Emailed this to the hotel manager and never received a reply…

A few glitches with our visit

1. After checking in and unpacking, I went to take a shower and had no hot water. After about 15 min, your engineer came up to confirm that the water was cold and told us the same happened in that room the night before.

2. We called the desk for a new room. The clerk said he didn’t know if you had any, put us on hold and after a few minutes hung up. We packed our stuff, went down stairs and waited in line for a clerk.

3. We were given a new room, 1541, and the clerk offered us 5000 Bonvoy points or breakfast. We opted for the latter and he said he would have to call the hostess to let her know.

4. Room 1541 had an empty soda bottle in the fridge and the coffee/tea box had not been totally refilled.

5. This morning we went down for breakfast. The hostess, Caitlyn (who was very nice) said she had no notice of our complimentary breakfast and asked us to take a seat while she checked. About 12-15 minutes later when we were ready to leave, the hostess came back and said she had to get approval from the general manager ( which she did) and asked us to please stay for breakfast. We did and your buffet was quite good.

We try to only stay at Marriott properties as service and quality are most often superb. Perhaps this stay was made more aggravating by the fact that we were up at 5:30 am and drove over 9 hours to get here. Of all the mishaps, the one that bothered us most was that the clerk never followed through. Your front desk was busy but he could have made himself a note.

…just some constructive criticism. We only stay at Marriott properties as we know we can count on your quality and service.

P.s….and another shout out to your breakfast hostess (Caitlyn?) who was very nice!

This was a two night stay for NIH; the hotel I have stayed in each trip since 2013. There were times in recent years that the room lacked good housekeeping even though all other services were great. The trip in February again proved lacking and after Parama showed me several other rooms that were not suitable, one was found suitable. Parama was very considerate and kind no matter how long it took to show and select room. It was late by time finally able to get to room. There was no hot water, unfortunately, even after running the water for an extremely long time that only became lightly warm. Other employees who were exceptional were Christian and Xavier. All had attitude of "aim to please". They did thank me for reporting the issues to all. Carla, the executive administrative assistant, added bonus points. One night was also comped. Even though I had been encouraged by representatives handling travel for my visit to stay at a different hotel prior to booking, I chose not to. This hotel is my first choice every time I have traveled to Bethesda. I will continue to do so if I have the ability to choose my accommodations. Thank you to the staff at Bethesda Marriott.

ElleRo777, It sounds like you've developed a longstanding relationship with the Bethesda Marriott and have had mostly positive experiences over the years. It's great to hear that Parama, Christian, Xavier, and Carla went above and beyond to ensure your comfort and address any issues you encountered during your recent stay. Their dedication to customer service and willingness to accommodate your needs speaks volumes about the quality of service at the hotel. It's also wonderful that they took your feedback seriously and took steps to rectify the situation, including comping one night of your stay. It's no wonder you continue to choose Bethesda Marriott as your preferred accommodation when visiting NIH. Your loyalty is a testament to the exceptional service provided by the staff

We chose this hotel as it was very close to the places we planned to go to. It is located just off of I495, which made it very convenient for us. The rooms we had were very comfortable and had a nice, airy feel and vibe to them. The desk was a bit on the small side, but that was really the only thing to quibble about. The restaurant had very good food offerings throughout the day, and we were pleased with the entrees and food selections. The M Club lounge was a nice place to get work done and relax, with beverages and snacks available pretty much any time of the day. And the fitness center is one of the best we’ve seen at any hotel. It is spacious with lots of options for weights and cardio.

Summed up, we were very pleased with our stay here at the Bethesda Marriott. We would happily stay here again in the future.

Staff was very friendly and did everything they could to try and improve our stay. Checked in later in the evening and went straight to bed. In the morning we noticed a spill/stain on the floor that was not fully cleaned and a towel draped over the shower bar that we did not put there. Asked to change rooms but initially they tried to just clean the room. Stain was still slightly visible and felt like that was the only area that was treated. We were moved to a new room that was cleaner but still noticed some smaller things like fingerprints on the light switches and dust on the blinds and on the floor in some areas. Door was also visibly damaged and did not close on it's on. Staff was very accommodating but it did not feel like the rooms were thoroughly cleaned. There was a lot going on that week with paving in the parking lot and several hours one day without water in the hotel that could have certainly played a role in things not being up to standard.

rcmc17, It sounds like your stay had some ups and downs. It's great to hear that the staff were friendly and accommodating, and that they tried to address your concerns, but it's disappointing that the room cleanliness didn't meet your expectations. It’s understandable that the ongoing maintenance work and water issues could have impacted the overall experience. Your feedback helps our team improve their cleaning procedures and maintenance issues. It’s always helpful to share these details so that we can continue to enhance our guest experience.

