My wife and I just returned from three nights at the Brampton Inn. We literally have lost count of the number of times we have visited (including our wedding!). Somehow, it just keeps getting better. The rooms and public areas are beautiful, stylish, comfortable, and pristine. We especially loved the wood-burning fireplace in our room, jacuzzi tub, light-filled kitchen, and cozy den. The food is just insanely good. The breakfasts are unforgettable. I love sweets, so, on this last visit, I had waffles with bourbon butter the first day, French toast the second, and blueberry pancakes this morning. All-day cookies are available too. The evening “tea” time is great; there’s always a savory snack (like deviled eggs or cheese and crackers) and a sweet snack (the lemon bars and hummingbird cake are so good). My wife and I always get their chili dinner delivered to our rooms too. With all that said, what sets the Brampton Inn apart from other luxury hotels and inns we’ve stayed in is the friendly, professional, cozy, and hospitable atmosphere. And that’s all thanks to the people. Dave and Hilari (the owners) are constantly around and love to chat (and, I’m sure, keeping an eye on things to make sure that the quality of every visit stays so high). And the staff is SO great. I literally could list every staff member. Susan especially stood out as going above-and-beyond this trip… but I almost feel bad just listing her because everyone else was great too. We already booked our next visit this summer. Can’t wait for the opportunity to get away from the hustle and bustle of dc to relax at our eastern shore getaway. Last thing: Let’s keep this review to ourselves so that it remains a secret treasure, ok? 😂

Property's Favorite Review
Absolutely dreamy weekend in Marley's cottage. We LOVED the privacy, outdoor shower, Japanese soaking tub, and fresh breakfasts on the porch every morning. Everything was perfect and we cannot wait to make this our home away from home for future visits when we need some R & R.

Such an upsetting and disappointing stay. In short, our room was not at all worth what we paid and I have no idea how this is a 5 star hotel. In long, we rented the Robin’s nest for 4 nights and only stayed there for about 18 hours. It felt like when someone builds an in-law-suite in their basement for as cheap as possible, using only used building materials and furniture that they got for free. Everything there seemed like stuff others had left out for the trash. It desperately needs upgrading or they should stop charging $400+ a night for such a low quality room. I don’t know about you, but I expected better from a “5 star” hotel charging $400+ on a Monday. The online pictures make it look nicer than it is, so I added real pictures so that hopefully nobody else has to go through what we did. When we told staff that we were unhappy with the quality of the room, the only option they gave was a room DOWN-grade, they would not offer any type of refund so we still had to pay for the 3 other nights that we did not stay there for. A no-refund policy is understandable when a customer is cancelling at no fault of the hotel, but it is not ok when a customer comes to a hotel and leaves because the room is so horrible. Mind you that we booked last minute, literally 3 hours prior to our arrival so we only held their reservation for less than a day, it was unreasonable to not refund anything. Issues we had with the room (besides the contractor-grade everything): insanely humid, the doors had no deadbolts, shower floods the bathroom floor, the air ventilation was filthy, ceiling tape falling down, the bathroom fan smelled like it was going to catch fire if you turned it on for just a few seconds, the bed was as hard as the floor, dead and alive bugs in room, no curtains on the bedroom windows (just blinds), etc. I feel like I was robbed. It was a very uncomfortable stay.

We stayed in Poppy’s Retreat. Stairs are very steep to get to the room, but the climb was worth it. The room is pleasant and comfortable. The en-suite bath with a shower, complete with jets, is very spa like. We even took the walking path around the corn fields. Breakfast did not start until 8:30, but fortunately, they were nice and started our breakfast early so we could leave to make a 9AM appointment that we had. Thank you - made our appointment in plenty of time.

We booked the cheapest room and loved it. It's big and clean and sunny with windows on both sides. There is a steep staircase some might struggle with. The shower has jets for two people. We liked the old fashioned key. The food was delicious and plentiful. They really have their act together. Very restful place.

