On our way to Canada I decided to try and skip chain hotels and try locally owned Motels and Inns. Of the four places I booked the Mountain View was very near the top. It was everything I expected as the title suggests, plus the location is great. It’s nearby Sugarloaf and a few ( very few in early summer, most were closed off season) restaurants. If we were staying longer the little kitchen would have come in handy too. I too suggest an extra nightstand or a folding table since the two beds are oddly placed, and there’s no where to set a glass etc. while in bed. I would stay at the Mountain View again.

We stayed in Room 4, which sleeps four in two twins and a set of bunk beds. The room was not huge, but big enough for us with a well equipped kitchenette. The furniture is certainly not new, but everything was clean and well maintained. The walls and ceiling looked like fairly new wood paneling -- very nicely done. The bathroom had clean towels stacked neatly on a shelf AND towel racks for wet towels (why don't all hotels include towel racks?!). A short walk from the main motel is a large, beautifully re-modeled game and TV room which includes a ski tuning table with vices -- a great feature for ski racers. The motel is just 10 minutes from Sugarloaf and minutes from several dining options.

We had a very nice time at the Mountain View Motel, staying in a cozy two bedroom unit that includes kitchen and living room areas. Everything was as advertised, the unit was clean and the beds were comfortable. This is one of the few places in the area that take pets and it is very reasonably priced. The owner is very friendly and allowed us a late checkout which was extremely helpful. Sugarloaf is about a 10 minute drive and there are various restaurants in the area, including the excellent Coplin Dinner House about a mile from Mountain View. I highly recommend staying at the Mountain View Motel.
