Nestled on 26 acres of forest and farmland along the beautiful Miles River, Inn at Perry Cabin steeps you in the essence of Maryland's Eastern Shore. The property, which began as a farm after the War of 1812, is a resort that combines casual luxury with the delights of an escape to the Eastern Shore. Adventurous guests can sail the Miles River to the breathtaking Chesapeake Bay or visit our neighbors at Philips Wharf, a non-profit oyster farm that is helping restore the estuary and serves our guests the freshest, tastiest oysters imaginable. Landlubbers can explore our gardens or hop on a bicycle and tour beautiful, historic St. Michaels. Guests who play tennis can volley on our classic, green-clay Har-Tru courts, and golfers can challenge themselves on our new 18- hole, Pete Dye designed course. By evening, Inn at Perry Cabin blossoms into the region’s social hub where guests and locals gather for intimate occasions and joyful celebrations. If you'd rather exercise your palette, we have an ever changing menu of fresh, seasonal produce, locally-raised meats and poultry and, of course, the day’s catch from the bay. All of it is simply prepared and subtly seasoned with herbs from our own gardens so that the local flavors of the Eastern Shore can shine. Inn at Perry Cabin’s ultimate gift to guests is true relaxation. From our spa to our shoreline, our staff shoulders every worry and takes care of every request.

I’ve stayed here many times over the years... and I’ve noticed a decline. We always enjoy the pool area and last year we were very disappointed to find the menu ‘dumbed down’ and the servers just seemed like they didn’t know what they were doing. Wanted to return for a girls trip this past week but prices were just too high. Opted for Harbour inn and once checked in, decided to ride bikes to Perry for a drink on the lawn. The women at the reception desk were very unfriendly. We ordered a drink from the little bar to take out on the lawn. I don’t know who made that cocktail list but it wasn’t anyone who has ever made a drink! All the combinations were bizarre... ingredients just not meant to work with each other... it was kind of astounding. And then a female bartender reprimanded a male bartender loudly, in front of us, before even making drinks! Sorry people, you cannot be charging 1000 a night with this kind of service and attitude! The only nice people we encountered were the captains on the dock.

Hotel's Favorite
Our daughter graduated (virtually) from high school last month and we had to cancel our celebratory long-planned trip to Barcelona. Instead, we drove to St. Michaels to stay for a few days at the Inn at Perry Cabin. I cannot recommend the experience more strongly. The Inn is meticulous in its COVID protocol, organized and welcoming. We stayed on the first floor so that we could access our room from the outside and it opened right onto the water. Our dinner at the Inn was one of the loveliest most delicious meals of our life. We spoke at dinner about how we are fortunate to have experienced Michelin restaurants in Paris, Positano, New York and DC and that this was among our favorite family meals that we will always remember. The service was also friendly and impeccable. Our server even described how I should taste my layered drink first and then stir it. There were many small welcoming details such as these. The food, setting, service, everything was perfect. And memorable. It is expensive but I would take two nights and three days at the Inn at Perry Cabin one a two week vacation just about anywhere.

We came to St Michaels by boat. As locals, we did not need an overnight reservation. We anchored with friends close by. And our boats have the amenities to stay aboard. I was excited to be able to spend time at the fire pits. So often when we have visited they was no space. A dock hand was extremely rude when we pulled up to the dinghy dock. Immediate asking if we had a reservation. He indicated access was private and asked us to leave. It was explained to him that we were meeting friends already gathered at the fire pit. He then walked away. I am local to the area and did not appreciate such a “welcome”. I understand ownership has changed. But you will be doing yourself a disservice to alienate locals. We bought drinks and had a shorter than expected visit given the airs. I hope when we return further into the fall that this does not occur again.

We needed a quick getaway to somewhere drivable during July because we still weren't ready to fly. I have been to St. Michaels before and knew of the Inn at Perry Cabin. We booked a lovely suite for two nights. It is a beautiful property and the room was very large and well appointed. It was the first hotel we had stayed in since the pandemic began and missed the valet, little services, etc, but totally understood the changes. We sat outside the first evening and took advantage of the bar service. They did an excellent job considering the distance they have to serve those sitting outside. We used the pool the next day. Luckily, we got there at just the right time as two chairs were opening up. I think the pool area is very small for the size of the resort. Many people came in and could not get a place to sit. I really enjoyed the pool area and service. We had drinks and lunch there and it was excellent. That evening we sat outside at the restaurant. The service and food were excellent. We discussed returning to this resort often! We were very pleased with the experience. But then, a hiccup.....We had been told we could receive a late checkout. (A late checkout is also a standard part of the type of reservation we book with our travel agent) Our last evening after dinner, I called the front desk to ask what time we could check out. I was told 11am. (Normal checkout) After I reminded him that we had been told we could have a late checkout, he told me that the people coming into our room the next day had requested an early check in, so we needed to check out at 11. Needless to say, I was speechless for a minute. (These are not inexpensive suites..) I asked to speak to a manager. After several minutes, a manager came on the phone and told me the same thing. So, we checked out at 11 am the next morning, but I'm not sure we would return again.

Dear KALSD575, Thank you for sharing your wonderful feedback. We're so glad to read you enjoyed your stay with us, and that your room and our dining options here were to your liking. We appreciate your patience and understanding towards certain amenities not being available during this time in adjustment to new COVID-19 regulations. The hotel is running limited inventories in consideration of COVID and as a result, our ability to flex and extend checkout times is limited. We sincerely apologize that on this occasion we could not extend ourselves based on the volume of business. We value your feedback and will continue to strive to provide services and amenities that will exceed any expectations of staying with us. We hope you will decide to visit us again in the future. Warm Regards, The Crew at Inn at Perry Cabin

I attended a rehearsal dinner that was in a private dining room. The venue and grounds were beautiful as I have always expected from the Inn. The food, likewise, was superb. But for a meal that was well into four figures on the bill, the service was beyond terrible. We were given one server for four tables and this person was clearly in over their head. No cocktail menus were provided until well after the wine was served and someone asked for one. The server never asked for drink orders. Wine wasn’t refilled. Water wasn’t refilled. The food was slow to arrive. On multiple occasions, the bride actually served wine to her family members at other tables. The server noticed this and commented on it yet did nothing about it. Eventually extra help did arrive, in the form of someone dressed like a dock hand in a short sleeve shirt and cargo shorts. Keep in mind that everyone in attendance is in suits and dresses. In sum, the building and grounds are beautiful. The food was wonderful. I will never be coming back.
