way too strong. It was basically all vodka. I couldn't drink it so my husband drank it. Worse than that was it was $23! For one drink! Strike 2. We decided to eat dinner. I had the french onion soup which was good and my husband had the clam chowder which he enjoyed. I ordered the burger and he ordered the fish and chips. He enjoyed his dinner but my burger, which I ordered medium, was overcooked. Way overcooked. I did tell the server and she offered to get my something else but I really didn't want anything else. Strike 3. We were very disappointed with CBI at this point. Just did not meet our expectations at all. You hope a hotel will exceed your expectations but at the very least you assume they will meet them, especially when you're spending this much money per night, but that did not happen. We were actually thinking of cutting our trip short and leaving early we were so disappointed, however we didn't. We were going to spend the whole next day enjoying the hotel but because of the weather we changed it up. With the help of the concierge we booked a whale watching tout out of Provincetown and spent the day up there. We avoided what was sure to be another disappointing and expensive meal and chose to eat breakfast in Chatham at Lily's diner. It was terrific! Then spent the day in Provincetown then ate dinner at Del Mar Bar in Chatham which was fantastic. This is where CBI kinda redeemed themselves. We had heard the hotel provided rides into town and we got a complimentary ride to and from Del Mar. That was really nice. We told our driver we were going to spend the next day at the CBI beach and he recommended we take the CBI boat from the beach out to the island across the beach. The beach was lovely, we were able to order lunch to our lounge chairs and the island across the way was amazing. Highly recommend taking that 5-minute boat ride and enjoying the unspoiled beach and Atlantic Ocean. This is why we chose CBI. That day was fantastic. Also, we had left some items in our room after checkout and the staff was nice enough to grab it for us and leave at the valet stand. We really appreciated that. Saturday was a really good day at CBI. While we were initially thinking of not recommending CBI, because of Sat we decided that Thursday must have been an anomaly and we would recommend CBI but make sure you book a room with a view. Stay in the main building or stay near the beach. The other rooms aren't worth it.…
