I really like Maynard's. It's a lovely drive from Greenville to Rockville; the resort is located on the Moose River, off Moosehead Lake. The menu has a few appetizer items and two evening selections, which change each night of the week, then repeat. The food is wholesome and good -- not great -- and lots of it. The desserts are... We've stayed here a few times in all seasons and just love it! The rustic cabins are basic but cozy, even in the cold months. There's a woodstove and wood is provided free of charge. The owners and staff are all helpful and welcoming. The food is excellent! Don't miss the prime rib special, it's superb. Fishing, boating and hiking... More

This place is absolutely beautiful. If you want to stay at a place to show you what Maine is all about, then this is it! Between the meals and the hospitality you'll think you've stepped into paradise. The cabins are quaint and rustic, and just a walk through the lodge will bring you back in time. The most relaxing and... More

The stay was wonderful. We went to climb Mount Kineo and we're certainly well fed for our hike. Gail the owner was helpful. The food was over the top no one in our party was hungry. The lunch they packed for us was delicious. The cabin was rustic, clean and comfortable.

After traveling for a few hours to our destination, we came upon a big lodge surrounded by small cabins. I became very excited, hoping that one of the cabins was ours for the night! BINGO! There were no "lesser quality" cabins or "hotel style spaces" in the back. What we saw was what we got! A cozy, primitive little cabin... More

This is located right on Moose River near entrance to lake. They have boat rentals, and docks for your own boat. A little rustic, but comfortable and their restaurant serves great meals. The greatest part I liked was the friendly staff and how great they treat you. Always helpful.

Although we didn't rent a cabin here, we enjoyed our meal at Maynard's. Rustic setting and good food. We had roast pork and broiled scallops. Nice view of Moose River. There isn't much to choose from in Rockwood, but Maynard's is a fine choice. BYOB. Call ahead!

We visited Maynards Columbus Day weekend to hike leaf peep. It was the perfect family weekend, all meals were included so we could relax and enjoy the outdoors. The food was fantastic and the picnic lunches hit the spot while we were out hiking. Maynards is an old hunting camp not a Holiday Inn or chain motel, I will say... More

We stayed at Maynard's in Rockwood Maine for 3 nights in August. It is one of a host of New England resorts that was popular in the early 1900's-before the elite jetted across the pond to Europe for vacation. As a result, it has a "has-been" feel to it, but that's also part of its charm. We are two couples-boomer-hippie-low... More

Maynard is an authentic Maine sporting camp, where time has not evolved so much. The full option is really good : great breakfast, lunch pack for hiking, good dinner (Bring your own wine). we had a cabin close to the main house, with a front porch over the river. Kayaking from Maynard to Moosehead lake was great. We would just... More
