The Parsonage Inn (1883) provides a striking example of the late Victorian era with its unique brick inlays and center tower with steeple. What makes us unique? First, we NEVER charge resort fees! The little things! Log burning and gas fireplaces, coffee, tea and bottled water available 24 hours a day, an ice maker for your drinks, active wine chilling sleeves, wine glasses and a corkscrew in your room, great bikes, freshly baked cookies,a three course, truly amazing, breakfast and we cater to all types of dietary needs. Then there are the big things that aren't readily visible; Cleanliness, attention to detail, extremely comfortable bed, lovely linens, expert knowledge of the area and restaurants, and our very friendly staff . These are just a few of the many, many things that our guests love and why they come back - frequently!

I don't even know where to begin. The Parsonage Inn is a beautiful well restored Victorian with an interesting history of its original owner. The brick work is amazing. The room was clean and nicely decorated with fresh flowers. We had access to a patio right outside our room. It was quiet at night and the bed was comfy. The staff was amazing, friendly and knowledgeable about the local merchants, including great restaurants, the best ice cream shop and site sighting. Breakfast was 5 stars. Liz was helpful in answering all our questions. We were able to visit the sister inn about a mile down the street and the pool was delightful. Overall I recommend the Parsonage Inn to anyone who needs to get away for a few days for some relaxation. My husband and I had a great time. We will definitely return.

Property's Favorite Review
My wife and I had a delightful stay at the Parsonage Inn late July. Our room was comfortable, just off a deck with a patio table and covered umbrella which we used. There is a nice small living room in which we relaxed one evening after a dinner out. The inn is a short walk to the harbor, restaurants, and shops. Plenty of onsite parking. Breakfast in the cozy dining room was delicious and all homemade. There were a few other friendly guests who made breakfast even more enjoyable. The innkeeper, Liz, and her staff provide an outstanding level of service. We would stay here again.

Thank you for posting your "Five Star" review of our inn and innkeeper. The building dates from 1883 plus the rear addition we added in 1985. It looks like you recognize that the rooms in buildings of that era were not that large compared to our houses and rooms built recently. It was a challenge converting this historic building into a B&B Inn with private bathrooms along with modern electrical wiring, plumbing and zoned heat pumps. We are pleased that you would chose to stay with us again when your travels bring you back to St. Michaels!

My husband and I highly recommend the Parsonage Inn. We stayed for a VERY hot weekend in July 2022. A very nice feature about this Inn is that it has a sister Inn, The George Brooks Inn, which has a pool that guests at the Parsonage can use. Since the weekend we stayed happened to have a heat advisory the pool came in very handy. We were able to walk the downtown shops in the late morning/ afternoon and then when it became exceptionally hot we spent a few hours at the pool in the afternoon. Don't know what we would have done without it. The deck right off of our room was absolutely perfect - we sat outside in the mornings and drank our coffee and also the evenings. The food was excellent and the innkeeper, Liz, was very good. She was very welcoming, friendly, and helpful. The Inn also has bikes for your use, which was really great. All in all it was a wonderful experience with great food!

Thanks for posting your "Five Star" review of our inn. We were glad to see that you went out to our other inn, the George Brooks House (1/2 mile) to enjoy the pool and extensive gardens (no need to use the hot tub on a day with 95F temps! - great on a cool evening). It looks like my staff, Liz and Alexi. took good care of you while staying with us and enjoying the town of St. Michaels.

Our stay at the Parsonage Inn did not disappoint! The building itself is a beautiful throw back to the Victorian era and in walking distance to everything. The breakfasts were delightful. Our host Liz was excellent and always there to help. They even have complimentary bikes to use to explore the quaint, idyllic seaside town of St. Michaels.we definitely recommend staying at the Parsonage Inn!

Thanks for posting your guest review! The brick building circa 1883 is quite remarkable - a tribute to the best "brick layers" or masons of that era. The brick patterns or inlay work on the two chimneys is different on the South side from the front of the house. The steeple with inverted pyramid and the inlays between the first and second floor windows is another interesting detail. The owner had established the St. Michaels brick yard in 1877 following two major fires (August of 1870 and again in August 1872) that destroyed over half of the town. The owner wanted to demonstrate to the people that owned homes or businesses that they could build with brick and use metal roofs to avoid the type of fires that nearly destroyed the town. The porches with Eastlake style trim completes the "Victorian Style" and makes a very bold statement about the owner - Henry Clay Dodson. We were delighted to see how you enjoyed our inn!

My husband and I spent a recent 3 nights at the Parsonage Inn. No needs were left unmet. First of all, the location is perfect in terms of walkability to St. Michaels shops and restaurants. The breakfasts were delicious. Coffee and tea were available all day and homemade cookies were there in the afternoon for a light snack. We stayed in Number 4 and while it was a little small, it was all we needed. This is an old victorian house and those looking for brand new will not find it here. We were delighted in the charm of the home and staff.

