We just spent 5 nights at the inn and leave quite content after having had a wonderful experience. Arlo could not have been more helpful, thoughtful, or gracious. He knows the area like the palm of his hand and is a treasure for suggestions. Breakfast every morning was superb, homemade, nutritious, healthy, and yummy. Delicious crepes, French toast, hearty bagels, morning fresh brioche, fresh fruit, etc. The inn has a lovely parlor area, dining-room and beautiful front porch where we had breakfast every morning or sat later in the evening enjoying a cup of tea or a glass of wine overlooking a well-kept front yard and quiet street. Our room was spotless and was well-furnished. In the days of Covid-19, we were all asked to wear masks in the common areas and everyone working at the inn wore masks at all times. Southwest Harbor is on the quiet side of Mt. Desert Island, no crowds, great sea views, easy access to the islands, very nice restaurants, and has the feel of a real town. Can't wait to return.…
I had a short stay at the Harbor Cottage Inn, but I wish it was longer! Such a beautiful building and excellent location right by the water, and the room was very charming and clean. Susan and the staff were extremely helpful and offered great service and local advice, and the included breakfast was spectacular. For a smaller inn, we were pleasantly surprised there was wine and alcohol available for those that want it. I won't definitely come back here as our stay was very memorable, thank you!
We spent four nights at the Harbour Cottage Inn to celebrate our engagement. The Inn is incredibly quaint and well-appointed. Arlo and Yvonne are the best inn keepers you could ask for -- knowledgable about Southwest harbor and the best ways to enjoy the national park. They're also extremely talented in the kitchen -- this will no doubt be one of the best breakfasts you've ever been served. We're grateful to have met them and spent four fantastic days at the inn.
We loved staying here! The room and bed were both Comfy. The shower was clean and had good water pressure. The ownership/service was extremely welcoming. Very clean and pleasant. We also loved the breakfast. It was fantastic!
GREAT stay. Both the owners (Sharon and her husband) and the Innkeeper (Arlo) were very hospitable and had great recommendations for local lesser-known hikes and restaurants as we wanted to avoid the crowds. Breakfast was delicious always had fresh fruit, OJ, coffee and tea and two options for breakfast: a savory or sweet option. Room was air conditioned and comfortable. The inn is about 30 minutes from Downtown Bar Harbor but walkable to Southwest Harbor where we bought wine and the most amazing cheese and Sailed with Sail Acadia in SW Harbor. the Inn has a covered porch and a bike rack for our bikes. Arlo showed us on a map how to get everywhere we wanted to and pointed out some great spots. Will definitely be back!
