I booked a double queen courtyard view for our august trip back in March. By doing this I paid significantly less then if I booked closer to the trip. I’m writing this review because the previous one scared me that I almost cancelled and found something else. Upon arrival there were 2 ladies at check in both masked. They were very nice gave us a map of Portland and a 2 page list of food recommendations. We had room 204 as we walked up I saw several housekeeping staff deep cleaning a room. As well as staff wiping down surfaces in common areas throughout our stay all masked. Ours was also cleaned well with plenty of towels and toilet paper. They are not servicing the rooms we were here a Sunday and Monday night. I guess I’m in the minority does not bother me. We did call for mor towels and they were in our room 5 minutes later. The room was very quiet but we were the last one down that hall far from the elevator. Yes the ac is loud but about the same as a home unit. Yes the bathroom is old but not the worst to bad they cheeped out their sister hotel in Watkins glen has beautiful bathrooms. They were a good size. The elevator situation is weird it took me forever to find stairs as they were not labeled clearly they were kind of creepy didn’t do that again. Great location and nice staff. Loved the courtyard. Bar was ok cheap drinks for a city. We ate other places so can’t comment on that. Also fridge is in the large cabinet very nice and complimentary waters are in there! I don’t know as if I would stay with my kids again more of a couples place

A lovely place to stay in central Portland
Stayed here for a few days this weekend and really liked the hotel. The common spaces and our room felt clean and new, and the staff was friendly, courteous, and helpful. The location is great: you're right near Commercial Street and the Waterfront and within several blocks' of so many of the best restaurants in the city. The in-house bar and restaurant were nice to have, too. Our bed was very comfortable and the room was well furnished overall, though the doors weren't quite sound-proof enough. And the water pressure was amazingly strong. Just one or two issues. One was price. The rates felt a bit high for what it was, but that was probably due to high demand: the city was all but overrun by tourists this summer, and it wasn't really possible to find a better deal at any other hotel. Given the location and amenities at this hotel, we could deal with it. The other was an issue with booking: we first booked online and then decided to push our booking back by some weeks. We called and changed it on the phone, but then didn't receive a confirmation email for a long time, and when we did the dates were off by a few days, and they couldn't switch to the originally requested dates at the same rate. Fortunately our schedule was flexible and we were able to accommodate the dates we got, but this was a little frustrating and might have caused more problems under more circumstances. Even in these interactions, however, everyone was friendly and as helpful as they could be throughout, and I would still recommend this hotel to others!
Dear Guest, Thank you for such a detailed and precise review. People love to read about the experiences and we really appreciate all you wrote. So happy you had some time to visit and relax a few days and enjoy the area. Please come back soon! Sincerely, The Portland Harbor Hotel ME

A classy hotel located in between Portland's Old Port and Downtown.
My wife and I stayed just one night at the Portland Harbor Hotel in a Deluxe King Room. The room was $178 (£137) for the night without breakfast and Parking was valet only. Our room was very clean, comfortable and very tastefully decorated. The hotel had a very nice feel to it throughout and was located in easy walk of the Old Port and Downtown. We would certainly recommend a stay here.
Hello Martin R, We are delighted that you enjoyed your visit and appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us. We sincerely appreciate your recommendation and hope to see you again soon. Until then, best wishes. Yours in Hospitality, Deshawn Clarke

Positives - great location, nice staff Negatives - fireplace did not work, water pressure in shower made sound as if someone was breaking your front door down, speaker system did not work We heard the hotel picked up on little cues and sought to make your stay better - that did not happen here regrettably.

You can’t go wrong by staying here. You are within walking distance to nice local eateries. The harbor is literally a couple blocks away. The decor is woodsy, traditional not sure if that’s the look they want or just dated. Be aware our room had no safe. Don’t let that hold you back book it.