Not everyone can appreciate the charm of these old buildings (circa 1883), but we are glad to see that you enjoyed the Parsonage Inn and value the charm over a modern hotel or motel with larger rooms. Room #4 Queen upstairs is small, but it is one of my favorite rooms as it opens to the sundeck with umbrella table and chairs and is quieter than the rooms on the front of the house facing the main street. My father and I purchased "the Parsonage" from the Union United Methodist Church two blocks away in 1985, and restored the original brick building and added rooms to the rear to create an 8 room B&B Inn. Small, cozy, comfortable with modern amenities (A/C) and attentive inn-keeping to create a delightful stay in St. Michaels.

Recently spent 2 nights at the Parsonage Inn with my husband for my birthday. The location of the Inn cannot be beat, with an easy walk to shops and restaurants and plenty of on-site parking. The outside of the Inn is quite lovely with a pretty front porch and a lovely outdoor garden area. The inside of the Inn however is very small and cluttered with mis-matched furniture, tired carpet and cheap art work. Our room, #4 was tiny with just enough room for a bed, 1 chair and a night stand, the bathroom needed updating, the shower reminded me of a YMCA shower stall with a soap dispenser stuck to the wall. Let me say that the Inn Keeper Liz, was charming and friendly and her breakfasts were delicious. But aside from a small table in the parlor with a plate of cookies and some candy, there were NO extras to speak of, no little touches of hospitality. If there was an afternoon tea, it wasn't mentioned, no mini fridge in our room, no extra towels, toiletries, etc. Very basic accommodations but a great location for touring St Michaels.

This is a guest that would prefer a modern hotel over a charming circa 1883 Victorian. Old houses are not for everyone, the furniture is different in each room (unlike a motel or most hotels), and we just replaced the carpet in the guest rooms. The art work is not cheap - in some rooms the framed prints ran $500 - $700 each 36 years ago. The bathrooms have Victorian era pedestal sinks with mosaic tile floors with custom tiled showers (modern soap an shampoo pump dispensers meet "Green" standards) - something that reflects the late Victorian era. Clearly this guest should stay at a modern hotel - the Parsonage Inn is just too "vintage" or lacking in the size of rooms and amenities this guest enjoys in a modern hotel or motel.

I would give it more than 5 stars if I could. Lovely Victorian Bed & Breakfast with 8 rooms. Rooms are small but nicely furnished. We had a nice deck off our back door. Perfect walkable location. The breakfasts are the main attraction. Something unique and delicious was served each day of our stay. The inn provides use of bikes for free. It was a nice way to check out the town on our first day there. No refrigerators in the room, but ice and water are available as needed. Coffee and tea available all day. Fresh cookies, cream puffs and chocolate were also provided throughout the day.

Wow - more than "Five Stars" - you made us smile! We try our best to present this circa 1883 inn as a charming and comfortable place to stay for a few days while visiting St. Michaels. We are across the street from the entrance to the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum and just a few blocks from the shops and many fine restaurants and bars that make St. Michaels a special place to visit. We do not have refrigerators in the guest bedrooms (a maintenance problem and the rooms are small), but just ask Liz for ice, water, etc. You can bring your own beer, wine and soft drinks to enjoy in your room, on the sundeck upstairs, the brick patio or the front porch - or in the parlor. It looks like you agree - that Liz sure can cook or bake snacks!

We loved the Parsonage Inn. The house is gorgeous and our room was nice and cozy. Liz the innkeeper was amazing! She was so friendly and attentive. Her breakfasts were delicious! It was my 30th bday and she even had cupcakes and chocolate covered strawberries in our room when we arrived. Thank you!

So, you might see a review on one of the booking sites that gives this place a poor rating. I'd have to say that it must have been written by someone who had an object wedged into an uncomfortable part of his anatomy. The entire review is the exact opposite of what you'll experience here. This is a charming Victorian era home with a rich history. It has been refurbished with all of the modern amenities and is well kept and clean. The new innkeeper, Liz, may be new to this establishment, but she is obviously experienced at the job. I happen to know she has a background in the culinary arts, which makes for superb gourmet breakfasts (hopefully you'll get to taste the huevos bendahas during your stay!) One part of the aforementioned review stated that... "When I did go in the main house there was someone in the dining room eating -this felt like I was in someone else's home instead of a bed and breakfast. Very strange."... Yes, very strange he doesn't realize that he is in someone else's home at a B&B!!! I wonder if he happened to wonder in during breakfast. In any case, you'd be welcome to use the dining room to eat during non breakfast hours, as well as the sitting room to relax, read, or socialize with other guests. If you're going to St. Michaels, this is the place to stay!

Mr. Fuff, THANK YOU for taking the time to write these very kind and very true words. You were a 5 Star Guest and please do come back very soon! Just as info, the egg dish you had last week is called Huevos Banditas and if you order huevos bandehas in a restaurant you could run into problems. Liz, Innkeeper

My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary and had a great time. This was the first time we have ever stayed at a bed and breakfast and it was wonderful. The innkeeper, Liz, was super friendly and welcoming and made great breakfasts each morning. We had a room that had direct access to the deck which was great. Loved enjoying our coffee in the morning on the front porch. And it is in a perfect location to be able to walk to everything in town.
