Woke to lobster boats heading out of harbor to witness a magical sunrise - yes, the rooms are that close to the water. Comfy inn on the water with ample adirondack chairs to see the sunset reflecting on Cadillac Mountain and MDI. Nice quiet side alternative to the Bar Harbor. Second floor rooms are up steep stairs so that's the... More

This place is a dump. The photos of the rooms were either not the same place or changed in some way. Our room is an addition, converted from a mobile home The bathroom is small, unfinished and does not even afford privacy from the outside. The furniture is old, mismatched and cheap. The setting is quiet and pretty.

The Moorings Inn is lovely, and a great point from which to enjoy Acadia National Park and Mount Desert Island. The Inn is located in a quiet neighborhood, overlooking the harbor. Our room, Theoline, was one of the smaller rooms on the first floor, perfect for our needs. The huge picture window overlooked the harbor and provided a wonderful breeze... More

We stayed in their third story suite. The view from there of Southwest Harbor, Somes Sound and Acadia National Park was breathtaking. The suite was comfortable with two bedrooms, a bath, and a kitchen-living room-dining room, and a large front deck overlooking the view. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen well-supplied with utensils, dishes, and pots and pans. We didn't... More

I love this place. I stayed here as a little girl way back when, and had the opportunity to return this summer. I absolutely love the location and love the inn. We stayed in one of the cottages. It was perfect for the 2 of us. They have several cottage options. The cottages all have either full kitchens or kitchenettes.... More

Quaint and comfortable. Love being near the harbor watching boats come and go. Our room was very comfortable and had a small kitchen that was perfect for prepping a few meals to save money through the week. There are many Acadia National Park trails located within a few miles of the Inn. Next door is a ship yard servicing boats... More

Online reservations are easy and straightforward, the folks working at Moorings are super-friendly and knowledgeable, the small breakfast setup is great and housekeeping is perfect! We love the Dauntless accommodation with its scenic view of the harbor, roominess, balcony and charming bath fixtures! The drive into town from the Inn is a short hop, access to less-traveled hikes is easy... More

We stayed here in early August, and the views, location and relaxed atmosphere were ideal. You can pay much more and get fancier furnishings, but no place has better views of the harbor or a friendlier staff. We stayed in the Top Deck unit. Furniture and amenities are a bit shabby and worn, but that adds to the relaxation factor.... More

The moorings inn sits on the most beautiful oceanfront grounds and the rooms have views that can't be beat! The room we stayed in was an end unit with total views of SouthWest Harbor and also had sliding glass doors that opened up to the deck with our own table and chairs. You can't get any more oceanfront than this.... More

We found the Moorings by accident in 2016 on an impromptu trip to Mt. Desert Island and were hooked from the first night. It's a clean, comfortable spot with a lot of authentic charm and a ton of history. The setting and view of the harbor, mountains and incredible Somes Sound are like a giant magnet that pull us back... More
