My husband and I visited the Inn for a 4 day get away. We where welcomed by Julie and Brian who made our stay welcoming and catered to all of our needs. A welcome tray of snacks and champagne greeted us in our cottage. I highly recommend the cottage. It is separated from the inn and is very private. It also has a patio with its own fire pit and overlooks the lake. Every morning we had a home cooked breakfast. Terri is a wonderful cook. I highly recommend her fresh baked banana bread. We entertained ourselves with the kayaks and paddle boards provided at the lake front. There is also a pool table and multiple board games are available. The Inn is close to hiking trails which we enjoyed. I can only say if you can go for a visit to this lovely Inn GO!!!Julie and Brian far exceeded all expectations. We are already planning another trip.

I was planning a weekend getaway for my girlfriend and I who was visiting from LA and came across the Bear Mountain Inn while looking at lift tickets for Shawnee Peak. After falling in love with the photos, I reached out and spoke with Julie on the phone. We made an instant connection and it was clear from even the phone call that this would be a perfect romantic getaway for us. The drive to the Inn was scenic with beautiful views and everything you imagine when you think of picturesque Maine. We arrived and as we walked in were immediately greeted with a huge smile and hug from Julie. Her joy was contagious and Brian joined soon after in a matching Bear Mountain Inn sweatshirt with a similar beaming smile. We picked out what we wanted for breakfast, more on that later, and then proceeded to get the grand tour. The Inn is BEAUTIFUL. Everything is intentional and done with care. From the room decor to the bar, you will instantly feel both at home and at rest. Since the occupancy was low that night, we were given a free room upgrade to the Red Oak. The room was perfect. An indoor fireplace, small kitchenette, a beautiful bathroom that had both a tub and shower, and a very comfortable bed. With hugs goodbye from our wonderful hosts we went into town for dinner. We highly recommend the Standard Gastropub in town. On return we used the hot tub (tip: set the hot tub to your desired temperature a few hours before you plan to use it) which is out under the stars. The next morning we had coffee in front of our in-room fireplace and then ventured downstairs for breakfast, where we once again were greeted with smiles from Julie and Brian as they prepared breakfast. Breakfast was perfect. Local brewed coffee, fresh homemade banana bread, fresh fruit, eggs to order, bacon, and perfectly seasoned potatoes. If you are looking for new friends and a place that feels like home, the Bear Mountain Inn is second to none. We will absolutely be coming back year after year to celebrate our anniversary.

This is a gorgeous resort, with a true rustic, Maine feel. We went for a wedding weekend and stayed in the post and beam building. The woodwork is beautiful, the view is gorgeous, and the owners are delightful. The breakfast was one of the best I’ve ever had. Check it out, well worth a weekend and the drive!

My wife and I, along with other family members spent 3 1/2 days in this rustic inn, about 75 mins North of Portland, previously converted from a family farm. Set in a beautiful lakeside location and offering nice accommodations. The inn has a friendly, relaxing atmosphere provided by proprietor’s Brian and Julie, who also reside on the property. Excellent down-home, country breakfasts each morning with superb locally brewed Swift River coffee. I only wish the bathroom had a regular locking door instead of a sliding door and a couple of higher placed clothes hooks in the bathroom to hang items (not everyone is two feet tall). A folding luggage rack in the room would have been nice too. One especially neat feature was the in-room “faux wood-stove” (quartz heater) that not only provided comfort but was just so cool to sit near while reading. Overall, it is a fantastic place, run by a very welcoming couple and staff. Although, they mostly accommodate for weddings and special events, my wife and I would gladly go back for a relaxing, back-to-nature weekend in Maine if accommodations are available.

Hi Mark, thank you for the wonderful review! We greatly appreciate the feedback and will add higher hooks in the bathroom. We had to use a sliding door because the space too tight for a swinging door, but will add a better lock on it. We will also add a luggage rack. Thanks again for the great suggestions and we look forward to having you back soon!

We went to the Bear Mountain Inn for a wedding. The property is beautiful and guests can hike and walk the grounds. There is a lake with canoes and kayaks, and an area for a fire. The owners are very nice and the breakfasts in the morning were wonderful. The rooms are nice with very fluffy and comfy robes you can use. We had a very enjoyable experience there. The only complaint I have is that the staff kicked out the wedding guests who were not staying at the inn at 10:00 that night. As much as the couple payed for everything we thought it was a bit ridiculous to make their guests leave so early. Not only that, but the girl requesting that people leave was not very nice. Maybe it's because she was quite pregnant, but we did not appreciate the way she spoke to us. She even asked for me to "prove" I was staying there by telling her the room name we were in. Despite that, it was a very memorable stay and we enjoyed our time there.

Hi Lori, we are so happy you had a wonderful time! We understand the disappointment of guests not staying on property having to depart from a fun evening. Due to liability with our liquor licensing and insurance, guests who are not staying on property are asked to depart at the end of the reception which was agreed upon in the contract with our bride and groom. Staff members may ask guests where they are staying to identify those staying on property. We apologize if a member of our staff came off as not being nice. She is usually very courteous with guests, and we will talk with her. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience! Warm regards, Brian and Julie
