Harry & Leann were kind enough to allow me to use my Groupon on a Fri, charging me $5.83 tax.... Since there was no ‘breakfast’ It would it have been appropriate to waive that nominal fee ? Nothing provided except 2 bottled waters...perhaps pre-packaged muffins... an apple or banana? Oatmeal packet? PROVIDE SOMETHING!? As the facility is not close to anything? I never saw anyone else, so I am thinking I was the only lodger. The Inside dining room is pretty (altho I never sat there) & porch quite scenic. Their kindness ended there. Harry threw his ladder when I was trying to exit what I thought was a one way turnabout. He also snipped at me when I inquired about the microwave working ie plugging it in? It is the only interaction as I never saw them again, even all morning before exiting after 10am. I understand COVID has many stressed. I own multiple rentals—so I GET real estate ownership. However, I am re-thinking those investments along w/my career as a Tour Director. Perhaps they should too? There is NO EXCUSE for rudeness. Things change. One must adapt ..is it a ‘bad Day’ ? or is it time to switch careers? retire out of the ‘inn business?’ I won’t return. There’s so many other places to lodge whereby I am treated with kindly respect.

Looking forward to a lovely romantic weekend... but the details of the quality of the rooms was lacking. The check in process was confusing as it wasn’t explained at all and I had difficulty finding the location when we arrived. We stayed in the coach carriage suite and it seems dated and in need of basic repairs (broken floor tile, uneven sparkle and drywall, stained sink, missing parts of the table lamp). The suite was also ice cold when we arrived, and that was strange. I had booked a massage with the spa but was never told when to schedule or given options of times, and I was glad I asked, because I would have missed the time. The therapist was AMAZING and she took care of all my problem areas (tension in neck and shoulders). The breakfast was good and was a variety of fruit, cereal, yogurt, eggs, waffles, bread. The breakfast was nice and well worth it and the breakfast area is nice. The grounds are lovely too and I am sure they would be nice to enjoy when it wasn’t cold.

Wanted to share my story! Elk Forge Bed and Breakfast Inn, Elkton, MD- Reached out to reschedule our stay today, we are scheduled to go there for a night this Saturday the 15th. My 4 year old daughter has the flu so we thought it would be best if we reschedule. From the beginning he was extremely rude. Explained to me they can only reschedule the spa. We booked a one night stay for $316 and a spa treat at $89. No where do I see their cancellation policy for their rooms, only the spa. He stated they made exceptions because they usually only rent two nights or more. That exception wasn't made for me, that's something they choose to offer their customers. He asked me if I wanted to cancel bc I would be out of $316, I stated let me speak to my husband and I will let him know. He then says “Wow! I see what your priorities are.” He does not know what type of mother I am nor does he know my situation. For him to say that to me is completely outrageous!!! I felt from the very beginning he did not want to help me at all! Extremely rude from the beginning and very unprofessional! I will NEVER ever stay at the Elk Forge and encourage others to do the same 😡

I went here for my birthday weekend after I purchased a Groupon for this B&B. I called to schedule a weekend and I spoke with Harry Lenderman(one of the owners). He was very cordial and amusing over the phone so I assumed our stay would be just fine. Room/Bed: mostly comfy for me but the bed was a wee bit soft in the middle and my boy toy had difficulty getting comfy & sleeping well being drawn to the middle of the bed. But I rolled to the edge and slept very well. Shower is fine unless you are a wide and tall person. The bathtub was gr8!!! There was a microwave and fridge in common areas. The room was on the cooler side but I didn’t mind at all. We ended up putting the heater on (which was built like a fireplace) & that made the room very comfortable. Each room has a theme and the house is painted/wallpapered just like a lot of colonial mansions I have seen. The House: tons of antiques everywhere & bright/clean sitting areas makes this a fun house to walk around and relax in. There is a trail outside on the property that you can walk around as well. It’s not a perfectly kept house but it’s obviously from a colonial era which makes it very interesting. The basement where the spa is is huge. It sports strong stone walls, a servants door and two big open spaces for massage tables. It was a very comfortable room and it wasn’t cold as you would expect a stone basement to be. I was very happy that I could leave my room and get to a spa within a minute. The scrub massage was great! The massage therapist was experienced and had a wealth of knowledge about relaxation and skin care. I felt great after & I will definitely visit again. Breakfast: was great! Cheese Eggs, kielbasa, French toast bake, waffles (make yourself), fruit , cake, apple/cranberry/orange juices, yogurt, cereal, milk, coffee and tea. I was skeptical about the breakfast spread because of a few reviews that I read but I was not disappointed. The hubby and I left full both mornings. The only item that wasn’t consistent was the French toast bake. The Sunday morning we departed the woman who prepares the food said that she had only gotten 4 hrs of sleep preparing breakfast. I will totally stay again. The staff I encountered were generous with their time and assisted us wholeheartedly.