I’ve stayed at this hotel many times since I visit Portland on a regular basis. The location is fabulous, in the Old Port, walking distance from the Harbour, good restaurants and shops. The room are clean and comfy. Front desk is friendly and tries to be helpful. But not sure I will stay there again and in fact am trying out other Portland Old Port properties.at the present time. Valet parking damaged my car. They were at a loss what to do or how to deal with it; not only that I waited 45 mins for the car (valet is only option) 3 mornings in a row after ordering it at a specific time the night before and following up in the morning. Same excuse as elsewhere in the hospitality industry, “we’re short staffed.” Turns out valet parking is leased from hotel, separate management so they take no responsibility. Although the garage attendants admitted the “damage” the valet owner and insurance company are difficult to deal with. I was told they have had several claims such as mine. Not acceptable. The only other negative which needs improvement is room service, breakfast ordered via hang tag night before never arrives or arrives close to an hour late and order is wrong. But that alone would not keep me from returning, but the garage incident sends me running the other way.

Lovely hotel in downtown Portland. Well situated, with nice communal areas including a central courtyard, this hotel is a very pleasant place to spend a few days. The hotel breakfast is exceptionally good! Friendly staff too. I would stay here again without hesitation.

I am very disappointed with my stay I had here. I picked this hotel because of location, covered valet parking and previous reviews. The valet service was good, sadly someone did hit the rear of my car trunk lift, minor but still, will require touch up paint. Check in was OK. I was early, I went to lunch and walked around. My room was a queen with city view, that equaled overlooking rooftops and a loud exhaust fan that smelled like fried food. Someone previous to me must have not been cool enough, there was a portable AC unit in one window, not installed well, gapping job, again the fried food smell overwhelming. I personally removed unit and shut window tight. The two bedside tables were backwards, the USB ports on the outside rather than inside. The bedding was not what I expected, not $500 a night quality. At one point I requested an extra blanket, I was given choices, I said a down duvet would be great, I heard the word down by the young front desk man. I received at 100% polyester blanket that was paper thin. I was on the 4th floor where the pantry is located off elevators, when I arrived it looked well stocked with water and pre packaged food. The next two days it was empty , I asked for water, was told it would be refilled, didn’t happen. Freezer for offered bags of ice was broken when I arrived, still not working when I left. I was disappointed. The cleanliness factor missing, the room was tired looking, stained furniture etc. Honestly, I won’t repeat this hotel.

This is our second stay at this hotel, last time was exactly seven years ago. First thing we noticed was how dated the room was, everything is dingy and cringy. Wear and tear is evident everywhere, stained upholstery, chip furnishings even the toilet looked abused. The bathroom had only two lights, flanking the mirror with a strong yellow cast but dim light. The shower looked dark and dirty with a cheap vinyl curtain and no lighting. The shower head was plastic and literally had no pressure so you couldn’t wash off any soap. Everything ing this room was at least thirty years old. Best of all, NO SMART TV! We had to watch shows on an iPad. I mean, this is a luxury hotel? There was no closet, just an armoire, no robes or slippers, things you’d expect at this price. We ordered room service and food was cold, flavorless and on par with a bad school cafeteria lunch. The only positive was the employees were nice.

My wife and I stayed there while celebrating our 25th anniversary. The staff was very friendly and they upgraded our room. We enjoyed drinks on the patio area and great blueberry pancakes for breakfast. When we did have an issue with our room’s ac, they moved us to another room right away. The location is great for just walking around with everything just so close. We plan on coming back next year.

The hotel was clean and the room was adequate. It is centrally located. The fire pit outside was a nice touch and the restaurant and bar was pleasant and the food good. We had issues on check out with the bill, so stand your ground, we were very dissapointed with their stance and had to get our travel agent involved to resolve the issue.

Too many dogs. Noisy. Barking well into the evening and then recommencing again at 6:30 AM. Hotel apologized and said they sent security but claimed they could not locate the dogs. Never offered a relocation or rebate.

Paid nearly $700 for one night! Sooo NOT worth it! Mind you: No waterfront view, no free breakfast/ (not even continental), no free parking, free snacks left out were prepackaged cookies and prepackaged muffins! Why not just have a vending machine to make more profit! Ugggh! For this price point it was so disappointing!
