The Portland Regency Hotel and Spa garners accolades for its professional and attentive staff, which greatly enhances guests' stays. Its prime location is a hit among travelers, offering easy access to Portland's dining, shopping, and harbor attractions. The hotel's elegant ambiance, paired with luxurious amenities including a spa, adds to its charm, although opinions on value and cleanliness show some variation, with room upgrades and thoroughness of cleaning occasionally falling short. Despite this, the majority of guests find the rooms comfortable and well-appointed.

The Portland Regency was classy and we experienced wonderful service throughout our stay. After checking in with attentive and helpful front desk and valet staff, we had a drink at Ironside where there bartender was very knowledgeable about whiskey. The room was very comfortable and clean. It seemed every staff member asked about our stay and if there was anything we needed. We had an amazing breakfast at 1985 where the professionalism was again obvious. The hotel is amazingly walkable to enjoy downtown Portland. We will definitely stay again!

We have visited the Armory Lounge in the past and enjoy the ambiance and great selection of martinis. This visit we booked the couples massage in the hotel spa. Bre and Fiona were our masseuses. We chose the 80 minute deep tissue. We were both very pleased with the massages. The room was a good temperature, with perfectly heated beds and soothing spa music in the background. After the massage we enjoyed the locker room sauna and steam rooms. There is also a co-ed area that has a jacuzzi which we did not use because we did not bring bathing suits. Relaxing spa date.

My wife and I stayed at the Regency a few days ago and the experience was near perfect. The check-in/check-out process, the auto valet procedure were very well handled and efficient. The room was spacious, clean, comfortable and well appointed. This is an older building and has that gracious, elegant style I prefer. The location was exactly right as one can walk to the heart of the Old Port which was within a couple of blocks. I would recommend the Regency and will stay there next time I am in Portland.

Perfect place for comfort, luxury and History! Inside the old former portland Armory. We had a King room with lots of space and good sized bathroom. Luxury soaps provided in room. Spa available if wanted but we did not use it. Dining outdoors weather permitting and indoors at Armory Lounge. We paid for the Breakfast package which was breakfast for two up to 40 each off a huge selection of offerings which is served in the Eighteen95 dining room. The Hostess and waitress were kind helpful and we had great conversations with both of them. we stayed on May 30th just one night. You are in old Port when you stay here and easy walking all around you. Parking is only 25 a night. The Valet Person parked our car at noon and assisted in us being able to check in early as our room was ready early. The Armory restaurant we used to eat an early dinner and used it a second time a few hours later for dessert. Cant say enough good things about this beautiful Historic place! All of the departments were helpful kind and so welcoming! Valet in particular went above and beyond! valet allowed us to leave our car an extra two hour when we went to art museum the next day. When we came back from museum he saw us coming and without being asked he knew our car and went and got it for us. Housekeeping greeted us in the morning and when we checked in made sure we had plenty of soap and made sure I had feather free pillows. this is the best place to stay in Old Port and the place to stay if you want to be treated Like you are not another number but a person with care and attention to every detail! If You want a balcony room they do cost a bit more, we did not get one of those but they did look nice.

From the moment we walked in the door we felt welcome and appreciated. The staff is warm and friendly and does ever and does everything it can it can to make your stay relaxing and comfortable. Kylie greeted us at the front desk with a friendly warm smile and a great attitude. You could tell she really enjoyed her job and believed that the property was the best place in Portland. Our room was very spacious and clean with a king size bed made up with a fluffy comforter and lots of pillows. The bathroom was very large and well lit...even with a light up makeup mirror! It had a great shower too. The view from our friends' balcony was a great way to appreciate the ocean view. Coffee was provided in the morning and there is a small convenient restaurant in the hotel for a tasty breakfast. The fitness facility is very large with a variety of equipment for both cardio and strength training. You will certainly need to make use of that to work off to work off all the calories from the delicious food in this city you will devour for breakfast, lunch & dinner. In the evening when we needed help planning the next day or directions, Summer (also at the front desk) was extremely helpful. I totally recommend this hotel and would stay here again in a heartbeat.

