The Thunderbird Beach Motel is a quaint 63 room motel located in the downtown area of Ocean City, MD. It is on the East side of Baltimore Avenue. Rooms come standard with 2 double beds, mini fridge, microwave, color/cable TV, and Free Wi-Fi. There are also King Rooms available, which contain one King sized bed, with a pull out sofa, and flatscreen TV. There is an outdoor heated swimming pool on site, and is a 30 second walk to the beach!

Be very careful when staying here. They have a thief who cleans the rooms. Put do not disturb signs on both rooms we rented so no staff would enter when we were out. My daughter had pants stolen from her room and my wife had pants stolen from her room. When the housekeeper in question was asked about entering the rooms, she stated my daughter gave her permission to go in. Which my daughter never did. The people who work in the office were very nice during our stay and the rooms were nice. But that does not make up for an employee stealing from us. Will be filing a police report as that housekeeper was the only person besides us who had access to our rooms.

I do not recommend this Motel. The room was small, dated and dirty. I informed the manager that the towels in the bathroom were soiled. Nothing was done. Upon checkout the attendant expressed that the manager had received numerous complaints about soiled linens. The attended also shared that the manager only provide clean or gently used linens to her friends when they stay at the hotel.

I picked the Thunderbird Motel b/c it was very close to the Beach, Jolly Roger (Splash Mountain) and Boardwalk (so I thought) and had a pool:) The motel was great. The front desk staff was AMAZING! Check-in was very pleasant. Our room was VERY clean. It was a typical motel room at the beach. I love any place that offers a refrigerator and microwave:) In the morning there was always housekeeping around to check if you needed anything. The front parking lot is a little tight. The first night there some one slightly hit our car... mirror was bent, I was able to fix but a dent in the finder that I will have to get fix. Of course, they did not leave a note:) I went to the front desk, and they did have video but there was like 4 different cars that parked next to mine and there was no clear video to see who it was. (Even thought we could kind of figure out who it was:)) After that we decided to park behind the motel where they also have parking. I just had to let it go so that I could enjoy what important! A weekend getaway with my daughter!!! The motel was very close to the beach, so it was ok if I had to walk back really quick to get food/water/adult beverages:) instead of carrying it down with all the chairs...etc. We were able to rent an umbrella on the beach for 26.00 for the day. They also offer cabanas for the same price. I cannot review the pool at the motel b/c we did not use it. It looked very nice and while walking by it never seemed over crowed. The motel is close to a lot of restaurants, fast food, and the BEST pizza shop ever (Ripieno's)! I thought we could walk to the boardwalk, so we did.... Yes, the boardwalk starts at 27th street not that far from the hotel. The only problem was we walked and walked and walked until we hit the FUN part! We thought we would catch the tram back but the whole time walking back (32 blocks?) not one tram came pass us. We saw 3 heading down to the pier. We were so confused but we just kept walking and made it back to the Thunderbird Motel and the comfiest beds and pillows we have had in a while:) Made me realize that I need to buy new pillows when we get home! We checked out on a Sunday. My daughter wanted to do the beach before our drive home:) Upon check out they offered us parking until 3 pm and use of the shower room. We did us the shower room which was just perfect enough for us to rinse off and change until we got home:) We loved the Thunderbird and will for sure be coming back soon:)…

The motel was clean! The staff was very courteous and helpful. The pool was clean and well taken care of. The only downfall was being an older person on the third floor with no elevator. Otherwise, I will definitely stay there again!!

First of all I did not give this motel 5 stars because it isn't a 5 star motel. What it is is a very nice typical beach motel. I booked this place for a 1 night stay. When I arrived the office was practicing safe social distancing guidelines by only letting one person in the office at a time. The other people had to stand in line outside and everyone was wearing a mask and they social distanced. The office staff were very friendly and told me everything I need to know about the property. I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of my room when I arrived. The air conditioning was already on and my room was very cool. There were plenty of towels, pillows, etc. and they had very nice toiletries. They told me at the office that if I needed more all I needed to do was ask. The facility in general could use some upgrades, but if you are looking for a nice clean place and can look past the needed upgrades it was ok to stay here. The pool was a little run down, but it served it purpose to take a quick dip and cool off. Again, because of COVID they removed all the chairs around the pool and limited the number of people that could be in the area at one time, and people were complying with this. I did not go to the beach, but I could see that it was within walking distance to the motel out the back. There was plenty of parking although the spaces are tight. I would stay here again.…

I was just in OC for one night and picked this motel. It's right on the beach, walk-able to a lot of restaurants and entertainment options! The room was pretty small but standard. Since it's a motel there is a giant window that faces the walk way but we just kept the curtain closed. The shower temperature would randomly change as well. I like that they offer a shower/changing room that you can access after you check out. It's nice not to have to drive home in wet clothes. For the price, it was a solid stay!

I have never stayed at this hotel before, but what happened to me today was very disappointing. My son is a special needs child (12 YO) and he was to be participating in an event on the beach with the Best Day Foundation - Kids with Special Needs on Saturday 9/7/19. I booked a room with Thunderbird Beach Motel. I was notified that the event was cancelled due to the likelihood of strong winds and rough water due to Hurricane Dorian. I called the hotel to cancel the reservation and told them the reason for the cancellation - they told me that unfortunately they cannot/will not reimburse me for the reservation. So, I paid for a hotel room that I will not be needing, this was a shock, I am very disappointed, and will never again book at this hotel.

It's all about the cheery, helpful ladies at reception; the location only 1/2 block from the beach; and the comfortable beds! Oh, yes, and the pool; the friendly cleaning staff; being just a block from the market and across the side street to Starbuck's in the adjoining hotel; the Jolly Roger Amusement Park just a couple of blocks further south; and situated on a rather quiet street off the main drag. We rented three rooms for our family of five. This was our 3rd visit in the past 2 years! Obviously, there's a lot of RIGHT about this lodging!

So this motel is more about the location than the actual motel. I will say however check in was super easy, fast and staff was friendly. They have an interesting set up in that you need a key to use the AC but this didn’t affect us in anyway. We stayed for 2 nights and all basic needs were met such as a clean room, toiletries etc. the motel is extremely close to the beach and an easy walk to the boardwalk and other main attractions. Worth a stay.

Room is what you would expect from a 2 star hotel. Just the basics. Comfortable bed, clean room, pool on property. Staff was very helpful. Had 2 minor issues and they got it taken care of right away. The location is perfect. Right in the center of all the action and right behind the dunes to the beach.