I could not find a hotel in DC so I’d picked out a hotel outside of the city to book for a single night I was held in the lobby for 3 hours because they wanted to give me a room for people with a disability. I’ve already mentioned that I didn’t want one, but they’ve insisted When I got to my room, the equipments that my community uses are outdated, and they were extinct in 2000. The only thing that was working is the door bell with the lights. I felt that this could have been avoided if they’ve simply gave me a regular room. When I’d ordered a room service, nobody had notified me that someone came by to drop off the food, and I’d asked the front lobby for my meals from the restaurant. They said that someone had come up and I’d asked them if they used the doorbell which was clearly on the floor. They didn’t. I got compensated for the meals, but the trouble could have been avoided only if the staff were educated with the modern technology instead of those outdated ones. I would love to give them a proper training, but other than this the room was amazing. I was able to sleep and check out the next day into another hotel in the city.

It's a great stay. It's located far enough from the noise, but close enough to transportation routes. Rooms are spacious and thought-through. Beds are extremely comfortable, food at the restaurant (available for room-service) is delicious (I would recommend crab cake burgers). Personnel is friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed my stay.

Last month I stayed for a day at the Marriott Bethesda hotel with my family. The stay was indeed delightful. The front desk was very courteous and helpful. The room with two queen beds at the fifteenth floor was big, cozy and with a nice view. The room was clean, beds and pillows were really comfortable. Room amenities were great, as expected at Marriott.

In the evening, we had dinner at the Coopers Mill restaurant at the hotel. Food was delectable, prepared with fresh ingredients. Our server Miguel attended our table with great care. Floor manager Ruben also stopped by diligently to check on us. That day was myI son’s eleventh birthday. Once the restaurant and hotel management knew about it, they brought in a pleasantly surprise treat of cake, candles and decorations for my son. Bartender Joe at the restaurant took the time to make these arrangements. Miguel, Ruben, Joe and a few other staff from the hotel presented this delightful treat to him, sang him birthday wish. This truly wasmore than we expected to get at our stay there.

We definitely will come and stay at this Marriott Bethesda hotel again. It was an extremely pleasant experience.

This was the 3rd time I have had to stay in the area and each time I have stayed here. The beds are great, good firm pillows and the lounge offered a different variety of snacks each day. The onsite restaurant was pretty good as well. There are not a lot of food choices within a couple miles so its nice to know the hotel restaurant offered a great variety. If you are visiting the NIH you will be pleased to know that the hotel operates a shuttle to and from their in addition to the NIH's shuttle.

I stayed at this hotel about twenty times, five nights each stay, over a couple of years. For the first year and a half I was happy there. Staff were generally pleasant, and I attained Titanium Elite status, so I had free (delicious) buffet breakfasts. Then one visit I checked in, went to my room, and within a few hours realized the air conditioning didn't work. The staff gave me a different room, where the air conditioning worked but the heating didn't. They gave me a space heater. All of that was okay, not ideal but I'm not fussy, and I made a reservation for the next month. When I checked into that room I found the air conditioning didn't work. This time I didn't report the problem because it was winter and I wasn't worried about excessive heat. After that stay I went to the company website and wrote what I thought was an anonymous note in which I reported my experience. Via email I received an apology and the promise of a free night, which I hadn't requested and planned not to use. I reserved for the following month (and found later that the free night had been applied). When I checked into my room on that visit I found the air conditioning didn't work. Three times in a row is enough. I miss the breakfasts, and no other hotel offers a location so convenient to my purposes, but I've signed up with Hilton, and I'll see how that goes.

Hi, do they have a longue for Gold Elite members?? How is the breakfast? Longue is open till what time???
Answer from Steven B

Yes they have a New Concept called the M Lounge. It's very nice and you can actually get bored and some limited food service in there so there's more service then the old counselors lounges. There is a regular bar downstairs and it's really nice. Not sure how late it's open but I think 12 or 1 a.m. it's open pretty late I've never actually seen at close before I gone to sleep. The breakfast is excellent and the way they have the M Lounge setup is that it's private but next to the restaurant so you have access to the larger restaurant buffet.
