We had a wonderful stay at Chatham Gables. The property is beautiful - recently renovated, with nice yard and gardens, lots of beautiful flowers. Our room was spacious and welcoming. We especially enjoyed the delicious breakfast each morning outside - huge breakfast that fueled us right for the day. Amanda and Nigel are so welcoming and helpful, they gave many great suggestions on things to do, restaurants, etc. Would definitely stay here again!
I do not consider myself an “Inn” (what I might call a B&B) kind of person. I don’t necessarily want to be social on vacation, I don’t tend to like smaller places and I’m kind of a hotel snob who likes really nice rooms, amenities and service. My travel agent booked us at the Chatham Gables Inn when he couldn’t find an alternative and I’m SO GLAD he did! We LOVED it! The owners couldn’t be more helpful or welcoming and seem to have thought through every detail of the inn and the rooms. Our room was gorgeous, it looked like it was straight out of Town & Country. It also was comfortable and restful, with sink-in overstuffed chairs and a spacious bathroom. The bed and sheets were amazing — I had to get the name of the sheet company from Amanda, the owner, who gladly shared the secret. The proprietors have thought of everything a guest might need or want during a stay. Just one example: When we told Amanda we were headed to the beach, she set us up with all the gear: a large beach umbrella; large, comfy beach towels; and the perfect folding chairs. Then there’s the food … This was another problem I thought we’d have, but didn’t. Hint: Don’t plan on having room for lunch while you’re staying at Chatham Gables. We are embarrassingly picky eaters who never imagined we would enjoy a set breakfast. We planned to go out to eat every morning, but thought we’d maybe head to the beautiful outdoor patio first, just for coffee. Boy were we ever wrong. Amanda, Nigel and their two incredible daughters never made us feel strange in spite of our strange food requests (We are those high maintenance types who want this plain, and that without sauce, and only these berries. It’s a big reason I like anonymous hotels — because, embarrassing!) The team here graciously modified and simplified the incredible gourmet breakfasts. And the food was DELICIOUS! We had planned different restaurants for lunch every day we were on the Cape, but after the Chatham Gables breakfasts, we never wanted lunch! Chatham Gables seemed to anticipate that we might want a small snack to tide us over between breakfast and dinner, since the chef prepares yummy fresh-baked treats for guests every afternoon. Really, there are only two things more I could ask of this wonderful place (and both of them are 100% tongue-in-cheek): 1.) They need a check-out program for their sweet Cavalier King Charles dogs so guests can walk them around town. As it is, probably because there’s an odd guest who doesn’t fully appreciate them, we had to ask to see them. If you like dogs, definitely make the request, since these two are loving little furballs. 2.) They need to bottle and sell the amazing fragrance they use. They have a fresh, spring-like scent that is barely noticeable when you walk in the house. It is DEVINE. Amanda told me it’s a special blend they use. I asked her to consider selling it as ‘Essence of Chatham Gables Inn,’ both because I loved it and I’d love to remember my wonderful stay at their inn. I wish I could say that this inn converted me to a B&B/Inn lover. It didn’t, but that’s because I can’t imagine any other inn, or any other family, would offer guests this level of comfort, delight and service. Still, this non-inn person would love to stay at Chatham Gables another time and won’t hesitate to recommend it to my most discerning friends. (What a beautiful place to spend a winter holiday!) Thank you for everything you did to ensure us a wonderful vacation on Cape Cod. P.S. Amanda and Nigel’s two daughters are incredible young women. They are gracious, hard-working, smart and devoted to their parents and each other. If you have a daughter, find out when the girls will be home from school and visit at those times. They are the ultimate models for girls! P.P.S. I thought I posted this in August, but somehow left it on my screen and not on the site!…
Our time at Chatham Gables Inn was absolutely amazing! The grounds, our room, and the inn were gorgeous. Breakfast each morning was the best! It was the perfect place to stay while visiting Chatham! We can’t wait to visit again!
We stayed at the Chatham Gables Inn this weekend for a wedding at the Cape. Amanda,Nigel and their family made our stay very comfortable. They went out of their way to spend time with us, discussing the Inn, learning about us and giving tips for our stay at the Cape. The food was delicious and the rooms are charming. The grounds are impeccable with the hydrangeas in full bloom! It was a wonderful experience. We highly recommend The Chatham Gables Inn for your next stay in Cape Cod.
If you're debating about staying at this BnB, don't hesitate... just book it! Spent 4 lovely nights here with my girlfriend and couldn't have asked for more. The property is stunning and close to all the main attractions on the Cape. Breakfast was fantastic, Amanda and Charlotte were able to work around my dairy allergen which was much appreciated. The whole family (Nigel, Amanda, Charlotte) are an absolute pleasure to talk to, really brought the "homey" vibe we were looking for. Also, make sure you say hello to Frank the Tank each morning, it's a good way to start off each day!
An absolutely first rate Inn. The main house and bedrooms are decorated in the most exquisite taste, and het accommodation and in particular the bed and bedding are of exceptionally high quality and very comfortable. The exterior of the house is delightful and shows its historic heritage at its best. Breakfast was simply wonderful. The best we've had anywhere in the United States: this was a three week visit travelling all over the east coast and we have previously had long visits to the deep South, West Coast and also earlier visits to New England. It is very conveniently situated within a three minute drive of downtown Chatham and the fantastic rugged and natural beaches in the area are also within very easy reach. I would thoroughly recommend it.
A perfect inn with perfect rooms and perfect amenities owned and managed by the perfect hosts Nigel and Amanda, with Charlotte. Our fellow Brits will find the best beds, bacon, bangers and brew in North America, and everyone else will love it too.
We stayed at the Chatham Gables Inn for 2 nights to celebrate our anniversary and we couldn’t have had a better experience! From the beginning Nigel, Amanda and their children were incredibly warm and welcoming. The design of the inn, newly renovated, is stunning and every detail was beautiful. The common spaces, both indoor and outdoor, were lovely and welcoming and so unique. Our room was bright and sunny and spotlessly clean, the bed was extremely comfortable and all the linens were amazing. One highlight of our stay were the breakfasts— they were incredibly delicious, definitely the best pancakes I’ve ever had. Eating in the sunny dining room or outside of the patio was such a treat. We also really enjoyed getting to know Nigel and Amanda and their daughters throughout our stay. Overall, it was a luxurious and one-of-a-kind stay and we hope to return for our anniversary each year. If you’re visiting the Cape, don’t stay anywhere else.…
My husband and I have been to quite a few SR but this was the BEST. Luxury from start to finish. One of the daughters is a great docent with all the particulars on the fantastic upgrades this family has accomplished. Everyone working as a team never leaving a glass unfilled with interesting town tidbits. As previously stated the food and attention to detail by this family was near perfect. Very relaxing atmosphere and "Downton Abbey" like. We would highly recommend this wonderful gem situated in Chatham.
This is hands down the most comfortable, luxurious and friendly place we have ever been. It is a curated experience, from fantastic cooked to order English breakfast every day, ultra lux linens and mattresses, robes and decor. Amanda and Nigel are the owners, their daughters are the staff, and they are on site all the time because they love the place and the guests. Amanda is a designer by trade, and the pictures don’t do justice to the beauty and grace with which she has restored this inn. My wife notices little touches like makeup towels, the best lotions and shampoo, single malt, sherry and port wine at night and cappuccinos made one at a time in the morning. The grounds are beautiful, and Chatham is a delightful seaside town only a five minute walk from the inn, quieter and quainter than most. Life only gives you a few days like this my friends.…