Excellent at every level. We stayed in June 2023 for a short couples getaway and enjoyed every single minute. Location- The inn is located in the northeast corner of the eastern shore and although there isn't a lot in the immediate vicinity (chestertown is a pretty small town) it is a reasonable base to explore the rest of the area. Building/Room Review- The inn consists of a main building with several rooms, breakfast room, patios, porches and fire pit area. I spent a lot of time rocking on the porch under the fans in the AM, during afternoon tea and in the evenings. There are also several cottages sprinkled around the property (but the furthest is a 2 minute walk). We liked the idea of a larger room but wanted the convenience of being in the main building so we chose the Fairy Hill Suite which offered two level room (main room with couch, tables, tv) and an upstairs bedroom with attached bathroom. We think this was the best choice offering space of the cottages and the convenience of an indoor walk to the breakfast room, library and porch. It happed to rain each evening while we were there so this was very convenient. We found the room to be a bit rustic (at first the downstairs area seemed very rustic with colonial style furniture and a very uncomfortable couch but found the upstairs to be very comfortable). If I were to choose another room I would probably go for one of the newer cottages (Marley/Mulberry?) in the back. They didn't seem much more expensive but looked modern, spacious and amenity-filled. Property Review - we spent a lot of time walking around the property as it covered in mowed (but otherwise undeveloped) walking paths. We saw deer walking around each and every day. Breakfast - The breakfast is ample with a baked good, coffee and juice to start as well as a choice of two entrees (usually one of pancakes, french toast waffles and a hot egg entree each day). Each served with potatoes and bacon/sausage. You can also get eggs any which way you like if the main choices don't appeal to you. Service - we were warmly greeted by the owners upon arrival but didn't really see them the rest of the time. However, there were ample staff around the property and each one was friendly and helpful. Overall - I am so glad we stayed here and would highly recommend it for anyone else interested in a relaxing getaway on the eastern shore.

We stayed here in June for our wedding anniversary . We chose the Sunrise cottage. Very nice place , lovely grounds and peaceful . Although there are a lot of lovely touches just a few more would make it perfect . When you have such lovely things why choose to use plastic cups in the bathrooms and plastic cutlery in the sun lounge for afternoon tea. We did ask for fresh milk and it was available but why not place it in the fridge . We asked for extra towels and bath grains and had to ask several times. It was a Sunday and the girl doing afternoon tea did make it pretty clear she was cooking dinner for two. Nice experience but could be fantastic with a few little tweaks

We booked last minute and we lucked out to get the Robin’s Nest! Our party consisted of my husband and myself and our daughters. Our oldest is 15 with Autism and our 10 year old is a full blown tween. BC ( before children) I traveled 90% of the time for work and always stayed in B&B’s because of their beauty and personal service which equaled safety for a woman traveling alone. When we arrived before check in they were very accommodating and let us check in early so we could refrigerate medication and were spoiled from that moment on! It was beautiful, peaceful and the perfect amount of space for us. The spa shower was the best shower ever and their personalized toiletries made my skin smell and feel amazing. We enjoyed the welcome box of chocolate, cookies and tea in the afternoon and the best breakfast we have all ever had . My husband is a foodie and we both worked in Manhattan in the hospitality industry so we have ridiculous expectations. The best part for us was how they treated our girls . They are both gluten free and they went out of their way to make them feel special and provided them gluten free options at every breakfast and made them gluten free cookies and muffins. We were all sad when it was time to go but the to go bag of goodies made it easier ❤️

This place has a lot to offer, especially if staying in a cottage. We chose Marley's & were not disappointed- reserved parking space in covered barn leads to private entrance with covered porch swing & seating area perfect for breakfast. Round corner past hammock to outdoor shower w/ footpath to screened-in porch housing Japanese soaking tub. We enjoyed strolls on property with chickens, a friendly cat, & a mini forest of bamboo. Main house has wrap around porch perfect for afternoon tea & socializing, but it was difficult to leave our little oasis with King bed, above mounted TV, peek-thru to bathroom with steam shower & jetted tub. Wood burning fireplace, wet bar, & seating area. Windows and ceiling fans abound for comfort. Breakfast delivered to door for which we were demanding gremlins always asking for more. Non-intrusive staff drops & retrieves. In-room massage was among best I've had. Not a ton to do in area, but nice walkable downtown with specialty shops. We visited during Sultana Downrigging Festival & were plenty entertained. 30 min drive to Chesapeake City will get you waterfront dining & New Orleans inspired steak house.

This is in a very old building that has new owners (2020). The room & sitting area were comfortable. There are 2 public parlors & breakfast area. There was no one to help with luggage when we arrived in late afternoon & very steep stairs to the rooms & no ramp at the entrance. Check with the inn keepet if mobility is a concern. Brrakfast was adequate, but my scratch waffles are better. There are fredh cookies, teas, etc for the evening. Would return if in the area again

Thank you for your feedback. In addition to the historic manor house, several cottages are available and all photos and descriptions provide appropriate depictions of the property. We are always happy to assist with questions prior to arrival. We were assisting another guest at the time of your arrival and did turn our attention to you and assisted as soon as we had taken care of them. We hope to see you again.
