Chose this hotel due to reviews and star ratings. The location was great, close to restaurants and bars. We didn’t see any self park areas close enough for what we were willing to walk with our luggage (we may have missed it) so we used the hotels valet. Valet brought our luggage to our room, they were fast and efficient. The gentleman that checked us in was friendly and knowledgeable. He offered several dinner and breakfast recommendations. The room was clean and nice. The only downfall was a very happy baby squealing and cooing in a room near us that woke us up. It didn’t bother us, but had the baby been crying it may have. Checkout was a breeze. Again, valet staff was great and provided some must see and eat suggestions to check out on our trip.
But, it is not a hotel with atmosphere. For the price, I had hoped for more of a 'feel' a treat rather than just a bed though it was a very comfortable bed! Also, the halls are very noisy with faux wood floors near the elevators --other guests in high heels clipped clopped all night. Ask for a room far away from the elevators where the halls are carpeted1
This was unbelievable. I will never in my life ever again stay, visit, drive thru, touch, breath, walk, talk, sneeze in Portland ever again. It was just the hotel but damn it’s the whole surrounding area. I was afraid.
The hotel is beautiful and in a perfect location for getting to all of the restaurants and bars downtown. The rooms were nicely decorated, but showed a bit of wear and tear. Our main issue was the bed; it was incredibly uncomfortable. The mattress was lumpy, the pillows were small and flat, and the comforter was simply a duvet insert placed between two flat sheets. For the price you're paying, I would expect more in a luxury hotel. I wouldn't be opposed to staying again, but would probably try one of the other hotels downtown on a return trip.
Accommodations were fine, clean room and comfortable bed. However in room dining was horrible. Over priced, under quality, poor presentation. Ordered chicken tenders. They arrived on a plain white plate, with 3 frozen cooked chicken patties with 2 sliced carrots and 2 sliced pieces of celery….what was that??? $16.00? Order 2 salads, some off the greens were frozen, again on a plain white dinner plate. The dressing for one salad did not arrive. Was told they would get it to us as soon as they could. The in room dining put a damper on our winter getaway
Beautiful room, walking distance to everything in the Old Port, loved the soaking tub in our bathroom! Valet was convenient. Breakfast on site was lovely- breakfast potatoes will bring us back! Delicious!!
Reservations was not the same as what I did online. Thankfully I had a screenshot but took me three explanations to get it corrected. Such a headache. The staff was nice however I shouldn’t have to explain myself three times to get something fixed. Luckily I had proof of what I did my reservation for so I got the package I wanted but if I didn’t have that, I was out of luck.
Beautiful hotel, great location! Check out Fore Street restaurant! Upscale, but worth it! Also, Boone’s and RiRa’s Becky’s Diner for the Best breakfast! Check out the Casco Bay Mail Boat Tour! Parking is easy, staff is warm and welcoming! We would return!
Beautiful, ran hotel right in the middle of all Portland has to offer. We will be back in the Spring for sure. My only problem was the bed, it bothered my back. Oh and that there was a big colum in the middle of our room. Weird! Room 102, in case you want to know.
The staff at this hotel are especially warm and welcoming. We felt like we were returning to the home of old friends. Delicious breakfast. Immaculate rooms. The beds were a bit more firm than is our preference, but we are an older couple, so this was likely a factor as well.
