Detailed Reviews
This is a review for the Restaurant at Shin Pond Village, not the lodging. We flew our float plane into the adjacent dock, which is set up well for sea planes, unlike most docks. It is a short walk up the hill to the restaurant.
It is t casual fare, but everything was tasty, with large portions, and very reasonably priced. We have been there before and will return!

We had such a great time here. Part of our family had a campsite, the other a cabin. Cabin was perfect for the 4 of us. We were there during Patten Days. The staff at Sin Pond Village were great! Rented side by sides & had a great ride! Also rented knacks and spent a beautiful day on the upper "pond". Will definitely be back!

Every year we spend a lot of time in this little place. They are always friendly, have excellent ice cream and other food. And you can fill up the gas tank, get a few beers ans some light groceries to go . Check out the patten trail maps and enjoy some black raspberry or cotton candy ice cream ( the kids favorite )

I would not recommend visiting during the pandemic. The staff at the indoor check-in desk/ice cream bar/gift shop counter were not wearing masks. During check-in and check-out, we saw a few different unmasked employees (and never saw an employee with a mask). It felt like they have no regard for the safety of the guests.

Very nice cabin. We appreciated the air conditioning. The beds had foam mattresses and were not comfortable and they were just double beds, pretty small for a couple. The cabin could have been cleaner; there were fingerprints on the microwave and on some dishes. With COVID still around we felt a bit uncomfortable with the cleanliness. This is probably a good place to stay if you like ATVs, otherwise you might want to find someplace quieter.

OK, I don't mean that Shin Pond Village is Club Med with a meal plan, but it is a destination in and of itself with roomy, tastefully decorated cabins, a restaurant to catch a meal or an ice cream, enough provisions to make up for what you forgot, and even beach access on the pond. We were just in need of a base camp to explore Katahdin Water and Woods and the Matagamon entrance to Baxter and "the Village" more than fit the bill. Check out their website which offers great info on hikes in the area.

What a pleasant surprise when we opened the door to our suite. Small cabin atmosphere, comfy porch with a fantastic view- plenty of trail to walk on and 2 ponds (lakes where I come from) to kayak or canoe- they provide both- Baxter State park just up the road and the friendliest people you'd ever want to meet running the place. Several beautiful cabins to rent on the property. This is a gem and we really lucked out finding it!

+1
Our kids smiled the entire time and did not want to leave. Shin Pond Village was very accommodating. We have stayed with them 2 Summers in a row now and the kids beg to go back. The rentals are clean!

We camped here at a no amenity tent site with our ATV and utility trailer and tent.
The owners and employees of the Villiage were all extremely nice and helpful people. The campground and property is ATV friendly, we were allowed to use our ATV to go to the store, bath house, dumpster. Two ATV trails leave directly from the property. The store had more than enough of everything including some souvenirs. The restaurant was excellent. The only tiny complaint I have is that everything is funneled through one cashier, ice cream, restaurant, gas, and store - So sometimes the wait was long in line. But, you are up North where things are relaxed so we didn't let our patience get us.
Non-ethanol gas was available. We will definitely be back.

Nice clean cabins, lake house, restaurant, nicest people who run the place!! Been having family reunions there for years and always look forward to it. Close to north entrance of Baxter State Park. Lots of things to do outside, or just sit on the porch on a rainy day :)
