I’ve traveled a lot and have stayed at many a B&B. And hands-down, the Bear Mountain Inn is simply the best I’ve ever experienced. The owners Brian & Julie have cultivated a place that’s so classy, charming & personable, and it possesses an endless array of thoughtful & incredible touches. The most hospitable cook in the world, Terri, tailors breakfasts to your liking (her banana bread is worth the price of admission alone). My goodness. It’s a complete luxe experience but at surprisingly affordable rates. Oh! And the grounds themselves - the sprawling landscape overlooks the vast beauty of Bear Pond itself where kayaks, paddle boards, and canoes await you, which are all included. I’m giving this place 5 Stars only because I can’t give it 6 or 7. Do yourself & your loved ones a huge favor, and STAY AT THIS PLACE. It’s the total package.…
The Bear Mountain Inn exceeded every expectation we had for our son and new daughter-in-law's wedding. Every room was beyond beautiful. The best word to describe the Inn (other than addressing its luxurious yet homey feel) is thoughtful. Attractive hallway lighting that is motion activated, mini fridge and keurigs in the rooms and the hall with coffee, tea, bottled water, creamers. Bath salts for the soaking tub and beautiful bath products in the shower. Microwave popcorn and granola bars by the microwave, a variety of chargers in the sitting area along with pre-made smores kits for the fireplace or fire pit outside, the owner Brian's cold brew coffee in the breakfast room fridge with almond milk for the no-dairy crowd. A truly delicious breakfast each morning with options for all dietary needs. With the hubbub of the wedding and trying to tend to our familiy and friends, owners Brian and Julie were a calming and cheerful influence. Our coal fired mobile pizza and gelato rehearsal dinner ran like a charm. The following day, the rain hurried through before the ceremony and we enjoyed a spectacular backdrop as my son and his bride exchanged their heartfelt vows. The reception in the barn was beautifully managed and the evening was simply magical. The rest of the weekend was filled with lawn games, hiking, kayaks, and a really long nap in a comfy hammock. The place is beautiful, the owners and staff just the nicest people - you won't be disappointed. The only caveat is if you are traveling with older folks, the stairs to the second and third floors may be a challenge (opt for the cottage or the first floor Blue Spruce room) We'll be back!…
We went for a family wedding with our boys ages 4 and 7 and had THE BEST time. Canoeing, stand up paddle boarding, lawn games, board games, card game, even hot tubing on a 90 degree day. Fire pit and s’mores at night. Kids never asked for tablets or TV. Beautiful and relaxing setting. Best part (best is probably not the right word), our 4 yo had a massive nose bleed on his button down shirt 1 hour before the wedding where he was the ring bearer. Julie took the shirt and got it washed and dried with time to spare before the wedding. Incredible service.
This newly renovated inn has all the charm of a historic inn with all the modern conveniences that we've all become accustomed to... Everyone was willing to go out of their way to make our stay more pleasant! The inn was beautifully decorated, super clean, had a fantastic breakfast, a great pub, and picturesque views! We'll definitely be back! Rod & Colleen, Bayside Resort Hotel, Cape Cod.
It was refreshing to be met with such warm hospitality after a 5 1/2 hour drive to Maine. This genuine hospitality continued throughout the weekend at the Bear Mountain Inn with Julie, Brian and Josh who made sure that our stay was perfect in every way and Terri, who prepared the most scrumptious breakfasts. The wedding ceremony that my husband and I attended was by a nearby lake, and with the sun peeking through the trees, which made for a beautiful backdrop. Afterwards, we enjoyed a lovely cocktail hour and reception in the rustic, yet stunning barn, adorned with two crystal chandeliers. The Inn has been elegantly renovated with modern amenities and exquisite taste, that only accentuates the character of this destination. My husband and I can't speak more highly of our stay here and we plan to return in the near future.…
Loved the Mountain Ash room! Lovely sitting area overlooking the front of the house and toward the lake, gorgeous bathroom, great amenities, perfect B&B stay! We could only stay one night, but took advantage of the canoe early the next morning to go around the lake and then partook of a sumptuous and delicious breakfast. The owners and hosts were friendly and helpful with whatever we asked or needed. A gorgeous property and welcoming stay.
My wife, three children, and I stayed at the inn for the weekend to celebrate my niece’s wedding. I can not say enough good about the inn and their staff. Everyone was friendly and kind. The inn was clean and welcoming. The food and snacks were a delight! If you are looking to get away for a weekend for any reason, this is the place to go. I highly recommend!!!
I was here for a friend's wedding two weeks ago. A few guests (5 of us) were sitting on the benches chatting and catching up with each other the night of the wedding rehearsal. The owner of this place came up to us, and asked that we leave since we were not in the rehearsal at that moment. It was still early in the evening (bright summer evening), and we were not causing any disruption. We were invited there by the bride and the groom. We were not trespassers. We were shocked to be treated that way but left immediately as instructed by the owner. The next day... at the wedding reception, there were some seating issues, which the bride and the groom parties were sorting out. In the midst of this, the venue owner again came up to us (3 of us) and asked us to leave. We were escorted out by another staff member WHILE we were literally leaving the space. The rationale was that there wasn't enough space, and that we had to leave. We found out later that seating was eventually arranged for everyone but we had been kicked out of the wedding reception by the owner. Given the pattern of behavior, unfortunately, I am having a hard time coming up with a rational explanation for why we were treated in this manner repeatedly. The only explanation is: we are non-white; we are brown. I strongly believe that this would not have happened if were white. We were racially profiled, robbed of our dignity, and treated in an extremely humiliating way. We were told by the owner to vacate the premises during a dear friend's wedding we came to attend from as far as the west coast. This was a scarring, eye-opening experience, one that will be difficult to forget. I am writing this review as a heads up to those who might be considering this venue, especially individuals that are non-white. I hope you find a different venue that treats you with respect and values your humanity.…
The place is beautiful no doubt but the owners of this place are racist. I attented a wedding there and there were issues with space at the reception. The owners/manager misbehaved with 3 of us who were brown and waiting at the reception door and rudely told us to leave the wedding reception several times because there was no space. They could have taken a more professional approach and be more accommodating to us. We were close friends to both the bride and groom all dressed up for the wedding ( we did not look like we were trespassing the property). I think this is systemic racism and would have never happened if we were white. The owner was monitoring the Inn 24×7 and told us to leave the wedding venue during the wedding reception. So yeah be careful of booking this place if you are not white.…
Our stay at the Inn was perfect! We booked it as a weekend getaway and a visit with friends, and partly out of stubbornness, as we couldn’t make it in the summer. We visited in March, and even in mud season found the Inn beautiful and the hosts exceptional. The Inn is also dog friendly in some rooms, and our dog loved it too! The cottage where we stayed didn’t look like much from outside, but was perfectly appointed inside, cozy and comfortable. I wish we had stayed the week! Breakfast, too, amazing! We will certainly be back!
