Detailed Reviews
I love the Hawthorne and will certainly be returning. It’s a great opportunity to stay on the nicest street in Chatham at a reasonable price and with a quiet private beach included. At the beach you’ll see plenty of seals and will also see all the fishing boats come in for the full New England experience. The rooms are plain but very clean. It is a quick walk to the beach bar at CBI and only an 8 min walk into town (walk Seaview street where there is a sidewalk).

We stayed at the Hawthorn just as the COVID pandemic was entering phase 2 in MA. The motel was open, but of course without housekeeping services. The manager was very responsive to phone calls and requests for new towels. He made it very easy. We used the grill, which was brand new. Walking to the fish pier on the beach, picking up the freshest ever fish and grilling it the motel was fabulous. The motel is very well kept up and spotless. They rake the beach every day and the lounge chairs were also cleaned. If you are looking for a spotless, old school motel, on the water, for a reasonable price, stay here

This year during a global pandemic, it was almost surreal to be on vacation. The Hawthorne was ahead of the game and very intelligent by the precautions they had set up. For obvious reasons, we stayed within our resort area. This was no problem at all The Hawthorne Motel has a beautiful private beach, gorgeous flowers about the property, and extremely well manicured grounds. The rooms are probably the cleanest I’ve ever stayed in at the Cape (I’ve tried many!) and the owners are very inviting and care about both the happiness of their guests as well as their safety. This is the perfect place to experience the feel of the entire cape in one location. I would 1000% stay at this property again.

When I made the reservation I was assured that everyone would be wearing masks and that all linens including blankets would be changed. No one was wearing a mask including the kids who went into the rooms to clean. They neither brought in clean blankets or removed the old ones

I've been coming to Chatham for a couple of weeks in the summer for the last *60 years*. I've always known about the Hawthorne but have never stayed there until this past Labor Day weekend 2021. What a wonderful surprise. It's a simple motel but in a stunning, convenient location, and is both immaculately clean and well maintained. It basically shares the same grounds as Chatham Bars Inn but at a fraction of the price. There's a great private beach with chairs and beach towels provided by the Hawthorne. You can walk to both the beach cafe at CBI, which is immediately adjacent to Hawthorne's private beach, and into the middle of town via Chatham Bars Ave in about five minutes. The lighthouse beach is about a 10 minute walk. If you aren't exploring other parts of the Cape you could leave your car parked and just walk everywhere. Staff was friendly and accommodating. I hate to write too glowing a review because I don't want competition for reservations, but I'm already booked for next year, so have at it!

Been to The Hawthorne a number of times. Room and Staff are terrific. Rooms are fresh and updated. AC works great. King size bed was very comfortable. The bathrooms are spotless - with drains that actually drain and plenty of hot water. Nice refrigerator in the room and Direct TV. Daily room service for new towels etc.....Couldn't ask for more.

2022 was our second Labor Day trip to the Hawthorne. If you want a full luxury experience you can stay in the immediately adjacent Chatham Bars Inn for at least three times the rate. But there is something magic and nostalgic about this smaller, immaculately maintained motel that shares the same strip of beach and the same stunning views as CBI. Staff is helpful and friendly, small kitchenette is clean and well equipped for small eat-in meals, beach is a couple of steps from your door (beach chairs provided), town with tons of restaurants and bars (Squire!) is about a ten minute walk, lighthouse beach maybe twenty. Already looking forward to next year. Highly recommend!

We were greeted by a friendly staff and an easy check-in process. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Housekeeping was offered as optional, and we were glad to see the staff was wearing masks still. The beach was beautiful with chairs provided.

Our three-night getaway to the Hawthorne Motel in Chatham, MA, on Cape Cod was just what we needed to lift our spirits during this prolonged COVID period of our lives. Brian was incredibly helpful and friendly in getting us situated and advising us on places to eat, where to see seals, and other local offerings. Our room was bright, comfortable, had a well-equipped kitchenette, and offered superb views of Chatham Harbor. We'll definitely return to this gem of a seaside motel.

The Hawthorne is a mid-sized motel on beautiful property with stunning views of Chatham Bay. Really. One of the most expensive resorts on the Cape sits right next store yet the Hawthorne has far superior views at about half the nightly rates. The rooms are not tiny and are clean and sunlit. And the staff are just wonderful

Dear Denise M.,
Yes, The Hawthorne is open until Sunday, October 28th. It is only a short walk, 3/10ths of a mile, into downtown Chatham. In downtown Chatham you will find wonderful shops and galleries, as well as delicious restaurants.
All of our rooms have a coffee maker. There is fresh coffee brewed in the office each morning starting at 8:00 a.m. In addition there is fresh fruit available in the office. We are also only a short 5 minute walk into downtown to a variety of breakfast options.
We do not have a pool, however we are located on the waterfront and have a private beach with beach chairs and loungers available to all our guests.
