Loved this place from start to finish. Jason obviously cares about what he does and it really really shows.
My mom and I hiked the C&O and part of the GAP trail. It's less than a mile off the trail and was very easy to find. Frostburg has set up a little outdoor art exhibit that weaves up into the city from the path so it's a nice little hike or ride in.
Walking in it smelled great from the fresh baked cookies and there was good music playing that really set the tone.
He showed us around, it was cozy and cute.
Room had everything you needed including a water cooler and coffee on the second floor so your tired legs don't have to go downstairs to fill your water bottle.
Jason also made us a fantastic vegan dinner which we ate on the porch. We were pretty tired from our day so it was the best ending we could ask for.
Breakfast was also fantastic. We both agreed it was by far the best food we had during the two weeks of hiking.
Highly recommend t

Excellent 4-bedroom beautifully restored home on Main St. Comfy beds and each room has a private bathroom, tv, and fast internet. Very clean and a wonderful breakfast…. thank you Chloe! Owner lives on property, the home is very secure, and washer/dryer is available. Parking front or back and is just a minute or two walk to restaurants, pubs, and other stores. Many of the guests are bicyclists and Jason, the owner, has his own bike shop in the basement and also provides a shuttle service for the nearby bike trail; however this B&B and location is perfect for anyone visiting the area. We will definitely stay here next time we’re in the area.

Our stay was outstanding! The house is cozy and comfortable - we biked into a cold snap in the weather and spent a long time enjoying the fireplace in the common room before walking the two blocks to town for a drink. Comfortable rooms and bathrooms, great location, on-site bike tools and storage... Jason is a great host, food was delicious and he went above and beyond to make sure we had what we needed, and on top of that he's a certified bike mechanic and outstanding chef, so the food and kitchen quality is a full 5 stars. Very highly recommend and would certainly visit again on the next GAP ride

This is more like a hostel than a B and B: peeling paint in the bedroom, a curtain that lets light in, the bathroom door that does not close because the hooks for the mirror are hung over it, but overpriced at $129.

I thought breakfast might redeem it, but apparently, the coffee grinder wasn't working, so we were told to go up to the second floor and use the coffee maker there if we wanted it! I thought the manager might offer to go up there and brew me a cup, but no. The breakfast was barely warm, the bacon and sausage had been made many hours before. and finally, we discovered ants in our bed, which did not seem to surprise the manager.

Wow! Attention to detail, gorgeous house and room, Jason thought of everything. I can't say enough about the wonderful breakfast. The owner was available, generous, and kind. I always felt welcome with lights on on the sitting room, the guest fridge, Culligan water dispensers. We stayed in the Dixon room with the wonderful clawfoot bathtub. Thank you, Jason, Ryan, and Chloe.

If I am back in Frostburg, I would definitely stay here again! I do not often stay in B&Bs and really enjoyed being able to have direct communication with the owner, it makes it a very personalized experience. The location is perfect and everything was clean and cozy. The bed had a very nice mattress and was really comfortable. The made to order breakfast was delicious and we enjoyed that it is mostly vegan options. They were also flexible in making a change to the side that came with breakfast to accommodate a dietary restrictions, which we really appreciated. There is a spacious lounge area for guests downstairs with couches plus shared access to a small refrigerator and microwave. The only thing I would change would be to have the curtains covering the glass transom windows above the doors to the room to be more black-out. They are currently a cute bicycle fabric but it is thin and lets in a lot of light from the hall. If you are sensitive to light while sleeping, I recommend bringing an eye mask. Also, two of the rooms are at the front of the house which faces a busy road, we always travel with a sound machine and that was able to block the road noise, so if you are sensitive to sound, I recommend you do the same.

This is a very bike-friendly guest house in the middle of a college town. The owner is master bike mechanic who can lend advice and tools for adjustments, and he has secure overnight storage for bikes. Jason also happens to be vegan and cooked us up a fine and filling vegan dinner, and breakfasts too. There are plenty of eating choices within walking distance for the carnivores out there. It is UP the hill from the GAP but then EVERYTHING is up the hill ! Easy to get to and you'll feel right at home.

We stayed at the Alleghany Trail House for our stay in Frostburg. We had a very comfortable room as well as access to the public spaces in the house. Jason was a fantastic host and we very much appreciate his culinary creativity for a delicious breakfast. My teenager has a recently-acquired dietary restriction that Jason was easily able to accommodate due to his ingenuity in the kitchen...it was the first and only meal on our trip that she cleaned the plate (literally not a crumb left!)

This spot is just a few blocks from the downtown area and right off of the Great Alleghany Passage. A historical, charming home, the Alleghany Trail House is most definitely worth the stay!

We stayed at the Allegheny Trail House on 4/14/2022 after a somewhat rainy ride from Confluence, PA. Jason greeted us, helped us lug our tandem bicycle and our panniers up to the B&B. There was very secure parking for the bike. Jason then helped us with our luggage up to the room on the 2nd floor. He had good suggestions for places to eat that were within walking distance (appreciated since we didn't want to get back on the bike at that point).

In the morning, the breakfast was GREAT! I especially appreciated the food options since I am a vegetarian. The room itself was roomy, had a TV with cable, and had a bathroom. A minor nit: the bathroom could use a little more counter space (esp. with two people). Jason was a super host and even let us use some lube for our chain! It is a good place to stay if you are riding the GAP (and you get some "bonus climbing" when riding from the trail up to the B&B!) We would definitely stay here again!

We stayed here for one night en route from Pittsburgh to Stepherdstown along the GAP. The home and host were warm and inviting and had the amenities we were hoping for after a long day of bike riding (hoses to clean off our bikes, a secure storage area for them, laundry facilities, a comfortable room, and a delicious breakfast). The Toasted Goat offered a yummy dinner for our group. Perhaps two things to note are that the rooms (I believe all of them) contain double beds (this was fine for us but perhaps some would want to know this) and there was a bit of light that entered our room from the hallway (I like my sleeping space to be pitch black, so if there is a kindred spirit out there, consider packing an eye mask). I would certainly stay here again and would recommend it to anyone who would ask.

Hi. Thanks for your questions. I’m Afraid we are far too distant from the savage river to walk. The closest paddle boarding is at Rocky Gap State Park or Deep Creek Lake, both driving distance. Thanks again! -Jason ATH
