We stayed at the funkamatik for my son’s 6th birthday. The house was perfect for a family of 4. The property was beautiful, staff was amazing and helpful. We hiked swallow falls and deep creek state park. We can’t wait to come back again.
My husband and I stayed in the Kaya cabin-perfect romantic getaway in the great outdoors! The cabin had all we needed, and the bed was very comfy and shower was good and hot-perfect after the long hikes we took! The campfire was fun, met another couple while socially distancing. Visited Swallow Falls which is great and only 20 minutes away. Good food at Moonshadow Restaurant, ate outside.
We had a cabin at Blue Moon Rising, and enjoyed our stay very much. We had a family group, and we each had a cabin. We also rented the Phoenix room which worked out very well as it gave us a big kitchen and a place to eat and play games. The staff was very helpful and generous with rides up the hill to our cabin.
My husband and I stayed at Blue Moon Rising for 3 days in August 2020 and we loved it! It was a nice relaxing place with all these cute little cabins. The grounds were beautiful and the staff was extremely nice and accommodating. It is like luxury camping. We stayed in the Cairn Cabin. It had a loft queen bed and then two single beds that act like a couch area. It had everything we needed during our stay- towels, bedding, dish soap, all of the cooking things you need such as bowls/pots/pans/dishes/knives/pot holders etc. You don't need to bring any kitchenware at all. One of the best things about the cabin besides being fully stocked with things, was that it was extremely clean. It was not buggy or dirty even though they have that rustic/cabin feel to them. They do not have AC, but we were able to request a box fan to put up in the loft at night to keep it cool, plus there are a ton of windows and a ceiling fan. The temp in the Deep Creek area was about 15 degrees cooler than in Baltimore area, so we did not have any problems with keeping the cabin cool. It got really nice and cool at night when we left all of the windows open. A few things to note: there are several community camp fire pits on the property which are really nice. The staff will light them for you and you can sit around and chat with other guests and make smores. There isn't a grill/fire pit at each cabin though. My husband and I wanted to be able to grill our food, so we made sure to bring a tiny little charcoal grill with us to use outside of our cabin. The other thing to note is that the hill to get up to the cabins is extremely steep. The staff is there during office hours to drive you up and down on a golf cart to the parking lot. We didn't mind walking up the hill ourselves, but it is definitely a workout! I note this because cars are not allowed up and down to the cabins- you park at the bottom of the hill in the parking lot. (They did allow us to drive our stuff up at check-in/check-out due to covid restrictions). If you go somewhere and come back after office hours, you will have to walk it instead of golf cart. I say this incase you are with someone who is less active or not able to walk up the hill- plan accordingly to be back before the office closes to catch a ride on the golf cart. I would definitely recommend this place! The whole experience is unique and really relaxing. I love that they are environmentally conscious and do things like composting.…
What a wonderful weekend we had at Deep Creek with our family! Blue Moon Rising is so quaint! We loved the setting, the wonderful charm and character of each cabin, and the close proximity to lakes and state parks. Thank you, we will be back!
