Detailed Reviews
many of the RV sites are well paved and in good condition. Cabins look new and to be in good condition as well. It's peaceful and clean. Not far from offsite amenties such as shopping or beaches so it's a great location. There was a huge fly problem on our site, which from talking to other campers, we found out that they dump sewage in the woods right next to the RV sites near the "lake". I put lake in quotes because it's more of a pond than an actual lake. The facilities on that end of the campground were closed, which we were not made aware of when checking-in, then we got yelled at by the staff for trying to use those facilities. Also, not a fan of how they charge per "adult". And watch out for change in charges which they don't make you aware of. Be sure to print a copy of your original reservation receipt for your records before they make changes and charge you different prices. We also rented a golf cart which was not charged properly and died on us.

The campground is clean and well maintained. When we arrived, the electricity didn’t work, but was quickly remedied. Our premium pull through site had zero shade, but others on the perimeter had trees. Even though we use a filter, the water had a brown tinge and smelled bad. We used bottled water, however I noticed when we left that the water had stained the toilet and our washer detergent dispenser. I tried to scrub it off, but it remained.

We have been staying here and Frontier Town for 30 years. A lot of upgraded and changed over the past few years.. most good but sure do miss the shaded sites. New restrooms are really nice individual areas with private toilet, sink and shower. Will definitely keep coming back.

Sadly I feel forced to write this about our stay. We stayed in the cabins and while they were clean and comfortable your personal property is not cared for. Cleaning was being done next door and there golf cart used for carting laundry and cleaning supplies backed into our truck. Leaving a dent and scratches. Corporate denied this happening and we are resulted to pay for damages done to our vehicle. For this reason we will never return. Corporate should hire honest employees to just confess for doing such a thing instead of lying

We have camped at Fort Whaley in years past and loved it. We felt welcomed our entire visit.
However the 2 ladies that work in the front office are some of the rudest and uneducated (about their job) women I have met. They know nothing about the campground and or the check in or check out process.
I booked online 1 year prior to our visit and was never asked for a $100 deposit. On Friday the one lady made a big deal about how she could not check me in because I had 3 weekends booked. I told her that if it was easier to just cancel the other 2 weekends and I will just check in and pay for the weekend we were there. I was told that if I cancel my other weekends then it would cancel this weekend. In the end I was told it was fine and that I only owed for the weekend we were currently there for.
When I went to check out I was handed a $1290 bill. They told me that the money I had paid for the weekend was put towards my missing deposit for the weekend we stayed plus the 2 other weekends we had booked. I again told the lady to cancel my other two weekends I had booked. I was told that she could not do that. Was also told to make sure I cancel 7 days prior. I told the lady that I would only be paying for the weekend we were there for. She then told me that I was fine to leave and that she would take care of it.
10 minutes later I get a call telling me again that the $389.00 i spent was put towards the deposit balance on the other weekends and that I still owed money. I told them to cancel the other weekends it was not big deal. I was now being yelled at by the woman and given a major attitude. Spoken to like I was wrong and did something wrong.
Finally after listening to this woman yell at me and telling me not to yell at her (even though I never did). She agreed to cancel the other 2 weekends and put the money towards the weekend we spent there.
I activity director and helper had about the same attitude. I definitely miss the old director that was very upbeat and made the activities fun for both adults and children.
I recommend Fort Whaley for the atmosphere, cleanliness, location and family fun.
I do not recommend Fort Whaley for the staff and prices

New owners changed a Fort Whaley from Great to a Mediocre overpriced facility.
This was our sixth and last visit. The new owners are only about the money. Fort Whaley was a quiet location, had well spaced RV sites, and friendly staff and facilities.
The number of sites have trippled and have been placed for the maximum number of sites the rural location could fit.

My family and I had the best time during our recent stay at Fort Whaley. We have been campers for years and this is definitely one of the cleanest campgrounds we have ever been to. The staff is so friendly and there is so much to do! We couldn’t believe you get free passes to the Waterpark at their other location with your stay! We will definitely return.

We stayed a week in RV lot 47 last September for OC Bike Week. The campgrounds were very clean as well as the pool and shower houses. I'm not sure what all the complaints on here are about, they mostly seem to be around the fact that the rates have increased in recent years. We enjoyed Fort Whaley so much that we booked our 2022 bike week reservation before we left in 2021. We liked the fact that it was away from the resort, but only a 15 minute ride to downtown OC. Best location for campers that bring motorcycles. I said "Yes" to water park, because they have a pool, and will give you passes to the waterpark at their other campground

This campground used to be a special gem. Nice facilities, great place to spend family time at an affordable rate. Now that they have been bought by Sun RV Resorts, it's all ruined. First, there is the price- no longer affordable. How many families can pay a few hundred dollars for a weekend of camping? Second, for most of the year, there is a three night minimum. My husband and I would have to take a day off work in order to take our sons camping for the weekend. The rates are completely outrageous, and they even add a "resort fee" on top of it! It's so sad that greed has ruined this campground. I hope that people get fed up with the extremely high prices and just stop coming. Their greed is amazing.

We participated in the Ocean Down Casino promotion in good faith. We live local and opted to use the points at a later date. Well to our surprise the point were gone. The card specifically said expire 12/31/2021. What should we have expected? The customer service said we should have used them during our stay. THIS WAS NEVER explained to us. Beware of fine print not printed.

As a camper at Frontier Town, you may purchase a Visitor's Pass and fish at Fort Whaley - it's a catch-and-release pond. But we have a 200' long pier at Frontier Town that you may fish and crab from as well.
