Let me put it this way: I cannot wait to go back and I wish I had stayed longer. Susi and Mike have got the magic. Stellar hosts. They know the area extremely well and seem to read their guests minds on how to best steer them to enjoy it to the fullest. Very comfortable room, common areas, killer views,... More

This 5* B&B will make you feel at home and impress you in every way -- it is truly a home away from home-- in an unbeatable on the water setting complete with deer in the yard. We stayed four days at the Birches. A great hospitality, excellent breakfast, very comfortable room with an outstanding view, and above all the knowledge of the area and great ideas every morning on where to go and what to see. Susi is a great host and gave us a feeling of being with a family.

If you are like Oscar Wilde, who once said "I am not hard to please, I am always satisfied with the best," you have come to the right place and will love Susi Homer's fantastic B&B, The Birches in SW Harbor. This lovely B&B will charm you in every way -- it is warm, welcoming, comfortable -- in an exquisite... More

I was in Maine, specifically Acadia National Park, to kick off my two year endeavor called the National Parks Marathon Project. I will be running a marathon in all 59 U.S. National Parks. My very good friends were sponsoring me by paying for my hotel for the weekend and chose The Birches B&B for our visit. Regardless of your reason... More

We love the breakfast, the rooms, the owners, and the view of the water. Beautiful gardens also. Southwest Harbor is quiet with a sweet downtown. The first photo was taken from the window of the house. The next shows the rocky coast. The third is a view from the pier in Bar Harbor.

Suzy was an amazing host. Every meal was exquisite in flavor and presentation. Ask for the Norwegian Breakfast. Suzy is very knowledgeable about the local things to do and places to see, she will not lead you astray! This was my first BnB experience and it is one that I will not forget.

When planning a trip, I always try to find lodging that is "right" for us, but of course we don't know for certain until we arrive at the destination. This time, however, it wasn't simply right, it was perfect. The location of the Birches is amazing - waterfront family compound on a quiet street, away from the hustle and bustle... More

My husband and I believe travel with our family should be about more than simply reaching a destination- the experience of traveling should weave and create a tapestry of memories that are permanently woven into your heart, touched by the people who's path you crossed along the way. From the moment we arrived at The Birches we knew this was... More
