This is a great place to stay. Hosts Dora & Daniel were excellent - Dora was front of house in the mornings and dispensed invaluable information about cruises around the bay, walks and places to go that avoided the crush of people (especially if cruise ships were arriving). The Inn has a lovely homely feel and a great roaring fire to sit in front of listening to music. Breakfast was superb, with Daniel displaying an array of his culinary skills. Highly recommended and if we get the chance to go back to Acadia then this will be our first choice for accommodation. Thanks you once again Daniel & Dora (and we hope you enjoyed your birthday Dora).
The inn is well located and within walking distance of restaurants and shops. The accommodations and breakfasts were outstanding. Dora and Daniel are very gracious and wonderful hosts that make staying at the Inn a great experience.
The Inn is beautiful and very well maintained. Dora and Daniel, the innkeepers are just the best! Very pleasant and helpful, and just incredible breakfasts. They are very good with advice, or just to chat with. We feel like it is home!
We spent 5 nights at the Inn & It was the perfect home base for our Acadia adventures. Dora and Daniel are excellent Inn keepers and are super welcoming! We loved Daniel’s delish two course breakfasts, the charming living room/fireplace, and the daily cookies and warm drinks. Today’s breakfast was an apple en croute and an AWESOME egg dish with Gruyere. One day was pumpkin waffles - they were so good too. Great coffee and fresh squeezed OJ. Daniel makes everything from scratch, and it shows. Dora makes everyone feel loved :). She spent tons of time giving us info about hikes, restaurants, and all sorts of stuff! There were too many things we loved about our stay to list them all! A+++ attention to detail. We will be back.
The Inn at Southwest is ideally located to access Acadia National Park. Several carriage roads and hiking trails are a short drive a way. The Jordan Pond area is about a 20 min drive. The rooms were very comfortable but the big draw was the delicious breakfasts and Sandy, the owner. She was serving as the hostess/cook while her regular staff was out of town. She was incredibly friendly and had many helpful suggestions to enjoy the area. Breakfasts were delicious and filling and included home made waffles, a frittata and scrambled eggs with cheese and sweet corn. For the meat lovers, sausage and bacon were also served on the side. Fresh chocolate chip cookies and brownies were available in the afternoon. Southwest Harbor is on the "quiet" side of Acadia which basically means no tour buses or cruise ships. There were 2-3 ships in Bar Harbor per day during our stay and the town was loaded with people. Tour buses were parked everywhere. It was wonderful to enjoy the quiet of the inn after a day or hiking or biking.…
