Food at Breakfast was excellent and was included in the room price. Service was spotty as they had just opened for the season and were ironing things out. Room was quaint. Location was good. Picked hotel as it looked like a typical coastal beach hotel. Hotel was clean and well kept. There was noise from other rooms but wasn’t a problem for sleeping.
From the first query phone call to the last goodbye from the staff, this inn is everything you could possibly want for a respite in seaside Maine located only one block from the beach. James and Jessica, two young members of the front desk team, are totally accommodating and genuinely KIND. Abby, Emma, and Ellie were more of the same as manager and wait staff respectively at the Shade, the inn’s busy restaurant, which offered up some delicious and varied breakfasts. They also serve dinner on the lovely screened-in back porch which was quite popular. My bright and sunny room on the third floor had everything I needed and more for my nearly week long stay. Quiet AC and great lighting for reading in bed. I also loved the vintage poster art touches! The inn was recently renovated and they’ve surely chosen well. Done in a tasteful yet simple modern rustic design. It’s lovely, just lovely. Wrote a few letters on the wide front porch over a second cup of coffee in the afternoon which was fresh and readily available in the lobby. And I do believe that I have finally found my favorite place to stay in Maine and will definitely be returning. Ahhhh, can’t wait.…
We stayed at this property and would not rebook. It is not on beach. Room we stayed in was horrible and bathroom dirty. Could not sleep because of air conditioning unit was loud. Food terrible and I could go on and on.
From the beginning, we had a great time at the Inn. The staff was wonderful and very inviting. The room was quaint...an old Inn, complete refurbished. The rooms were very clean, the pillows/bed were comfortable. Both breakfasts were delicious -- I loved the cinnamon french toast so much that I had to order it 2 days in a row! The breakfast was included in our stay. The Inn is only two blocks from the beach. We really enjoyed our stay.
My wife and I were very disappointed with the overall Inn. Our room was clean and bright. However, it was located next to the restaurant and fried food smell was in our room most of the two nights and the noisy restaurant was a real bother, when we tried to sleep after a full day of Fall foliage biking. We left our door knob slip outside of our room along with our towels in early morning and they were still there at 5:00 PM upon our return. In addition, not one staff person wore a face mask inside the Inn with all of the guest arriving outside of the community. We spent a week in Camden and Monhegan Island Inns and their staff took mask wearing and Covid measures very seriously. Not at the Higgins Beach Inn. Don't waste your money and health safety here. The owners and management need to wake up!!…
My husband and I stayed here at the end of a trip down the coastline. We had planned to stay for 3 nights, but personal issues made us cut our stay to one night, and we were glad we didn't have to stay for the other nights. First, let me say that the staff was very friendly, the room was very clean and the bed and pillows were comfortable. The bathroom was nice and roomy. Breakfast was very good, and the coffee was good. However, this is an old building with 3 floors. The floors and steps creak horribly, so you can hear everyone's footsteps. The room is small, and there is not a comfortable chair to sit in. The walls were dark. It was just a depressing room. During our trip travelling through Maine, we stayed in 5 different places. This place was the most expensive and the smallest . Just not worth the money. …
A bit late in writing my review - but I had the most wonderful stay here. I went on Labor Day and so it was technically the off season and room was very reasonably priced. I had an adorable room that looked right over the front of the inn. Bed was comfortable, bathroom was enormous, and the room was decorated wonderfully with two seats in front of the bay windows. Breakfast was delicious and came with the room. The only thing I thought was odd is that there were no phones in the rooms, so there wasn’t an easy way to get in touch with the front desk. There also isn’t an elevator, which wasn’t a problem at all for me but something for others to keep in mind. Easy parking in back of inn and very quick walk to the beach. Can’t recommend this place enough and can’t wait to go back! Made me feel very welcome on my first solo vacation!…
Very enjoyable stay. Everyone who works here seems to really want to accommodate you. It’s a personal touch you don’t often find these days. Breakfast is outstanding. We missed the dining experience but we hope to return. A 5 minute walk to the beach is a special treat.
Just lovely. Historic home-style establishment. The staff is especially impressive and knowledgeable, Walk to the beach, sit on the front porch, eat in the fabulous restaurant, Shades. Great menu, service, gluten free foods. Sunday evening chef - superb.
We enjoyed our stay at The Higgins Beach Inn just a block from the beach. We found it very clean and welcoming. It has the feel of New England charm stepping back into the 1960's. Breakfast is provided and made to order. Omelets were great!
