We really enjoyed our stay on the quiet side of the island. We stayed in the efficiency cabin and it was very clean and had great views of the harbor. The bed was comfortable, the kitchen is well stocked with dishes, utensils and pans. The large refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker were great to have available as many restaurants were closed for the season or closed due to staffing issues. The TV was set on a low stand which made viewing tough no matter where you were in the room but TV was the least important thing in a beautiful area like this. The front desk was very friendly and helpful and reminded us that if we needed anything to let them know. They also had coffee available each morning if you didn't want to make your own. Overall this was a very affordable, clean and convenient way to stay on the island and enjoy some down time with our pup.

Stayed in Room 50, first floor of water facing motel. This room has new ramp access to building
Room had 2 beds ,closet, mini fridge. Fairly large bathroom with fiberglas shower stall, The sliding glass door out to deck overlooking water is only source of fresh air. There are two windows in bathroom. We luckily arrived on an overcast rainy day when temperatures had dropped. The ceiling fan only runs when overhead lights are on so no air movement when sleeping. Coffee only in am. This is a pleasant more economical choice for families. We enjoyed short trip to The Claremont Hotel for after dinner drinks and desert. Only downside for me was NO AIR CONDITIONING although there is a floor air fan in room.

This hotel on the harbor is a fantastic location for your visit to Acadia. Close to the park and to the bustling Bar Harbor area, you won't have any problem seeing whatever parts of MDI you want to explore further. You can walk to several good restaurants and stores, although since we were late in the season, hours were somewhat limited. We stayed in one of the "cottage" rooms which was fine. My family are not picky at all but we did have privacy concerns. Not having a blind/curtains that fully cover the windows, when the rooms are arranged in the manner of a traditional motor inn, is unacceptable. You cannot change clothes or do anything else in the rooms that requires privacy unless you go in the bathroom. We had two rooms and both had the same issue. Bind on the door was installed incorrectly and missing slats. Windows had a combo of blinds and curtains that left large gaps that allowed anyone walking by to get a clear view of the room. It's very nice to have a small patio and be able to see the harbor.

Stayed in room 202 and the view was perfect. We loved the separate bed area with an extra-large living room. It’s very walkable to the stores and restaurants in South Harbor while being convenient to many trails on the Quietside and Bar Harbor side.

There is not a microwave or Keurig/hot water dispenser in the room, but there is one in the check-in office that anyone can use.

The main building can be a bit loud in the morning as everyone is rising and getting an early start to the day. I would suggest bringing ear plugs or your own noise machine if you’re a light sleeper.

Waterfront property is clean, comfortable with easy access to the quiet side of MDI and Acadia hiking trails, and walkable to sweet SW Harbor. Our labs love the green lawn for romping and sniffing - we love the view and ease of staying there. Not fancy (yay!) but high value for sure.

We stayed in Efficiency 5 and 12. Loved our stay here. Everything was very clean and just what we were looking for. The value cannot be beat.

We stayed here and drove to Acadia a few times, into Ellsworth for Tidal Falls, and into Bar Harbor twice. It was a very nice, easy drive.

There is a small grocery on the edge of town that has everything you need, and a laundry facility is right next to the grocery. The laundry opens at 6am.

Our first night, we walked up to Next Level Sports and had a nice dinner. It was not busy at all, and the staff was incredibly friendly. I highly recommend popping in for a bit.

My only "complaint" is that staff members sit in their cars and smoke right next to guest vehicles. I'm not sure why they choose to sit in their cars, which are parked right next to guest vehicles, to smoke. If room or car windows are left open, the cigarette smell gets into the space.

If you are looking for a reasonably priced base of operations while touring Bar Harbor and Acadia, the Harbor View is a nice little place that gives great value for the price. The hotel is tucked back off the main street in a quiet area overlooking the harbor, with plenty of Adirondack chairs to enjoy the view if you don't have one from your room. Nothing fancy here, but very clean and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful.

We decided on a last minute trip to Acadia and were lucky to find a cabin available at Harborview. The property is perfectly located and lovingly maintained! Our cabin #19 was right on the water with a nice deck with table and chairs to enjoy the view. The cabin itself was spotless inside, looked brand new and everything inside was just perfect. We could walk easily into town for meals which is a plus…or of course cook in the small kitchen if you wanted eat in. A wonderful property and we are happy to have found it available on out last minute venture to the area!

I came for work, but staying here certainly made it feel like a vacation. The manager was extremely accommodating and communicative prior to my arrival. Waking up early to the harbor view is a must! Even on my days off I made it a point to get out on the porch to enjoy the sunrise, and natural ambiance. VERY quiet area during my stay, I didn’t even know people were around. I will definitely be back for a true vacation, and am very interested to try out one of the many cottages, which look brand new/completely renovated!

We loved our stay at Harborview! It is an older mom 'n pop style motel that is extremely well kept and clean. Our room on the bottom floor corner had a covered porch that overlooked the water and was delightful to sit on. The beds were comfy. With the coffee and light breakfast, we had everything we needed. The people in the office were very friendly. There were good restaurants in the area. I recommend this motel to anyone in the area to visit Acadia and Bar Harbor like we were.

Answer from Sedge S
Hello Barbara, We don't expect anyone to plunge the toilet...I'm not sure the circumstances, but maybe the cleaning staff was unavailable or the front desk personnel could not leave the office. I'm certainly sorry for the inconvenience. I'm also sorry the room in the main building was not up to your standard, but I don't think you will find a quality room with a view like that, for such an affordable price anywhere else on Mount Desert Island. we are in the process of making significant upgraded , and would love for you to give us another try. Thank you for your concern. Sedge Saunders
