I was biking the GAP trail and stayed one night in "Bernie's Room". Gail, the proprietor was great to deal with, very friendly, and accommodating. Immaculately clean, inside bike storage, well appointed kitchen, and the bed was comfortable.
Last month 9 of us stayed one night with Gail as we rode our bikes from Pittsburg to DC. Some of us in the group have stayed with her at least a half dozen times. Every year Gail has more space, better designed just for bike people, great accommodations and the best breakfasts you’ll ever find. She knows the area well, is a font of information for bikers going the whole way — where to stay, get snacks/food, repairs, etc. The Inn is always a highlight of our trip.
My partner and I had a wonderful weekend in Cumberland and a lovely stay at the Inn on Decatur. Gail arranged two awesome days of biking on the GAP and C&O trails for us. It was so nice to show and up know that everything was taken care of—from amazing breakfast in the morning to shuttles pre-arranged for our bike rides to packed lunches to keep us going throughout the day. The bathroom was even well-stocked with lots of products to take a relaxing bubble bath after a long day out on the trail. Gail is a gracious and thoughtful host—would highly recommend a stay at the Inn!
The Inn at Decatur is a lovely and quiet place with a generous innkeeper. My husband and adult son stayed here on our way through Cumberland on the GAP and C&O bike trail. In addition to two rooms and 2 bathrooms on the second floor of her house, there is a kitchen and private 2nd floor porch to relax on. Gail is so kind and friendly, and offered to let us use both rooms since no one else was staying there that night. She made a huge breakfast the next morning and encouraged us to take food with us before we left. When in Cumberland, this is the place to stay!
Normally we try to find a bed and breakfast in the country. Although this one was in the historic city, it had a nice green space behind the house and enough trees to give shade. The inn is part antique décor and part whimsical. It will definitely satisfy the art lover in you. We had a large peach colored room and since no one was there had the kitchen and a wonderful shaded porch. It had a private bath. Claw footed tub and shower. If you are biking, you may want to stay at Hostel 9, where we had our breakfast. It was comfortable too, but you can easily store your bike and access the GAP trail in Cumberland. While we stayed at two other inns before in this town that came and went. Gail has been at it for about ten years and runs it well. She is very generous with breakfast! So glad that we came.…
