Saco Motel Saco A great "Non-Chain" hotel 814498673 We always have a little extra concern when we stay in a "Non Chain" hotel. Not that chain (Choice, Wyndam, etc.) have always met reasonable expectations. However, with a "Mom and Pop" ownership you miss out on having the corporate entity available to voice your concerns at if the property is not as presented. That being said, Saco Motel was a the least what we expected. This motel was perfect for us to stay overnight on the way to Acadia, both on the way up and on the way back. I wanted to visit the Old Orchard Beach of my youth and share it with my wife, The focus of this early Fall trip was hiking, as opposed to sunning. Lets face it, all hotels in touristy areas are priced at more than what I want to pay. Compared to other options, Saco Motel worked well for us.…
I needed a local place to stay last minute for one night during a stressful move. I would not normally choose a 2.5 star property but the price was right and it was highly rated for cleanliness so I booked it and was so happy I did! Despite its location on a busy road my room was quiet. Neighboring rooms were occupied but I didn't hear a thing. The Saco Motel is not fancy but had everything I needed to be comfortable. The furniture is a bit dated and it could use new carpets but bathrooms have clearly been recently updated and the room was very clean, which is way more important to me than fancy! It took a few minutes to get hot water in the shower but once it warmed up it stayed hot and water pressure was EXCELLENT! The room had a fridge and coffee station, air conditioner cooled things off quickly, and my bed was comfortable. The motel is attractive outside, grounds are clean, and while I did not use the pool it looked clean and inviting. The young lady staffing the front desk both days was friendly and courteous. Check in/out was easy, and most importantly I was able to extend my check out time for no extra charge which was a HUGE help since I needed to leave some of my things in my room to make space in my car to move a last load out of my apartment. I would not hesitate to stay here again!…
Was not sure about staying in a motel, but we did. The room is older looking, but not bad. Despite being on a major road, our room was nice and quiet. Luckily I decided to iron my clothes at night. I was surprised there was no iron. We did get one to use in the office. Unfortunately the next morning I discovered there was no hair dryer. The office was closed and did not open before we left. We didn’t leave real early. In fact most of the parking lot had cleared out. Make sure you check the amenities when you check in.
This motel is in need of some upgrades; however, it was very clean, extremely quiet and the front desk was extremely helpful with maps and dinner recommendations. The new owners have a winner on their hands.
I have to admit that a motel rated at 2.5 stars with reviews of 8.2 caught my attention. But I kept coming back to it. I will admit that there is a time and place for the chain hotels with their sameness. But that was not what we wanted for this weekend. I had noted on one review that there was an issue with a late arrival. I decided to cakk first and depending on the response, make the reservation. I called and told them that we would most likely arrive after midnight. I was told that was not a problem and was told that on our travel day they would contact us to let us know where to find the key. On out travel day I called in the morning to inquire about the key and was told where to find it. I was good to go. That evening as we were enroute we received a followup call to confirm that we were all set for our late arrival. When we arrived the keys were where they were supposed to be. We let ourselves in and found a very nice room including, coffee maker, refrigerator and microwave (not noted on their website). They also have coffe and pastries outside the office. The beds are very comfortable, and obviously quite new. The bath, while dated is meticulously clean. The staff is very nice and helpful. Remember this is an older motel and the rooms are sized accordingly. I told our son, who lives in Saco to recommend the Saco Motel to people that come to visit him. It is a great value and we felt right at home. So, is a 2.5 star motel with a review rating of 8.2 worth it? Definitely!!!!! It should be rated higher than 2.5 stars. The reviews will take care of themselves. We will be returning when we come to visit our son and his girlfriend. …
I waited too long before reserving so since ratings seemed ok, thought the Saco Motel would be ok and it was just ok....the AC was barely sufficient, the shower was super small and I am not a large person. Since service for the rooms started early, we waived the service and were told after we ran out of Kleenex that they were out as well. The place is old, and definitely over priced for what you get.
I used to love this motel. I would stay twice a year. The previous owners were very friendly and kept the rooms clean while keeping the cost reasonable. They also offered a little continental breakfast. Sadly, last year the motel was sold. I decided to stay anyway, hoping that I would feel the same way about the motel as I did when the previous owners ran the place. I had two friends who booked a room as well. After we all checked in we discovered that my friends where charged $20 more for their room, even though our rooms were side by side and exactly the same. The next day there was no continental breakfast, just a small coffee pot in the room. In addition, there was no one to greet you in the morning, just a key drop box. However, I decided to give the motel another try for this weekend (A Saturday in August 2019). I was very disappointed to find that the room price increased drastically. I understand that rates are higher in the Summer, but the increase amount from when the previous people owned the motel was ridiculous. I was just about to give my credit card information when I decided to check out a few more places first. I could not find any available rooms in the area so I called the Saco Motel again the very next day to book a room. Unfortunately, I was told that I could no longer stay for one night. The new policy, which seemed to take place overnight, is a two night minimum on the weekends. The mom and pop, homey feel is gone. Very sad. I will not be back…
This is a super clean vintage very cool property-located on Main Street-Saco is quite nice We feel like we stepped back 70 years and are absolutely delighted-when we travel we try to pick hotels/lodging that match our destination Maine is lovely and old fashioned-and this motel is a great match for our trip!
Love the Saco Motel!! In between places and they have been sooo accommodating to me. Rooms are clean and comfy plus they go out of their way to make sure you love your stay. Miranda and Alicia are the best! So if looking for a nice quiet place to relax I would definitely recommend the Saco Motel.
We rolled into Saco in the late afternoon in search of a place to stay. We pulled into this old fashioned Motel, which I normally wouldn't stay at.....but everything outside looked so clean and well maintained. We checked the T.A. Reviews and they all seemed to be good so we went for it. Our room for the night was $92.65 with taxes in. Their brochure says "Specializing in affordability, cleanliness and comfort in a 1950's style motor court", and they pull it off. This is an old motel but everything is very, very well maintained and clean. Our room was comfortable and with the A/C on we didn't hear a thing all night. In the morning they have a small free breakfast available, two kinds of cereal, donuts, muffins, OJ, milk, tea and coffee. This place knows that they are old but then they do everything they can to overcome that. This place isn't the Ritz but it is great clean, safe lodging for an excellent price. So I would encourage you to give this place a try, if you don't need a place that is all modern.…