My husband and I stayed here in early June and had a balcony room - from what I could tell, not many hotels in Old Port offered balconies so I was happy to have one for our stay. Their location is as good as it gets for Old Port! Their valet service to/from the airport was a nice amenity and they also offer valet if you need a ride somewhere. Their valet staff was always very helpful and a pleasure to chat with.

Room service was very quick for when we wanted something on the fly and they had a few different on site cocktail spots too!

Our room faced a parking garage and we were near a bar where the street noise carried up to the balcony but it was nice one night to hear their jazz music. Once we had our balcony door closed though, our room was quiet so the happenings nearby didn’t keep us up in the least.

This is definitely a more old school classic hotel and I’ve seen reviews where they referred to this as a tired property. Meh - maybe a little bit. I wouldn’t call it trendy, but it definitely offered a lot and was clean, etc. So the tired didn’t really bother me.

We booked our stay before the restrictions lifted quite a bit so before I did book, I called with some questions. It was refreshing to get a live person immediately who could answer a few questions. We encountered nothing but wonderful hospitality from check in to check out.

Enjoy Portland, ME. Lots to do near by and lovely/comfortable rooms with a balcony after a day exploring. If I had stayed an extra day, I would have definitely taken advantage of their spa as I heard great things about it!

I would absolutely recommend a stay here!

Let’s start with the good…
Front desk staff and valet were very kind and accommodating. Front desk helped us to print passes for Acadia and the valet was prompt, very nice and helped us unload/load all of our bags. Location was great and central to the harbor and many bars/restaurants. The bed was also very comfortable.

The cons…
We booked this hotel as part of our covid honeymoon and expected a lot more from a 4 star hotel. The room was a little dirty— the carpet was stained, the walls, doors and trim were badly scraped up and could use a fresh paint job, and the bathroom could use some updating. There was also a very odd stain on the chair in the corner that looked like someone had died in it. Around midnight, someone outside skateboarded for over an hour and the street was really loud. We could also hear neighbors coming from from a night out, which was a little surprising for a Wednesday. We only stayed a night passing through town, but it was not as advertised and we would not recommend for the price of the stay.

The hotel is in a perfect location right in the middle of Old Port. Short walks to stores, restaurants, bars and the waterfront. No need for a car once checked in. Staff was attentive and amenities were good.

The price is competitive within the area. We got a discount for the AAA rate. I think it was $380 per night.

Our room was spacious and clean. The hotel is in a historic old building. While our room was very clean which is top priority, it was worn. The walls and doors could be repainted and the bathrooms could be updated a bit. The AC was good but loud. Even with the wear and tear, we would stay again for the location and service.

The front desk staff was very nice and the room was comfortable but...
At $450/night I expect the TV to work, something better than plastic bathroom accessories, the TINIEST toileties I've ever seen at a hotel (no shampoo, just a bar of soap and enough body lotion for maybe one leg), a little soundproofing and at least free parking or breakfast. The luxury promotion of this hotel is not what you get. The toilets flushing in other rooms sound like jet engines. All of this could be overlocked of the cust wasn't so ridiculous. I expect what we got from a chain. I spent more expecting more.

I can't say enough the friendly, efficient, accommodating, and courteous staff, especially the valet service, on which we relied multiple times between check-in and check-out. The location is great for access to the shopping, dining, and sightseeing at the waterfront a couple of blocks away. (The only caveat is that the two blocks are rather steep, so that the climb may be difficult for some visitors. The waterfront hotels might be advisable in that case. But you can always stop and shop to catch your breath!)

However, we were rather disappointed in our room. I checked the website description and, to be sure, we were not promised anything that we found missing. But these days one expects a desk at which to write, use a computer, and eat. I know that we were in the old part of the hotel, but I think that a desk could be exchanged for the long, fairly useless piece of furniture under the TV. There was a small (c. 18" x 18") table at child's table height, with a hassock under it, which might not allow enough room for some adults' thighs to fit under the table. There was a stuffed chair with an ottoman which I suppose could serve as a low table if you perched on the edge of the chair. As it was, we ate our room service dinner sitting cross-legged on our beds. (Note to kitchen: how about sending two trays with any two meals to "deluxe" rooms, so we'd have some resistance when we try to cut meat on our beds?)
