The highlight of our stay was the superb breakfast expertly made and prepared by Joan and Ed, the uber friendly innkeepers. Conveniently located right across the Rockland Ferry terminal and right on lovely Main Street. Suite 1&2 is perfect for a family. Rooms were clean, comfortable, and had a minimalist Swedish vibe. Highly recommend!
I stayed here with friends in Suite A. It’s a pair of rooms, each having two twin beds, that share a bathroom in a small hallway within the suite. There were chairs in the rooms to use while visiting. The unique set up worked perfectly for us. There’s also an additional bathroom off the hallway (outside the suite) that we were able to use. The common rooms were decorated stylishly and comfortably. There are also unique plants on display as well as some lovely artwork. Breakfast was a highlight of our stay. It included an asparagus frittata, stuffed French toast, fresh fruit, crab fritters, quiche Lorraine, and blueberry maple muffins. As soon as I asked Ed about the ingredients, he asked what I couldn’t eat. When I told him milk products, he offered to make me a variety of items to supplement what I could eat from the buffet. I asked for scrambled eggs which were excellent, as was everything else that I and my friends had. I would definitely stay here again!…
Overall we had a nice two night stay at the Old Granite Inn. The hosts were great, the breakfast was very good with fresh fruit and ample portions. The location is excellent. An easy walk into Rockland for dinner, short drives to Camden,Camden Hills State Park and Mt. Battie, Rockport cove and peninsula, Rockland breakwater and Owl's Head Lighthouse. The room and bathroom were clean and spacious. I seem to recall we stayed in Room #6, second floor in the front on the left side as you look out to the ferry landing and Lermond Cove. It was slightly noisy in the morning as the cars lined up for the ferry but it didn't bother us. The light through the windows and the view more than made up for it. We would gladly stay there again.
This was just an excellent place to stay. It is right on the waterfront across from the ferry. There is a large porch for guests to sit on and watch the activity in the harbor. The rates in September were very reasonable for the large comfy room we had. And the breakfast was amazing. Just wonderful. I certainly recommend this b and b.
The breakfast at Old Granite Inn is absolutely wonderful. We thoroughly enjoyed it each day! The location is also fantastic; everything is walkable and there are many close restaurants and activities (eg, Wyeth Museum, Owl's Head Lighthouse), plus Camden and Rockport are close by. The rooms are OK, and the mattresses really are less than mediocre and need to be replaced. Also, bring your own lotion (the Inn supplies shampoo and soap only!)
