Detailed Reviews
My family stayed at the Chanceford for memorial day weekend and it was truly a wonderful experience. Our hosts were so unbelievably thoughtful, both in the accommodations and our interactions.
This B&B was spotless in every way, welcoming and tastefully decorated. Again, this place is super clean. The beds and bedding were comfortable (Shea, you should rename the Conway as the Rip Van Winkle room - we slept well.) There were slippers and robes, a mini fridge with juice boxes, water and adult beverages.
The parlor was gorgeous and we played card games, sipped cocktails, had good conversation with the hosts and other guests. The outdoor area was charming with games in an outdoor sitting area, a fire pit and lovely gardens. The pictures don't do it justice.
Breakfast was over the top delicious. For dishes that were a bit more adult in taste, our hosts made modifications for more child friendly breakfast without even having to ask. Shea's creativity in cooking is outstanding and we enjoyed each day. Ask about about her "Lady Dane".
We ventured into ocean city and Assateague Island and the drive was reasonable.
Lastly, our hosts, Shea and Mat, were so friendly and wonderful to interact with. We really enjoyed meeting them. Planning to stay there again in the near future.

Thanks Kate! It was great to meet you and Andrew and glad that you had a good stay. We immediately ordered a copy of Rip Van Winkle to leave in the room, and will share the reason why with our guests staying there... lol! We really enjoyed game nights with everyone! We also were so happy your daughter made a friend while staying here too. Come back anytime! - Shae

I booked a night at Chanceford Hall with my wife to celebrate our anniversary. Upon calling and confirming the reservation, the proprietress Shea was more than accommodating! She made sure to ask if we had any allergies, and also offered a complementary bottle of champagne to help us celebrate. When we arrived, she and her husband immediately greeted us and showed us to our room, telling us all about the history of Chanceford Hall (it's older than the USA!!). Shea's also an avid collector of historic memorabilia, and spoke about numerous pieces she had on display in the dining room and parlor, as well as our room. Our room was immaculately prepared for us, with the inn-suite bathroom complete with robes and slippers for our comfort. We got settled in, and then went out to Salisbury for dinner. We were able to come back at any timepoint afterwards, the driveway having plenty of room for multiple cars.
The next morning, Shea greeted us in the dining room with breakfast. She had been preparing it since 5:30, and it showed- it was delicious! She treated us to a three-course meal, my wife and I are still raving about her take on a cheese Danish as well as a croissant breakfast sandwich. Afterwards, we went for a relaxing walk around the peaceful town of Snow Hill and were able to leave at our own comfort. In short, we would both recommend Chanceford Hall to our friends, family, and anyone looking for an unforgettable getaway!!

My wife, daughter and I stayed at Chanceford Hall in Juney 2021 for three nights. We chose to stay in Snow Hill to keep away from the craziness of Ocean City but be close enough to enjoy Assateague, Chincoteague and the Snow Hill area. It was a great choice! Shae takes her role as host very seriously from a friendly greeting at the door upon arrival to lots of little treats along the way. She listens to her guests and jumps through hoops to accommodate every minor detail and request. The food was delicious and adventurous. Shae keeps breakfast interesting, so prepare to be dazzled and filled. Don't hold back on food allergies or special requests, as she takes pride in taking care. The building is very cozy and interesting inside and out. Plenty of rooms to explore including a fantastic recreation room with a fireplace, games, drinks, and comfy seating. We spent a lot of time in that room. Ask Shae and her husband to join you, as they are very interesting people and a lot of fun! Make sure to make time for the pool - super relaxing and refreshing. The backyard is full of yard games and beautifully landscaped. I worked for part of the time and had solid internet service and plenty of quiet places to work. We took day trip excursions to Assateague (horses, beach and hikes), Chincoteague (mosquitoes, very few horses and far away, but good little museum) and Sunset Grille just before the bridge going into West Ocean City (great food, drinks and sunset). Also make time to spend time or have a meal in Snow Hill. The antique store is amazing! (low prices and incredible collectibles). All in all it was a relaxing and fulfilling trip mostly thanks to Shae and Chanceford Hall.

