We visited in September 2018. Met by the owner Tom, who showed us around and provided recommendations for dinner. His wife made a wonderful breakfast fitting of a B & B. Rooms and bathroom were immaculate. The garden and lake view were spectacular. A little piece of home, snuggled in a quaint little town. We thoroughly enjoyed our overnight stay.

Thanks for your very kind comments. Glad you enjoyed the view of the river. Even locals are surprised by the nice water views we have from our in-town location. While we vary our breakfast daily we continue to believe that serving a great breakfast in a nice setting is an essential part of staying a t a B & B. We hope to have you stsay with us again.

I found this B and B in Yankee magazine's October issue, "Best 5 Cozy B and B's in New England." We booked with another couple for December as there were many activities in that area and the price was right (off-season) and an easy drive from Boston. The B and B is just a short drive across the bridge from the charming town of Brunswick. Lots of restaurants and shops and very festive for the holidays. Tom and Judy have been doing this for over 20 years. They work together like a hand and glove. They were so accommodating and did everything to make our stay perfect. The breakfasts were fabulous. The sitting rooms on the main floor were so cozy and inviting with charming holiday decorations. Great place for us to read and play games by the fire. The bed had flannel sheets and quilts, oh so comfortable!

Excellent location, 20 minutes to Freeport. The decor was exactly what one would expect of an original Maine house, in an old mill town. The host were exceptionally helpful, and pleasant. The breakfast was an absolute delight. They had a wide selection of tea, coffee, and juices. I had asked for hot cocoa which was not listed. They made some up with real milk. The breakfast started with fresh melon, and peanutbutter muffins. The main meal was a popover filled with mixed berries, and whipped cream. A small cheese omelet, and bacon finished it off. Overall wonderful experience, will come again.

We stayed in The Black Lantern B&B for 1 night during October. We received a warm welcome by Tom who showed us around in this beautifully decorated home (nice autumn decoration with lots of lights - very tastefully done). The room was very comfortable (very good mattress) with beautiful views of the river at the back of the garden (which is really nice to explore). We appreciated the use of the downstairs area in the evening! We felt very much at home. This place is so much more than a standard B&B!!! We met Judy in the morning at breakfast (which was delicious). Loved the coffee mugs (thank you again for the nice gesture). Tom and Judy gave us some tips for things to see and do along the way to Bar Harbor which turned out to be highlights of our trip. We loved chatting with them about their visit to Belgium (Christmas markets), and other travel experiences. This made our visit so much more personal. We definitely recommend staying with Tom and Judy. We feel it was our best stay during our 18-days trip in New England. We really hope we have the opportunity to stay again....

Beautiful home and property. Plenty of privacy. Well equipped. On the river. Outstanding and varied breakfasts. Comfortable beds (we stayed in 2 of the 3 rooms). Hosts Judy and Tom know how to give their guests the best experience. Because there are just 3 rooms, our experience was different from a larger B&B with many rooms. This is not an Inn, it's an extension of a home and yet the owners' section is set apart. This helps to make it the perfect B&B experience. We enjoyed meeting the other few guests each morning to hear what they had been doing, and got to know the owners during our week there. Tom and Judy have been there many years and are happy to share their knowledge of the area. Their advice of where to go and what to see in the time we had, never disappointed. They've really got this down and seem tireless. Loved our stay!
