Best/ Cheapest Scooter rental.

We didnt stay here so i cannot comment about the accomodation or food. We stayed next door in Sunset cottages but because of the insect problem there- i would stay at Lena Cottage next time. Moore sun coming in - less insects. And we found the owner very nice and helpful. We also checked out Lena House 2 , a walking distance away, and we would definetly rather stay there cause moore quiet, better beach for swimming and closer to the snorkelling. Only problem there was that for food you would have to walk back to Lena house 1, but its not a long walk. So we rented a scooter for 2 weeks to cross Flores with and the price was 100.000 rp a day, about 10 times cheaper than the big commercial Balinese company on Flores that also rents. Always try to keep the money on the island, the Balinese for sure doesnt need your money. He has a brother in Labuhan Bajo so you just bring the bike there and pay 400.000 rp extra for him to send it back. Also you pay 400.000 rp deposit which you get back at the other end in case you didnt brake the bike. All in all - a VERY GOOD DEAL. Same can be done the other way.…

Nice place, really bad service

The comment is not really against the place itself, but more about the scooter rental service. We booked a scooter to do the one way trip from maumere to Labuan Bajo, which was confirmed, but the scooter never arrived! We waited for three days, and We werent the only ones. An other couple was in the same situation. The owner really didnt seemed to care and just told us to take the bus ... So if you just plan on staying there, the accommodations are basic but nice, the snorkeling trip is also really nice, but if you are in for the scooter trip... plan some extra days in your planning 😊

I am very sorry for the situation. It was a bad feeling as well for us. The problem with motorbike is if you booked the bikes two three days before and there are some bikes coming from Labuan Bajo to Maumere then what I can do is only promised you that may be there will be some bikes. But then some bikes didn't arrive in time. I tried to contact some friends and other companies in Maumere that have bikes but they don't want to rent for one way. I know Lena house is the only host that Renting one way motorbikes in Maumere, even also in Labuan Bajo. I regret also that you have to wait one day more. But I think you get compensation as well that you didn't need to pay the night you stay for waiting the bikes. I didn't charge you for the night for both couples I remembered. That's my responsibility. But for another couple that already booked two weeks earlier, they get the bike. May be next time if you or your friends or relatives want to rent the bikes again, we can manage better. Since that time, we bought four more bikes for renting. Thank you very much for your correction and critics. Please welcome back anytime. May God bless you.

Great stay and scooter rental

We came especially for the long term scooter renting ,from maumere to Labuan Bajo, to lenas guesthouse. But in the end we stayed 4 nights and really enjoyed it there! The price is cheap, breakfasts is included and the dinner is also very delicious. The bungalows are simple but you have everything you need. We did a snorkeling trip with other guests and we definitely can recommend it! We were 6 people and paid 90.000 rupiah pp (excluding food). We also rented the scooter to go from maumere to Labuan Bajo and the scooter was in a very good condition and we really enjoyed the trip!

Friendly home

We had great time in Lena house, The wood and bamboo bungalow was nice and clean with attached bathroom. Breakfast include with fresh fruits. We had very nice fresh fish most of the time, depends on availbility from the fishermen, we also had a bbq with loads to eat (fish, vegies....) , food is made to order so it can take some time, but always good.. Lots of things to do around, egon volcano and hot springs, villages, snorkeling and dive trips to the islands, the dive sites are just wonderfull and we were the only ones on the spots, got to see sharks, turtle and all panel of colorfull fishes, the drop off at "the crack" is a must see. They also rent scooters, with good tips about road condition and interesting places. And it is also possible to return the bikes in labuan bajo. And most of all, the all family is very friendly and also kind to help. We really had a great stay at Lena house and highly recommand it for any adventurous travellers. We will definitly come back! :).…

Amazing Place

Super nice place on the beach. - Each of the little bamboo cottages has a roofed terrace with a table and to chairs on it. -Lots of space to hang up wet cloth. - Yes there are moscatos (as in most places in the tropics) but there is a Moskitonet hanging over the bed that suits perfectly - clean sheets and bathroom -three power plugs The owner Didacus and his family are super helpful. They organize one way motorbike rental between Labuan Bajo and Maumere. Very new and perfectly running Honda Vario Bikes. Had an amazing trip through Flores, thank you Didakus and Marian!

