We stayed here for one night, arriving around midnight. We had a room in the main building. When we arrived, it was dark, but we saw deer from our deck which was pretty neat. The room furnishings and decor are older, but it was clean. We really enjoyed our view of the harbor in the morning from our deck.

We had a wonderful stay in cabin 23. Its brand new with a/c and a gorgeous view from the porch. Great location, close to restaurants, shops and Acadia national park. Very nice staff when checking in and out. Will definitely be staying here again

Waterfront property is clean, comfortable with easy access to the quiet side of MDI and Acadia hiking trails, and walkable to sweet SW Harbor. Our labs love the green lawn for romping and sniffing - we love the view and ease of staying there. Not fancy (yay!) but high value for sure.

I came for work, but staying here certainly made it feel like a vacation. The manager was extremely accommodating and communicative prior to my arrival. Waking up early to the harbor view is a must! Even on my days off I made it a point to get out on the porch to enjoy the sunrise, and natural ambiance. VERY quiet area during my stay, I didn’t even know people were around. I will definitely be back for a true vacation, and am very interested to try out one of the many cottages, which look brand new/completely renovated!

We really enjoyed our stay on the quiet side of the island. We stayed in the efficiency cabin and it was very clean and had great views of the harbor. The bed was comfortable, the kitchen is well stocked with dishes, utensils and pans. The large refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker were great to have available as many restaurants were closed for the season or closed due to staffing issues. The TV was set on a low stand which made viewing tough no matter where you were in the room but TV was the least important thing in a beautiful area like this. The front desk was very friendly and helpful and reminded us that if we needed anything to let them know. They also had coffee available each morning if you didn't want to make your own. Overall this was a very affordable, clean and convenient way to stay on the island and enjoy some down time with our pup.

This hotel on the harbor is a fantastic location for your visit to Acadia. Close to the park and to the bustling Bar Harbor area, you won't have any problem seeing whatever parts of MDI you want to explore further. You can walk to several good restaurants and stores, although since we were late in the season, hours were somewhat limited. We stayed in one of the "cottage" rooms which was fine. My family are not picky at all but we did have privacy concerns. Not having a blind/curtains that fully cover the windows, when the rooms are arranged in the manner of a traditional motor inn, is unacceptable. You cannot change clothes or do anything else in the rooms that requires privacy unless you go in the bathroom. We had two rooms and both had the same issue. Bind on the door was installed incorrectly and missing slats. Windows had a combo of blinds and curtains that left large gaps that allowed anyone walking by to get a clear view of the room. It's very nice to have a small patio and be able to see the harbor.

If you aren’t interested in modern amenities, you’ll be happy with this cottage. Right near the water, within walking distance of restaurants. Clean but smelled musty. Only 3 bed pillows, separate water spouts in bathroom sink, TV set up on very low table (couldn’t see it from bed), no outlet on one side of bed, TINY shower, coffee maker but no coffee. Window screens sitting on floor inside. Grouchy front desk person when we checked in but very pleasant gentleman when we checked out. We would not stay there again.

Again, with our 2nd stay in Maine this trip we experienced borderline unfriendly front desk workers. I have been coming to Maine for 50 years, never have I met so many unhappy people. After being closed up for over a year one would think these ppl would welcome us back with open arms. Very disappointed in lack of complimentary breakfast as advertised. When asked about it she said it was due to covid; but, not sure why they couldn't do something like a grab bag? Give out a piece of fruit and a granola bar - TRY to do something!? They were still offering coffee so not sure what their reasoning was? (other than to save money) They had brewed coffee in lobby area and in main building there was a fancy Keurig with hot and cold water. Thankfully, the first morning the friendly lady who "usually" does the laundry was there and helping us (other guests too) because it is not self evident of how to use it or that there is the option to make coffee! Our room had interior doors (most don't) but unfortunately it was like a bedroom door. No deadbolt or safety chain lock only a small door knob lock!?! SCARY! Perhaps I dare say, not safe for the single person or in my case mom traveling w/ son alone! I wedged a chair up under door knob but it was worrisome. Also, the sliding doors did not lock - this is why my rating is a Poor vs. Average. It's simply lacks safety features. The balcony is semi-shared w/ your neighbor so you can't leave your slider open to get fresh air which is desperately needed when sun comes up and the room gets very warm! There is NO AC. There is a one fan for the large semi divided room we had. We liked the size of the room and there is a glass partition that closes. The furniture is quite old but fine. The bed was tired and probably could be replaces sooner v. later but I slept fine until the room got heated up w/ the early sun coming in... The bedding and linens could be replaced as they are quite worn. We had a nice size fridge in the room. The toilet needed some attention as the handle was ready to fall off. The sink was outside of the bathroom which was helpful. Location was convenient as you could walk to town and were right on the water. We enjoyed the harbor at low tide - there are steps to go down. We were on 2nd floor and we could hear the ppl walking on the floor above us - every morning at 7 AM... I would likely pick another location to stay. Southwest really had some sad people overall - not happy to be back open I guess.

This hotel is a no frills hotel at a reasonable price. The rooms are clean, but quite old. The furniture is from an early age. There is no decoration. There is only soap in the bathrooms, so bring your own products. The bed was very hard. The setting was beautiful.

Hello, thank you for taking the time to review the Harbor View Motel. Yes, we do have a good staff and that's one of the reasons many people come back time and time again. It is an older property, but we are in the process of updating our rooms and cottages. I'm not sure what room you stayed in, but we have a variety of rooms...some more higher end than others. We are not a chain so our rooms vary, and I think we have something for just about everyone. Thanks again for staying and reviewing the Harbor View Motel and we hope you will come back and see some of the upgrades during the next couple years. Sedge Saunders

Stayed here recently. The beds leave a little to be desired (old spring style mattress), but clean, and worth the price. As others have said, it is an older property, but you can tell the owners keep up with maintenance. This is in a great location, and i would stay here in the future. Convenient walking distance to the Upper Deck and what i would consider "downtown" restaurants (Dry Dock Inn and quietside cafe). It is obviously tourist, season so more traffic than usual but not bad. The picture I uploaded is not the best, but the others posted here capture the area well.

Hello, Thanks for taking the time to review your stay at the Harbor View Motel and Cottages. Your description was spot on, especially the description of walking into town and experiencing all the excellent restaurants. Of course our ocean view isn't bad either. We are an older motel as you stated, but we are in the process of updating all our rooms and have already made significant progress. I hope you will come back next year and try a cottage or efficiency if so desired. Thanks again for your review. Sedge Saunders
