We stayed in the Moonshadow cabin the 4th weekend in April. It was very chilly, but beautiful. The tiny cabin is perfect in every way. So peaceful and perfect for a quiet get away. We loved strolling around the cabins and the property. We had an awesome dinner at the Mountain State Brewery. The next day we had a delicious...

Traveling through area and wanted to stay in Deep Creek Lake area. Found 'Tiny Home' cabins on Facebook and Trip Advisor sites. We love the tiny home movement and decided on an overnight stay here. Great place. Easy to find off of Rt 219 with views of the lake 'at this time of the year'. Plan to come back.

This place is just great. The staff are helpful when you need them, but otherwise stay out of your way. The cabin was simply delightful. The property isn't that old, but the condition of the cabin was excellent. We stayed only two days, but I felt so refreshed when we returned home. My only regret: it wasn't warm enough to...

We recently stayed in the Cairn cabin with our two teenage kids and we loved everything about it!!! The cabin is very clean, well appointed with bedding, dishes, cutlery and even home made soap! The surroundings are amazing, the forest, lake view, beautiful sun rise and sunsets! We will definitely return. Thank you Blue Moon Rising- Parau Family.

Quick trip to Deep Creek to look at real estate and opted to stay in Orion at Blue Moon Rising. Excellent choice. Had a wonderfully relaxing evening and great night sleep. Very comfortable accommodations. Our arrival was delayed due to traffic caused by an accident on Route 68, but the Blue Moon Rising staff accommodated the late arrival and got...

The whole family of four spent one night at the Carin cabin. It was perfectly appointed with nice details and simple comfort. We bonded very well and were really motivated to discuss the importance of recycling, composting, energy saving, and water saving. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable. The atmosphere in the morning...

I chose Blue Moon Rising because it was accessible to Washington DC, but far away from the bustle of the city. The location was ideal--on a hill overlooking Deep Creek Lake and at the edge of a forest. The peacefulness was welcome. The cabin was very small, as advertised, but fully functional. I highly recommend BMR if you want to...

Walking around late last night in the winter cold, I could hear an intermittent solitary wind chime in the woods. Try as I could to see it with the light of my headlamp, all I could make out were bare trees. I would turn my back only to hear that chime again. I have been to Deep Creek Lake many...

We stayed at BMR, in the Funkomatic cabin, in December 2016. It was a cold weekend, with light snow the whole time. But nonetheless, it was one of the best travel experiences I've ever had! We were hoping to get ideas and try out down-sized living for a few days, and I can say we learned a great deal that...

Charming little cabin, warm and cozy. Staff was awesome, they helped us tour all the cabins. We are coming back with the kids this summer. I wish we had more time to enjoy the walking trails. The Kaya cabin is perfect for a romantic getaway.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The spirit of the Blue Moon Rising Village is that of a community. We invite you to come experience the beauty of Deep Creek Lake while staying in one of our cabins. Appropriately named Waldens, after the American masterpiece by Henry David Thoreau, our vacation rentals complement the natural landscape of our site, and encourage a sense of community throughout. Each Walden has a unique design and personality, and we hope that our residents enjoy each one for its distinct characteristics. The Waldens were built locally in Cranesville, MD by our friends at Hobbitat. They are primarily built out of locally sourced reclaimed lumber. Bill Thomas and his team carefully crafted the spaces to fully capture what Garrett County Living is all about. While each centimeter of space is as valuable as the next, the design creatively fits the comforts of home into a cabin in the woods. Built in the vein of the tiny home movement, our Waldens provide the best possible use of space for your vacation; a space to rest before your outdoor adventures, and then to relax and reflect afterwards. ... more   less
