Checked in on the Friday afternoon. Very smooth procedure and the GM Debbie made sure we were all sorted very quickly so we could get to the chalet. Chalet incredibly luxurious and well equipped/spacious. Beautiful scenery and made for a very peaceful weekend. Will definitely visit again soon.
From the start to the finish of our stay we were treated like VIP’s, very professional and friendly staff. You can charge your batteries in a place where time is standing still.. oases from the busy ratrace😁 highly recommended! 5-star self catering cottages, very romantic.
We stayed in the Log Cabin 1A at the entrance to the Resort. The welcome was as good as it gets. A glass of sherry was enjoyed while the two ladies gave us a introduction to the Resort. The Log Cabin is a three bedroom unit with two bathrooms. The spacious open plan lounge/dining room/kitchen led out onto a wooden deck with built in braai overlooking its own trout dam. We enjoyed our meals while watching a malachite King Fisher diving for its own feast and each morning and evening we looked out for a duck mother with her 9 strong brood, alternating sheltering them under her wings and teaching them to look for food and improving their paddling skills. Two yellow billed kites occupied the top branches of a dead tree in the water every evening and may have been the reason that the duck brood was only 7 when we left. It was January 2020 and the lush vegetation and beautiful scenery along the Kamberg and Dargle Roads made the lunches we enjoyed at Granny Mouse and Notties Pub even more special. Nothing is better than seeing green cornfields, a herd of Appaloosas and stunning scenery of mountains and dams in the valleys forming well maintained farming lands. I could go on and on. Debbie and her team run a tip top resort and my only concern is that other people might want to go there and restrict my ability to return!!!…
We have stayed here several times, and always enjoy our stay. We did however find this (midweek) stay most distressing. The cottage is not geared to ease the summer heat - no cooling except for black out curtains, and for 3 bedrooms we had two table fans. No ceiling fans. Please provide light summer throws for the beds instead of the heavy winter blankets. We found the large outdoor umbrella broken and waited two days to get it replaced. It was too hot to sit on the deck after 7am. We faced flies everywhere- the fly swats were ineffective, the can of "Doom" made no difference. we could not open a door nor a window. We resorted to wetting the end of our bathtowels and beating flies in the kitchen, the pantry, the dining room, the lounge, every curtain, the bed, the bathroom, the ceilings. It was horrible. At least the resort could have done more to help us guests. One fly trap in the tree outside is hardly enough. Fly strips indoors and at each door would help. We wont book a stay in summer again. Pity as the swimming pool is so lovely. Oh well!…
This was my first visit with friends. It’s lovely and I would go again BUT not in the height of Summer. The flies and mosquitoes were dreadful and maybe not enough was done to lessen them. Fly screens would be an obvious and not too expensive addition. Our fan wasn’t working and the lack of any trees made it a very hot place to be, specially as our umbrella was only fixed at the end of our stay. There seemed to be a lack of any managerial presence, although the lady in the office was lovely.. The Nguni cattle were beautiful and a real draw. Lovely but maybe not Dec-March....