What a delight it was to spend a night in this historic old home. The owners have done an outstanding job modernizing it as a B&B for guests and were fantastic hosts for our short stay.
And the breakfast...different eats than what you'd normally have but fabulously created by our hostess Shae. We stayed in the Cliveden Room, and if we ever get back in the area I would choose Chanceford Hall over any hotel, any day.

What a fabulous place to getaway to. The accommodations were spacious, comfortable and clean. The backyard provided all kinds of things to do like horse shoes, fire pit, boce ball, swimming and best of all sitting and enjoying the wonderful setting that is Chanceford Hall. There is a spacious seating area were we sat and had some adult beverages, conversation and also learned about the history of the Inn. Shea and Matt were very welcoming, friendly and excellent hosts! The breakfasts were delicious. We will be back!! Thank you Shea and Matt.

First off, I must confess, that I would probably drive from our home in Columbus Ohio, to Chanceford Hall, just to have Doug & Fran's breakfast. It's a multi-course experience of gourmet quiches, scrambled eggs (the name sounds too generic for the actual dish), apple kayaks, french toast, fruit plates, and so much more that I can't remember. And, it's different every day!
Hosts, Doug & Fran, are two of the warmest, most engaging people you've ever met. They have a wealth of knowledge of the town of Snow Hill and local attractions, like Ocean City, Assateague & Chincoteague Islands, Berlin, etc., with tips on what to do and see, where to eat and drink, etc.
The huge house and rooms are amazing. Built in the 1750's, it's beautifully restored, each room furnished with so many antiques, you wonder where they found them all.
The main attraction for us though (aside from the awesome breakfasts), is the proximity to so many wonderful attractions. Let's start with Snow Hill. On the surface, it's a sleepy, neat, clean small town, with picturesque old mansions and quiet streets for evening strolls. But, it has great history and natural attractions like the Pocomoke River for kayaking and boat tours. It's a 5 minute walk to the "downtown" for antique shops, restaurant, toy store and, of course, the famous Blue Dog Saloon. The Blue Dog is a story in itself, but I'll try to give the Reader's Digest version: The owner's of the Blue Dog, are former Broadway singers. On Friday nights, they actually wait tables and serve food, as they're singing with a great band. They are consumate performers, singers and sometimes comedians and pretty good waiters. It's an incredible show, that you must experience, if you're in town on a Friday night. Be sure to have Doug & Fran make reservations.
The Best thing about Snow Hill though, is that it serves a great base camp for many other attractions in the area. Ocean City, Berlin, Assateague & Chincoteague Islands and much more, are all within a very short and easy commute from Snow Hill. After a long, hot day at the beach, or a busy day in Ocean City, it is so nice to come home to a relaxing evening in Snow Hill (unless it's Friday night, of course, in which case, you'll be having a raucous good time at the Blue Dog, lol).

Thank you, Steve L! I had to hold onto my chair as Fran read this review aloud to me! You certainly covered all the bases about the charm of Snow Hill & its proximity to some wonderful tourist opportunities, but you also included details about how Fran & I strive to make our guests comfortable, & provide them with a memorable experience, & not just a place to sleep. I hope that all future guests read your words, because I know that if they did, we would probably be full every night! Please come & see us again!

We are really pleased with our stay at Chanceford Hall B & B. We felt very welcome by Dopug n Fran and the nice old-fashioned environment. We are happy with the room and the breakfast was amazing! It was extra nice when we ate together with the other guests at a large communal table that was so nice dukat. Thank you for your kindness and helpfulness. The town Snowhill brings you back in history with all the old houses.
You made our stay in Maryland so perfect, thank you.

Thank you for your interest in our historic B&B. So sorry, but this old home is not wheelchair friendly, in fact, we are currently closed because of my surgery, & I have had to recover elsewhere. Good luck in your travels.
