When I envisioned a cozy winter getaway in Maine, I never could have imagined just how perfect our stay at Blind Tiger would be! It was everything I wanted and more, including the fireplaces in each guest room with unlimited firewood, the “secret” attic cupola that made a perfect spot for stargazing during a snowy evening, the constantly roaring fire in the cozy living room, and even the snack pantry that was stocked full of local baked goods, snacks and soft drinks—(free cold brew and Maine Root soda!!!) and I can’t forget the yummy breakfast spread that was set out each morning with fresh baked goods, build-your-own bagel and oatmeal fixings, and fresh fruit. Those blueberry scones were so good! Blind Tiger was a perfect spot for exploring downtown Maine (5-15 minute walk or drive from all of the best spots). I will say, since this is a restored 1800s mansion, the creaky floors come with the territory, so if you are a light sleeper I would recommend booking a top floor room—we stayed in Green Eyes which was on the top floor and LOVED IT! It was spacious with a walk-in closet and large bathroom, and the decor was so calming. This is definitely one of the most romantic and cozy getaways we have been on—thank you for exceeding expectations!

Property's Favorite Review
Blind Tiger exceeded all expectations! From service, which was so kind and gracious, to the food available, to the gorgeous decor, to the comfort of our beds! I mean they had a sound machine in the room, that’s so thoughtful!!! I slept better here than I do at my own home. The breakfast was phenomenal. We were craving blueberry pie one day, and when we got to the hotel we saw they had blueberry tarts out for a treat!! We had to cancel one night of our trip sadly due to the chaos of airlines right now, and Blind Tiger was so understanding and able to accommodate us. I can’t wait to come back. My husband and I just loved the location, atmosphere, and again the yummy food and kind hosts. Thank you!

What an unexpected treat! We loved the Blind Tiger. Check-in was warm and welcoming. The living spaces were so comfortable, and the fire in the fireplace made relaxing in those areas extra special. Even the fireplace in our room was usable. Breakfast was excellent, and so were the snacks in the cupboard (including Bit O' Honey and Goetz candies!!

This modern boutique hotel, in a fascinatingly quirky building, is amazing. This house has quite a history, from the speakeasy in the basement to the "door that goes nowhere". The woodwork is beautiful to see and touch. But there are plenty of modern amenities as well. Set several blocks away from the hustle & bustle of Old Port and downtown, it offers so much. First - parking! Believe me, parking in Portland can be a challenge, so having dedicated parking space is a big deal. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. Our room was on the third floor, well away from any traffic noise. The breakfast buffet was delicious, with many kinds of fruit, baked goods, and even a make-you-own breakfast salad for those who like a savory option. Downtown is just a ten minute walk, for shopping, dining, and sightseeing. We never bothered to drive anywhere, since we could reach it easily on foot.

From the moment you arrive on property, it is nothing short of amazing. The attention to detail within every bit of this hotel is incredible. Upon arrival, the staff were so sweet and beyond helpful in every aspect. Our suite was clean, crisp and absolutely beautiful. I couldn't of asked for something more perfect. The best part was having our very own roof deck to sit out and enjoy each others company. The breakfast provided each and every morning was not only aesthetically pleasing, but delicious. I will absolutely return to Blind Tiger any chance I get. Just perfect in every single way!

Blind Tiger, besides being everything you see on their site is very welcoming with deep attention to detail and an amazing breakfast! Super friendly and a highlight of our trip. The wood burning fireplace was a amazing and just cool enough on two nights to use it! A second floor sunroom for coffee in the morning was great. It’s a very special place. Thank you!!

We came for an overnight stay but wish we had been able to stay longer. The Blind Tiger staff were super accommodating and friendly. The hotel has the right mix between feeling like a B&B (warm, intimate spaces in an elegant 1823 home setting) and a boutique hotel (modern amenities and bathrooms). The bed linens were noticeably comfortable as was the bed. The rooms have blackout shutters and the streets were quiet. They have a stocked pantry with an espresso machine always available. There were lots of local artisanal snacks and beverages in the pantry for their guests. The renovations of this 200 year old home were exquisitely designed and they have off street parking on the property. This gets a 5 star rating from me!

We spent two nights at Blind Tiger, in the room named "Green Eyes" and loved it. Super comfortable king bed, working fireplace, plenty of storage space, quiet neighborhood yet walking distance to all attractions. Staff is friendly and helpful. We enjoyed hanging out in the living room area in the afternoon and helping ourselves to the free plentiful snacks and beverages. Breakfast is a nice Continental buffet. Overnight oats were super yummy. Be aware there is no elevator—not a problem for us but good to know.

Hotel was very charming, in a great location, and very comfortable. Stayed in the Bon Vivant so that our son could sleep on the pull out couch. Plenty of space, great view, and lots of light. The 24/7 self-service snack/drink pantry was a really nice touch that we appreciated and made good use of. Hotel staff, Nicolette and Tammara, really made the visit excellent--got our room ready early and prepared for our 3 year old, and set out a special early breakfast for our child every morning. They gave great recommendations and just pushed the visit over the top to an excellent and relaxing stay. Would definitely stay there or in another Lark property in the future.