Great hotel

We absolutely loved our stay at Lena House, basic but good accommodation right on the beach, what more do you want has a good mosquito net , lovely little bathroom and a great little restaurant. This is sometimes what traveling is all about. The only negative “the many French people”

Can’t beat this at this price

Basic accommodation but bed was comfortable enough, good mosquito net, and I slept, awoke and ate with the sound of the waves 10 meters form me at 10 US a day???!!! I do not remember many places where I got this lucky. They clean the room whenever you ask (but ask...). Very helpful on advices and informations needed. I also called Didakus from the airport in Bali before my flight and he explained the different means of getting to his place and prices, and as soon as I got off the plane I knew how to do things and the costs. Nice dive center with decent prices at 10 minutes walk on the beach and the diving on the islands in front was excellent with colourful LIVE corals. There were so few mosquitoes, this is still rainy season, that I really was not bothered at all. Honestly this has been one of the most enchanting week of 2 years (4 times six months) of travel in South east Asia. At that price, it can’t be beaten.…

Deception with motorbike service

We wanted to rent motorbikes and although they were expensive we thought that they had options of renting that were ok for us. On first day we had problems and we wanted to give back the motorbikes, and we had to argue for the money cause they only gives us back half of the money (1 milion, as we paid 2 milion in total and we used them one day, and we had agreed them for 6 DAYS). We think they are friendly but they wanted to take our money no matter what. We dont recommend AT ALL to rent there the motorbikes although they were ok. They have also a guide called Ryan that was friendly but in the end we felt that he got many comission in the places he took us. Restaurants, hostels where we went (for him) were expensive (much more than in the rest of indonesia). He is nice but always wanting to get more money. …

Dear Martha and partner, Thank you for your feedback on our service. We appreciate your information during your trip between Maumere to Labuan Bajo by motorbike. The situation you experienced and did was also the first situation for us. Let me explain some points: 1. Most of people explore shortly the road in Maumere Flores the first day, drive around a little bit, then start their real trip by bikes in the second or third day. You are the only user that using our motorbikes directly just after landing in Maumere, know nothing about the road in Flores, the situation on the road and about people on Sunday afternoon, that driving on the road being drunk after picnic on the beach especially in Maumere area. I think you experienced this thing when you started from Maumere. 2. That's why in the evening you called me to bring back the motorbike from Paga the next day to cancel the renting agreement. And only pay two days of renting which is 400.000 for two bikes. I said yes it is OK. I was waiting for you the next day for getting back our bikes. Also the money for you. But you never shown up..nothing info also that day. Until the next day, the third day, you and Ryan (freelancers guide) called me that you are in Moni and want to drop the bikes in Moni and continue your trip with other transportation. That was three days already my bikes went away from Lena house with you. You need to pay 600.000 for two bikes for three days plus the returning transport cost for the boys to pick up the bikes from Moni. Total 1.000.000. That's reasonable amount. Maybe you think too expensive. I am sorry for this. 3. I called Ryan also to confirm about what you said, he is very disappointed with your perception. He already helped you along the way from Moni to Bajawa, sometimes add a little money for solving your problem if you want to pay less, bring you to the airport for free, looking for a cheaper restaurant, etc... He said he never get commission from any hotel, restaurant or services you paid. Unless free meals because he brings customers there. This is normal for drivers in Flores even busses, small cars, etc. So he is really sad with this accusation. But he accept it as a lesson learned for a better guide. 4. Please let your friends know, although you wrote don't want to recommend our service of renting motorbikes in Flores; that we rent 100.000 rupiah per day for the bike for Maumere to Labuan Bajo and put it in Labuan Bajo. Minimum rental is 6 days. Or the other way round. 5. Thank you very much for your previous feedback.

Don't book here, they don't take reservations

After pleasant contact through email with owner Didakus we arrived at Lena's House to find out there were no bungalows left. Our confirmation email - clearly stating date, price and the type of room - was worth nothing. For 20.000 rupiah less/night we could get a room with a matress on the floor and a shared bathroom with no door. It felt like a slap in the face, the owner didn't apologize or anything. In the end we had a wonderful stay at Sunset Cottages, a few hundred meters further down the road. And, funnily enough, after two days all the bungalows there were taken by people who were originally staying at Lena's House, apparently due to the quality of the bungalows and the difference in service between staff members at Lena's...

Thanks Carlijn for your review. We are very sorry for your inconvenience when you arrived in Lena house. I was out of the place when you arrived. The people (5 people) that moved to Sunset actually extended their stay in our place without planning so when you arrive you just get a spare room on the beach. Sorry for this. We are in a renovating process right now so when you come back in the future, Lena house will be better serving you. I was working on mixing glue in the backyard when you came in the second time to ask about renting transportation. Actually I told you wait for me 20 minutes, but maybe the boy told you 2 minutes so there was misunderstanding that made you upset. Anyway, sorry for all the situation. You can still book our room. No problem at all. We will do our best next time. Thank you. Lena house

Amazing Homestay Hospitality

I stayed at Lenas with my two sons recently and had the greatest time.... the beach has clear, clean water and the family organised boat trips snorkelling for us. Its a great place to get away from it all.... amazing food, amazing hospitality - you couldn't get a friendly bunch of people.
