Great overnight getaway to Portland to celebrate anniversary. The Blind Tiger was a beautiful, cozy and eclectic boutique hotel in the West End not too far from the Old Port, but far enough away to be quiet and peaceful. We loved our third floor fireplaced room, although the bathroom was small. The bed was comfortable and the heating worked well. We especially loved the downstairs area with plenty of seating (we liked sitting by the fireplace) and a nice dining room and pantry for breakfast and snacks. Ample snacks, teas, coffees and a machine which made espressos, Americanos, lattes, etc. Breakfast was great, with many choices! Loved talking with and getting recommendations for restaurants, etc. from Nicolette who was at the hotel desk. She was so helpful and so friendly. We felt like we were in someone's home rather than at a hotel. If we return to Portland would definitely stay here again!

Property's Favorite Review
Blind Tiger exceeded all expectations! From service, which was so kind and gracious, to the food available, to the gorgeous decor, to the comfort of our beds! I mean they had a sound machine in the room, that’s so thoughtful!!! I slept better here than I do at my own home. The breakfast was phenomenal. We were craving blueberry pie one day, and when we got to the hotel we saw they had blueberry tarts out for a treat!! We had to cancel one night of our trip sadly due to the chaos of airlines right now, and Blind Tiger was so understanding and able to accommodate us. I can’t wait to come back. My husband and I just loved the location, atmosphere, and again the yummy food and kind hosts. Thank you!

I had originally reserved a room at the Francis, but they had no hot water and very kindly arranged a room for me at the Blind Tiger. Well, I hit the jackpot! Because the hotel was not very full (apparently not many People From Away choose to visit Maine in mid-January), they upgraded me to a

Everything about this hotel was perfection. The rooms are gorgeous, and the beds are comfortable. The shared spaces are inviting and functional and they’ve thought of every detail (flavored ice cubes and stocked pantry). And the breakfast is incredible. Whether you’re booking one room or looking to book the whole thing, look no further! Book it now!

We rented the entire house (Carleton House) for a 2 day management retreat in Portland. Carleton House exceeded our expectations in its warmth, comfort, and location. The house is cozy without feeling small. All of the bedrooms have an en suite bath. We had full access to the 2 living rooms, dining room & kitchen as we rented the whole house and it was perfect for formal meeting time as well as relaxed discussions or pre-dinner cocktails. Every detail is well thought out in how Carleton House is laid out. Tammara and the team went out of their way to ensure our comfort and privacy while we held day long meetings. In the evenings we had a myriad of choices when it comes to great restaurants in Portland. Blind Tiger made excellent recommendations for us within walking distance of the house. Everything about it was perfect and I would highly recommend it for business or pleasure.

The Hotel (home) is beautiful and very welcoming. The spaces in the home have been lovingly transformed into modern day living while embracing the architecture and design of its past. Our room, the Bon Viveur was so spacious and had a private balcony. The king bed was so comfortable. We were greeted at the Guest Entry upon our arrival by Maggie. She was very professional, personable and full of knowledge and recommendations for Portland. The Continental breakfast was amazing. The fireplace in the Main Living Room is always lit and makes for a cozy lounge any time of day. I highly recommend the Danforth and would gladly stay there again. It’s like visiting a dear friends home who thinks of your every need.

Situated on the outskirts of Portland city, it was a 20 minute walk into the center for restaurants and bars. Unfortunately we had heavy luggage and our room was on the third floor without an elevator. It’s a beautiful old property that as been modernized in a contemporary manner with nice modern furniture and artwork. Our bathroom was adequate, no tub and quite small. The bed was comfortable with plenty of soft pillows. Unfortunately there was no water or tea and coffee facilities in the room, and I really love to wake up to a nice tea or coffee. Breakfast was very nice, continental ,with a good choice of sweet and savory. This hotel had a luxury price tag for the area but the luxuries were missing the mark. Overall a nice stay but not fabulous and I was excited about this stay!
