This is the first time we have been to Inn At Diamond Cove and it did not disappoint! The manager Manny is one of the nicest people you will meet along with his staff Greg, Derrick, Susan, Steff, and the chef. The staff there made you feel like family. The food was incredible and our room was amazing, we can't wait to go back!
During these challenging times, we were so fortunate to find this jewel. The Inn has surprisingly large and beautifully designed rooms. The common spaces are inviting. The hotel staff was so helpful and attentive, Meghan the hotel manager is the best and she has a great support staff, who are always available; they are a small but mighty crew! The island has some nice walking paths and an interesting history, water taxis and the ferry can take you on island hopping adventures. Wonderful stay, I would highly recommend! We will be back!
What an incredible disappointment! Almost $500 per night July 28 and 29 and the most poorly managed hotel ever! I decided to surprise my husband for his 60th by staying at a hotel we really couldn't afford. No place to eat breakfast or lunch except at the hotel bar which charged $18 for a long island ice tea! Breakfast was microwavable egg sandwiches which were inedible or bagels. Lunch or late night snack was limited. Soup came out cold with no utensils. No bike rentals, kayak rentals or golf cart rentals! Pool was cloudy and cold. Upon leaving resort, no one was there to check us out. Was charged over $200 on my credit card 2 weeks later with no explanation. Tried repeatedly for days to contact them by phone and email with no response. I would highly recommend avoiding anything to do with this hotel!…
We had the most wonderful stay! The staff was so welcoming and helpful. We have family on the island, but this was our first time staying at the inn (we had been before for drinks at the bar - highly recommend!). Our room was lovely and included a gorgeous balcony space overlooking the parade grounds on the island. They also have a outdoor fire pit and a private pool, which is perfect for summer days in Maine. Steps away from all our favorite parts of the island. Could not recommend enough!
There are significant management issues with the hotel. There was no confirmation of my reservation so I made numerous calls only to receive a voicemail that the Inn would return my call. The call never came. There is no email contact, no ability to talk to anyone on the phone, it’s really unbelievable. So on a wing and a prayer I went to the Inn and they did have a room for me. We checked in and the person at the desk told us to have a seat. We waited approximately 15 minutes for her to figure out how to run the credit card. She then walked the keys to us and that was it. No introduction to the Inn, just a hand off of the key. After not getting clean towels for 2 days and no housekeeping I learned that they don’t do housekeeping so I asked for towels. I never received the towels so I had to go take them from a cart I found in the hallway. I got the feeling that the employees had no idea how to run the hotel. The pool was not well maintained, in fact the hot tub was full of algae. Great Diamond Island is beautiful and it’s a unique experience, but the Inn has much to be desired and it’s extremely expensive to receive no service. I would recommend to the owners and management that a significant amount of training of the staff is required if they expect any level of success. While I’m glad I spent 5 days on Great Diamond Island, had I known the Inn service was so bad, I would have never made the investment. I spent over $2,000 for the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. I travel for my work and stay in hotels over 100 nights per year (pre-pandemic), the Inn at Diamond Cove was without question the worst service experience I’ve ever had. Please repair the pool and spa, it’s a real turn off to see it in the condition it is when it’s central to your property. Consider training your staff. Ensure clean towels are made available. Good luck!…
The island is so picturesque. I wanted the inn to be a magical experience but the customer service left much to be desired. Emails before stay went unanswered, phone calls while there about a guest or housekeeper smoking on the balcony next to us went unanswered. Our ac stopped working on night two and after two times of them trying to "reset it" it wasn't fixed. I am hoping that it was just because it was the 2nd weekend open after being shut down from COVID-19 and they are working out the kinks. The staff was very willing to drive us to and from the restaurant by golf cart when needed. We would stay again because of how beautiful the island is. If the communication improves and there were better breakfasts and lunches offered at the inn it would be a 5 star experience.
This was our third trip to this Inn and it was a mess before we even stepped on island. No confirmation email, great difficulty reaching anyone at the front desk, lack of returned phone calls, and lack of information before arrival should have been all the red flags we needed. We got here and we encountered: terrible service and food at diamonds edge, boats that hadn’t delivered food, the staff were temporary staff members, a cleaning person who appeared strung out and was caught by her manager waiting for her on floor 2, kids running rampant down hallways at 10pm, no hand soap or paper towels and while I requested- it never came so while in Portland has to purchase those items for my stay. There is a lack of communication for all the changes that have taken place. The world has changed since Covid, but when the staff are complaining how understaffed they are and basically telling you this won’t be a good experience, listen. Don’t waste your money at the Inn. The island is beautiful, but the lack of hospitality and professionalism barely qualify this as an Inn. I basically feel like I spent 800.00 for two nights to help keep whomever bought this place afloat. I understand all business has suffered during Covid, but those of us embarking on a much awaited and missed tradition, feel robbed of a positive experience. I’m deeply disappointed and appalled to see this is the standards of the new ownership.…
Stayed here for a week.. one of the best vacation in the states I have had. great place to relax and get away from it all. excellent hotel on all levels.. no cars just golf carts and bikes..you can only go on the island if you are staying at the hotel. you can hope on their own boat to head into Portland. Besides the hotel which is great.. what a better way to go out for dinner that to take a 1/2 boat ride into Portland have dinner then to catch another boat back to Diamond Island and take a 15min stroll back to the hotel..then sit by the outdoor fire pit and have a drink talking to the other guest there.. wish I could say this place is terrible so I won't have a problem booking another stay there..so go and enjoy.. I went in Sept. perfect time to go
We stayed one night at the inn and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The staff was amazing. Everyone was incredibly helpful and nice. We arrived just a few days before the inn was to close down for the season and it was like having the place to ourselves (on a Thursday night). The room was beautiful and well appointed. It was clear that a lot of planning and thought has gone into the experience one receives at this inn. We left planning the next time we would be able to return.
Fantastic, we spent the day on Cliff Island, the motherland with family who still reside there and lobster for a living. Taking a boat taxi to Diamond Cove at sunset was breathtaking. We enjoyed an amazing fresh dinner at the Inn's restaurant down by the water and enjoyed an evening stroll before retiring to the quiet that only an island can offer and very comfortable beds and accommodations. Just wonderful!
