What an opportunity to stay at a 300 year old property in such a beautiful settling. However, to enjoy your stay at the Robert Morris Inn you must be both a flexible and forgiving guest, because the property does show its age. It will neither be the cleanest property at which you have ever stayed nor the quietest. "Pristine" is... More

Vacance2006 Thank you for choosing to stay in our Historic Inn, it is indeed rare to find such a building relatively unchanged save for some modern necessities. Many of those upgrades include our fire alarm system and we are not sure how you missed the permanently lit Fire exit signs. In a 1710 hallway they are pretty glaring and are... More

My husband and I just spent two enjoyable nights at the Inn. All of the staff were friendly, helpful and professional. We stayed in room 10 which had a separate sitting room and bedroom. We enjoyed having our breakfast on the porch each morning. I had the blueberry pancakes which were the best pancakes I have ever tasted! We had... More

Friendly staff...... A little too friendly. Housekeeper was vulgar and kept making passes at my husband... on our Honeymoon. She wasn't quiet about it, she may have been drunk. Made us very uncomfortable.

This is extremely inappropriate, on so many levels. There is no foundation for these damning accusations. We stand by our loyal team of hard working and customer focused employees. As a professional organisation if we identify any issues within our team we immediately step in with coaching, training and mentoring. We millenials pulled the Robert Morris Inn off of the Internet without expecting much more than a quiet B&B. When we got here, we were greeted by the very welcoming and familial staff. The room is cozy and quiet (and not in the least bit modern, save for the AC), and the restaurant downstairs had a great complimentary breakfast for... More

We have been wanting to visit this 1710 Inn and the town of Oxford. We booked a one night stay in Admiral room R17, the 3rd floor corner room with view of the water. The Inn is in a great location with clean and comfortable rooms, nice amenities, charming gourmet restaurant with outdoor seating that takes you back in history.... More

LuckyCL Delighted you managed to join us and that the experience lived up to expectation. This is the countries oldest Inn and you were staying in one of the original bedrooms of the then, River View House. A room little changed in over 300 years, with the exception of indoor plumbing. We take great pride in maintaining the Inn true... More

Located next to the Tred Avon River and Bellvue-Oxford Ferry. Over 300 years old this Inn is furnished in period style. We stayed in the Admiral room which had a sitting room and a separate bedroom. We came to Oxford to enjoy a quite weekend at the Robert Morris Inn with two other couples who are our dear friends . Our room was clean, very comfortable and quiet even though the room air conditioner operated all night. The rate included a la cart breakfast which made the cost reasonable. Nicely located right on the water, you can walk to the ferry. Oxford is a sleepy town with views of water at every turn. The inn is very pretty in an authentic colonial way. We were placed in a "cabin" outside the original house. At first, we were upset that they didn't tell us that when we made our reservation... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Once the home of Robert Morris who gained fame as "Financier of the Revolution". General and later President George Washington was a close friend and visited Robert Morris often. In more recent times author James Michener outlined his famous novel, Chesapeake here and fell in love with our renowned crab cakes. More history is located here. Now the Eastern Shore's most unique historic restaurant with rooms under celebrity Chef Proprietor, Mark Salter and Ian Fleming. Enter the Inn and step back 300 years: a pristine yet historic interior welcomes with timber beams, panelled walls and open fires in the cooler months. Through to Salter's Tavern featuring historic red brick walls and old slate floors, with magnificent fires in the cooler months and offering casual outside dining on our Terraces and Veranda during balmy warm summers. This is a truly historic Inn, cosy with a natural patina running through. Friendly, great cuisine and understated professional service. ... more   less
