We rented The White Swan to host our family in Chestertown for a small (20pp) wedding. We hosted a larger party of approx 50 people for a pre-wedding event. The staff was warm and helpful, and the Inn itself perfect for our event. The trees of the back garden create a romantic private backdrop. The interior is steeped in history...

Chestertown is a lovely town and we thought The White Swan a very characterful and indeed stylish place to stay- quite in keeping with the feel of the town.Built in 1730 and was pretty much wholly reconstructed some years ago but certainly has the feel of a genuinely old inn. It has its own little museum, which is unusual in...

Very comfortable stay in this impeccably restored 18th century inn in the center of town. The room had two canopied beds, was quiet as a mouse even though it faced the front, and comfortably furnished with period reproductions. The staff was welcoming, parking (go around the block behind the inn) easy, and the public rooms were charming. If you want...

The White Swan is fine for a place to sleep, but I would not rate it any higher than an average motel. It is VERY rustic. We stayed in the John Lovegood room (shown above in traveler’s photos). The tavern is conveniently located in the middle of town for those going to Chestertown or to visit the college. We had...

We visited Chestertown for its concentration of Federal-era buildings, much resembling Old Town, Alexandria but without the crowds. We kind of blindly walked into White Swan Tavern looking for a room because it was right downtown, good walking, and the exterior looked like something out of the movie "Tom Jones." Indeed, it was built in 1730 but has been almost...

Relaxing comfortable stay at the White Swan, conveniently located on the main street of town near shops and restaurants. We were warmly greeted; accommodations were historic and charming but at the same time luxurious. The afternoon tea and continental breakfast hit the spot; all in all a very nice stay despite rather dreary winter weather.

We were very pleased with the inn. You feel like you stepped back in time as all of the furnishing are very period appropriate. We were provided a small fruit basket when we arrived. Tea in the afternoon included ice tea and lemonade in addition to hot tea or coffee. Mini desserts were also provided. The continental breakfast the next...

We immediately felt like we stepped back in time at this lovely renovated B&B...the suite was amazing, roomy and comfortable. Everyone was so friendly and made us feel like family. Mornings offered fresh coffee and a continental breakfast, then you are invited to a "tea" in the afternoons with little desserts. White Swan is in the center of town and...

We stay here every year for the Chestertown Tea Party. This B and B is right in the center of all the activity, walking distance to the river, resaurants and shops. The rooms are nicely appointed with period furniture that is comfortable. Modern amenities include wifi and TV. Breakfast in the dining room or patio is relaxing. afternoon tea is...

We have spent the weekend at other B & B's in the area but never right in town. We loved having a convenient place to park and then walking everywhere around Chestertown. We never moved the car all weekend. The Tavern was not full and we received an upgrade upon our arrival without even asking--nice touch! One of us had...
