Lunch and Dinner at the Boathouse were very nice and reasonably priced, and seemed very popular. Hotel breakfast is okay, part of the hotel fees if you stay in the Hotel, but not if you stay in one of the on site houses.

Went on a girls' getaway to Bar Harbor. Stayed here 3 nights. Great location, was easy to get to the national park and other tourist sites. Within walking distance to a delicious lobster shack (which we ate at more than once...no shame!). Rooms were not fancy, but clean, which is all you need. Great view from the back porch.

This was our third stay at the Claremont but I don't think we will go back. The rooms were nice and the grounds and location can't be beat. However, there was a notable surliness from some of the staff (the bartender at the dockside bar (Dave?) and the middle-aged guy driving around in the golf cart, to be specific.) We weren't asking for special treatment, but when paying upwards of $300 per night, it's nice to be treated respectfully, at least. The onsite restaurant in the hotel no longer serves dinner, which we knew in advance, but they couldn't seem to get it together for breakfast either. We were told to come back later and a chef showed up around 9am. It's a lovely place, but some bad attitudes make us want to look for other options next year.

We visited the last open week of their season. We were in a cabin that had 3 units, 2 down and one up with a large communal living space. The couple upstairs only ventured down once and we had the fireplace to ourselves each evening...lovely. Our room was large and comfortable with an updated bathroom. We played croquet out on one of the two courts (?), as we had years before. The bar at the shore, sadly, was no longer open. The views are stunning. The main house is looking tired and worn and the breakfast buffet was tasty but service was marginal. We like being on the quiet side of the area and it was no problem to drive to hiking.

Our recent visit to Maine started at The Claremont. We stayed in a 2 bedroom rustic unit up in the woods with water views. It was very "old school" - no AC, no TV. The rooms were knotted wood walls and the beds very comfortable. Location was great. 30 minute fireworks show in the harbor was a 2 minute walk away. Views off the hotel's back porch so relaxing. Kids loved the croquet lawns. Our only negative moment was with the bartender the first night. Apparently he never took a sales or marketing class. My wife ordered a Chardonnay and he poured it from a bottle that was close to empty, which is fine - But, right as the bottle was at it's final drizzle he pulled it back (maybe a half ounce left). I said, "why don't you just finish the bottle", and he said, "Sorry, we serve a 5 ounce pour at the Claremont". Hilarious. What a clown. The next 4 days we didn't spend another nickel on drinks. We bought wine at the store and kept it in our cottage.
