About 6 years ago I had the pleasure of staying at the Mercury Inn and being treated wonderfully by the owners. I returned last month for their soft opening and was not disappointed. Between my last visit and this year they did a gorgeous renovation that made everything more spacious, comfortable, and stylish. The new design also ended up making our stay very COVID safe. Everything was contactless, but the owners were around and available whenever we had questions. This was our first time visiting with a car and there was a guaranteed spot that came with our room and tons of street parking. My favorite new addition was the spacious kitchenette, which was a lovely place to enjoy the included continental breakfast, and we also made a few simple things ourselves and ordered takeout. It's not enough for a full-blown meal, but it was perfect for what we need. I can't say enough lovely things about this beautiful space and the lovely owners. We'll definitely return again once they are fully open and we won't wait as long for our next visit.

Tim and Jake have created a fantastic contemporary B&B, which combines the best of the old school with a modern sustainable focus to cater to today's guests. The rooms are very well thought out. Not large, but well appointed, and give you full control of air conditioning etc...to set up your stay the way you want. The Inn also features common areas where you can stretch your legs, sit in comfortable chairs and relax outside your room. The breakfasts are FANTASTIC and Tim does a great job of providing for travelers with food limitations. Gluten free, dairy free, soy free options as needed. Food that is both clean and appealing, with plenty of choices for everyone. We highly recommend it and plan to return. Super convenient check in/check out too.

Finding a hotel in the Portland area can be challenging. I spent a ton of time researching my options and reading reviews before feeling confident in choosing Mercury Inn. So many elements of this inn appealed to me: -locally sourced products -environmentally friendly -inside a historic home The innkeepers, Tim and Jake, are exceptional hosts. As someone who works in the hospitality industry, I appreciated every aspect of their professionalism and eagerness to accommodate their guests. From the moment I made my reservation communication was clear, concise, and efficient. It was clear that they could be as present or absent during your stay as you wished. They recommend doing a self check-in, which can sound intimidating, but absolutely is not. Every step of the process is clear and personalized. In terms of the actual inn, I found that there was a perfect balance between vintage and modern. The inn was immaculate in terms of cleanliness and design. The common areas were welcoming and comfortable. The room was a tad small, but extremely comfortable and easily accommodated my mom and me. The bathroom was stunning and large. My mom and I both loved the white noise machine provided in the room. Breakfast was impeccable. The attention to detail and thoughtfulness that has gone into this inn is clear and most definitely noticeable. I imagine the Tim and Jake designed their inn based on their experience as travelers and what they wish other inns/hotels should be. I love being able to support small local businesses like this one. When I return to the Portland area this inn will definitely be my base.

What a meticulous, bright and spotless inn. So many inns and b&b’s can be musty and just feel a bit worn in and homey in a not so good way. I felt totally relaxed at the Mercury Inn. Crisp sheets, great towels and the most thoughtful and lovely inn keepers. Everyhting you want in a small local inn but so rarely get.

I've written a review of this place in the past, but since then (2015), my husband & I have stayed here many more times. The Mercury Inn has become a really beloved place for us, and at this point we are as excited to be back at Mercury as we are for the rest of our experiences on our Portland vacations. Over the years, the Innkeepers have maintained a friendly, welcoming, and beautiful space for their guests. The design sense is absolutely on point, the private as well as common areas are all really comfortable & welcoming, the food that they make for breakfasts is TRULY out of this world (we're as excited for the Mercury Inn breakfasts as we are for eating at the fantastic restaurants in Portland), and the Innkeepers themselves are really nice & approachable, but know how to maintain a respectful distance. It's in a good location, just down the street from the main drag in Portland. The Mercury Inn has a very special place in my heart, & is an essential element to our trips to Portland.
