This is a charming older hotel which has been updated over the years yet retains a lot of it's original style and is fitted with the older style of furnishings consistent with the era in which it was built. The carpeting and wallpaper are older, many of the rooms only have shared baths. The rooms are small but comfortable; I had... More

We were in the area visiting friends along with three other couples and we all choose to stay here. It was a very good experience for all of us. There was live music on the patio bar at 5:00 and later we all went in the Inn to eat. The staff were all very pleasant and the food good. I... More

The lobster stuffed haddock is always so good. I think I had it three times during our stay. Service was a bit slow, being the beginning of the season. That would be my only complaint. Breakfast is always solid too! It's probably best to make reservations on weekend evenings, especially in high season.

This place is easy to reach just two blocks from a beautiful beach and the restaurant is wonderful. They feature a piano bar. An out side deck for additional dining. I like air conditioning so I usually pick the inside tables. The food is cooked to order and its always terrific. Most of the people at the bar in the... More

We lodged at the Higgins Beach Inn for 3 nights to attend a wedding celebration of a friend. Our room on the top floor (my wife commented "I've seen prison cells better appointed") overlooked the rear parking lot, which wasn't too disturbing, but upon opening up the curtains we noticed the postage-sized bedroom window was very close to one of... Looking for a weekend getaway to the Portland area, we decided on the Higgins Beach Inn. Let me start we got there about 10 pm on a Friday night we were handed our room key and sent on our way, we got to our room 3rd floor and realized we did not get the pass word for the wifi. I... More

The very small room was immaculate and cheery but SMALL! No TV and sink in the bedroom. Staff very good. We did not have anything from restaurant. We had rented a house across the street 40 years ago and were on a nostalgic visit. Were not disappointed.

We stayed one night in August here during our 8 day trip in Maine. We are regulars to Maine and used to live there so I am familiar with Higgins. I honestly forgot there was even an Inn here! However, we are sure glad we remembered and tried it out! This is not like the Inn By the Sea of... More

I stayed there for a wedding and was hugely disappointed. We had arranged to get into a room early, but were unable to do so. When we later complained, the owner said he would have been happy to get us another room. He offered no such thing even after the importance of getting into a room prior to the wedding... More

Just what we needed as a base to explore the area. If you are looking for nightlife this may not be for you. But the Inn owner was very accommodating. Our flight was delayed so we got in late the first night. Coffee and Blueberry muffins in the morning were awesome.
