Everything stated in the positive reviews is true and more. Ron is a role model host and the home and furnishings are worth the trip by themselves. But do not miss out on strolling in Havre de Grace, a lovely waterfront town with everything in short walking distance from the Guesthouse. From the first call, Ron took the time to find out our interests in visiting Havre de Grace and provided suggestions that were excellent. Extremely gracious, Ron made us feel more than welcome on arrival and was available but never intrusive during our visit. And the cookies and snacks were just a few of the many thoughtful touches provided. Looking for a clean, comfortable, interesting place to stay with a knowledgeable and charming host in a delightful town? La Cle D'Or est magnifique!

Thank you leon for a nice review. How very pleasing. It is always a pleasure to host and tell of HDG history and show some of the fantastic antiques I have been able to acquire. That's part of the fun of operating the B&B for the past 20 years. It has always been a pleasure to host you and your friends from NYC. Thank you, ron browning

We were able to secure a room at La Cle D'or guesthouse while attending a wedding and at the same time/date celebrating our anniversary. So happy we chose this one. Upon arrival, Ron was very welcoming and went over all of the amenities while answering a few questions. He led us to our guest room "The Rochambeau Suite" and gave us a quick tour of the second floor which included a meet and greet area with snacks, water, soda's etc.... and showed us our private bath which was located right off of the bedroom proper. When he left us to settle in, we discovered many period items displayed in the room were actually for sale. Very novel! Check out the web site. We went about our business, a wedding, dinner etc... and returned for a very comfortable nights rest. The morning sun as it comes into the room gave all of the furniture, pictures and pieces a warm welcoming glow. Very, very nice. After we packed up to leave, we had a wonderful conversation with Ron about the town and points of interest. We will be back! Thank you Ron for a great experience.

My husband and I stayed here after viewing the house on line. The pictures do NOT do this exquisite home justice! It is a virtual museum with the most beautiful antiques and Ron the Inn Keeper is a wealth of knowledge on all of the items in the house, as well as amazing knowledge of the towns extensive history. We had a fabulous time dining within walking distance at the restaurants recommended by Ron. When we returned from dinner we retired to our room and were delighted to find that Ron had left us a plate of assorted cookies and chocolates from the local chocolatier. The home was immaculate and incredibly well kept. The continental breakfast was more than we imagined with local cheeses, fresh fruits, croissants, coffee, tea, homemade jams, and variety of cereals. We were thoroughly impressed with every aspect of our stay. This quaint little town was a great get away, even though we live an hour away, we felt transported in time. The accommodations were wonderful and Ron went above and beyond to assure we were comfortable and had everything we might possibly need. His historical knowledge is priceless and we cant wait to go back and see the town in the spring!

We stayed at Ron's B&B for 3 days for the holiday weekend. La Cle D'or was a great place to stay. We'll start with the house: It is an old, unique home with some historical relevance to Maryland (I'll let Ron tell the story). The house is filled with antiques, curiosities, and exotic items throughout. It was like staying in a museum. If you want, you can get a tour of the home by Ron. This was especially nice since it shed light and provided a greater understanding to the historical significance of what I was viewing. The location of the house is also ideal. Everything in town is within an easy walk while also providing an easy retreat when you just want peace and quiet. Ron and his cousin David were great, friendly hosts; very attentive and made us feel welcome in their home the entire time. Finally, Ron is a fountain of information on the local area, from history to people to current happenings. If you have any questions, he's the guy. Also, don't miss the garden out back. It's a great place to sit if it's not too hot outside.
