Wow, where to begin! First of all, we always love to stay in locally owned hotels and this one did not disappoint. Alex and his wife Siobhan have owned the hotel for forever and are able to give the best recommendations for what to do see and eat in the area. Check in was quick, easy and filled with more than a few funny Irish anecdotes. The rooms were bright and clean, but honestly we spent little time in there because we were out at the beautiful pool, enjoying the private beach access, or dining at one of the many recommended restaurants. We truly cannot say enough good things about this place, we really did feel like family. Already planning our next trip back!
I have now stayed at the Claddagh Motel on three different occasions, and it is truly a place that keeps bringing me back. This place is very family friendly, quiet, and comfortable. Alex and Siobhan really do take care of everything you need, and make you feel right at home. I love the location in scenic mid-coast Maine, which is incredible during the summer. One of my favorite things about the Claddagh is the private beach area, and its proximity to the water. I cannot wait till I get the opportunity to return!
We enjoyed our two nights there. Well-located 2 miles outside of Rockport, away from all the hustle and bustle, but conveniently close to visit, dine, or enjoy the town's bayside. The rooms, while small, were well-appointed and comfortable. The simple continental breakfast provided (coffee, tea, juices, fruit, cereal, muffins and pastries) was too sweet for our tastes, but enough to get us going on our day.
This was a last minute find on our northeast coastal trip. Alex and Siobhan were so nice and great hosts. The check in was simple and we went to our rooms. We were awestruck when we saw the gorgeous room decor. Not your run of the mill boring room. Each room is uniquely decorated to a T. The bathroom was pristine. Everything sparkled. The room had a mini fridge and 2 wing chairs. There was a full-size coffee pot with coffee and fixings. The morning continental breakfast was basic, but more than I expected. Toaster for breads. Several cold cereals. Juice. Coffee. Tea. Boiled eggs. Yogurt. Fresh fruit. Alex took the time to chat and point is to several points of interest in the area. Take the time to look at all of the Irish items in the office. The ocean is accessible but not convenient. This was not an issue at all; however if this motel were waterfront, I would have been over the top excited. And it would probably have cost 2-3 times as much. We loved our one night here. If we are ever back in this area, we will definitely stop and stay longer.…
We stopped here on our motorcycle ride up the coast, and wow were we lucky! What a great stay, from a very warm and friendly owner to the well appointed rooms, it was a perfect example of a wonderful small motel whose owners take meticulous care of their property. Excellent rooms for the price, with great showers, multiple tv channels, free wifi, very friendly owners (both he and his wife are from Ireland), and a wonderful continental breakfast. We couldn't have asked for a better overnight stay, thank you!
