As previous reviews have said, the Auberge is a destination in itself and not just a great base for exploring the surrounding region. The accommodation is comfortable and beautifully styled, and dinners are a real gastronomic treat, served in a very cozy cave dining room. Patrick and Sabrine made us extremely welcome and Patrick in particular was hugely informative about the local area and indeed all things Tunisian. A very memorable stay and highly recommended, although this perhaps isn’t a place for someone with mobility issues because of the level changes / low ceiling heights, at least in our room.

If you want to experience living in a Berber village but still wanna have good amenities, this is the place. Just don’t go in the winter/cold weather unless you are ready to face the cold. The small yet cozy guesthouse is not yet equipped for the cold and in all honesty, they cannot do much about it except for supplying some extra electric heaters :) everything else, thou, was great: the dishes are amazingly cooked by Sabrine (the wife of the owner/Patrick) and it tastes heavenly!!!; the host (Patrick) is so much fun and a smart guy who’s as enjoyable as his wide collection of fine Tunisian wines; the authentic Berber house and views are reallly nice and their support in helping us plan for different excursions was also very much valued :) overall, the best you can get in the area!

Dear Alexandra, Thank you pointing that we are NOT a modern building with modern insulation but a centuries old traditional house and that during the short winter times, it does get very cold in the area. unless you use our very thick, old traditional wool blankets on top of our duvet ;-) It was such a pleasure having you with us for almost a week and the fact that the both seemed to have felt right at home made it a wonderful time. Hope to see you in spring!! Best wishes - again - for the New Year Patrick & Sabrine

If you are planning a trip to this region, include this unusual three-room hotel in your plans. It is a detonation in itself. We enjoyed an amazing multi-course dinner meal - that is included in the price of your room - that lasted for hours. One of the highlights of our trip in Tunisia. Patrick is a lovely host and his wife is an amazing cook. Amazing. You share meals at a communal table with the other guests. That can be tricky, but we lucked out and had a wonderful evening spent another family who were also guests. So memorable. Tamezret makes a great base to explore this region of the country. This guesthouse can be hard to find using Google maps. But park your car by the main road and use the app to walk to Auberge, and then move your car to be close to it. You can park safely on the street by the Auberge. Be aware that the rooms are unusual - they are creatively designed cave-like rooms that will require you to navigate some narrow stairs and duck your head as you enter the room - but are well worth the effort. Our room had a spacious bathroom on the lower level that was accessed via an interior stairway. A little awkward at night. But it also had a remarkable terrace with views out over the town and surrounding desert. Just marvelous. This place should make Tamezret a destination. Go and enjoy.

An old Berber traditional establishment transformed into a unique auberge by a Belgian and his Tunisian wife, with utmost taste, style, flair, fantasy and respect to tradition. Only three "rooms", furnished, equipped and decorated in a surprising and exciting fashion (just the bathroom and shower was a true piece of art !!). A small terrace outside our room, overlooking the marvelous view from the hill down ... A "cave" (literally "cava", as it contains a tasty selection of wines and various types of liquor) transformed into an intimate dining room to host the excellent dishes (local and international) that are cooked and immediately served by the hosts themselves. We were delighted to have interesting chats with Patrick, our host, exchanging tales and information about Tunisia and the world. All in all, a truly unique experience !!!

Originally we hadn’t planned to stay but after rejigging our itinerary I’m happy to say that this was the best decision of our entire trip. We arrived around 3pm ready to check in and from the moment we saw our room we fell in love, it has beautiful original features with everyday mod cons which makes it practical but unique. Dinner and breakfast was amazing, authentic, locally sourced food. The time and effort that must have gone in, seriously we were very grateful for everything that was done for us whilst there, it made the payment more than worthwhile. I highly recommend Tunisian wine too!! Patrick and his wife work incredibly hard for their guests, we very much felt like a part of the family and were very happy to visit. I’m sad to say we only stayed one night, we wish it had been longer! When can we move in? :-)

an original and authentic place, it was a real old Berber house, everything is well-modernized but the spirit of the place has been kept, even the small doors the berber use to have at that time. Staying there was a great experience even if it was a bit cold in the room at night. the owners were really nice and friendly we really liked discussing with them especially with Patrick, we felt like invited to a friend's place. What we liked the most was the dinner place: "la grotte" and the food which was delicious: a subtle mix between traditional tunisian food and other cuisine, refined, well-balanced and different from what we use to find in tunisian hotels.

I loved the place! It is really interesting to hear the explanation about the Berbers and to have a nice walk around the small village. It is very deserted and this brings a special atmosphere. A very quiet place with high quality food and nespresso coffee! The bed is the best one we had on all our stays in Tunisia so we slept really well. You do have to know that dinner is together with the other guests. I know not all people love that so it is better to know this in advance. The owners are very helpfull and take into account your dietery wishes. For us this was an excellent place

Having spent the better part of fifteen years travelling, I can say that this b&b is one of the best I've ever been to (that includes the five star hotels where I've stayed). The village is small and quiet, the rooms are unique and creatively decorated and the food is outstanding. More than that, though, the owner, Patrick, is very interesting and fun to talk with. I have rarely enjoyed myself more.

I spent 2 night in this lovely place during a motorbike tour in the south of Tunisia. Rooms are comfortable and lots of attention is given to details. Food is simply amazing, Patrik and Sabrine (Owners of the structure) will make sure you are well set and well fed during your stay. Has been a pleasure spending the evenings chatting with Patrik whom has an extensive knowledge of the area. Patrik can also advise on day tours in the surroundings where can visit traditional Berber villages and stunning views. Highly recommendable. Mauro

The perfect place to taste the South of Tunisia. A luxurious room and delicious cuisine ! The village is very small with not much to do, so highly recommended to have a car at hand to drive around the region. Mid-way between South-east and west, the hotel makes a convenient base to discover both, and where to return at night to have a copious dinner pepared by Sabrine, and to sleep in a comfy room that contrasts with the surrounding landscape. My wife and I had loved our stay there.
