I have traveled extensively and usually provide positive feedback. This hotel is the worst I have ever stayed at by far. It was old, dirty and smelled bad. The price is too high for what you get. The room was very small and outdated. The bathroom and shower were tiny. Hot water was not consistent. There is no vanity to place a toothbrush or to do your makeup. The shower sprays water onto the floor. The tile never dries. I had to wear flip flops each time i entered. The bathroom door does not lock. Does not give you privacy. The location is ok but train goes by every so often and is very loud. Woke up my child a few times during our 2 night stay. The bed is very uncomfortable. Some of the bed linens had holes. The towels were tiny scratchy and they only gave us 2. I am so disappointed that I booked this room. I should have read the other online reviews. Most share my opinion. Waste of money and a ruined vacation.

We stayed in cabin number 16 and enjoy it is a lot. We love the privacy and cleanliness and overall friendly atmosphere at the Motel. We love Maine and travel to Wells or Ogunquit at least three times every year and stay at quite a few places. We'll be back in late summer.

When Can I say about my experience at the Tallwood Motel… First of all, I am not used to write a bad review. As a big traveller this is definitely the worst experience I had. I booked 2 nights at the Tallwood Motel via booking.com, a website that I often use to book my accommodation. I used my Visa Debit to book (the payment method I always use), because it is a Visa Debit, I have to put the amount in my bank account in the Visa Section. I booked and I received by email the number of the confirmation and everything telling me that the reservation was done. The day after, when I went in my bank account, I saw the amount of the reservation still in my account. I called at this time the Tallwood Motel to see why it wasn’t paid. The receptionist told me: You don’t have to worry at all, you pay everything when you get here only. You have nothing to pay in advance, we do the transaction when you arrive at the reception. It made things easier for me, because was parents was paying for our room as a gift, so they wouldn’t have to reimburse me, only have to pay when we all get there. I put the money back from the visa section, in my checking account. All happy to start our trip in the Maine, we arrived at the Tallwood Motel at 7:07pm. As soon as we got in the parking of the motel, I received (at 7:04pm which was 3 minutes before our arrival) a text message from the Tallwood Motel, mentioning that my reservation was cancelled because the payment was declined. Without a second we were in the reception of the motel. I gave to the receptionist the name of the reservation, and the guy told me right away that the reservation was cancelled. I explained to him that I received the SMS 3 minutes ago, and that he told me over the phone a week before that I was going to pay everything arrived at the motel only. He was very rude and was screaming to speak over me, even if we were all calm. I was trying to understand how in 3 minutes our room was booked, but nothing to do, he only wanted us to leave. The funniest part is that a couple also from Quebec was there at the same time, and was experiencing the same problem as us. No more places (3 minutes following the text message they sent us), no solution, no help AT ALL. We are at the Tallwood Motel at 7pm, during the Thanksgiving weekend. Everything was booked everywhere. We went to the Franciscan Guest House which was by the way SO much better located and also prettier. Everything room was booked, but the woman at the reception was so helpful. She called the manager who found us a spare room for both nights, at the same price we were supposed to pay at the Tallwood, but in addition breakfast included. I am so thankful to them. I do not recommend to anyone the Tallwood Motel. The location at the Franciscan Guest House was amazing, short walk to the beach, and 5 minutes walk from all restaurants and shops.

The front desk person was polite and helpful. The pool was nice/clean but the room was gross and there were cockroaches in the bathroom which I brought to their attention and all they said was "we will look into it." The bed was uncomfortable. I wouldn't stay there again.
