The stay was ok, except for, the bed was like laying on a board. Was quoted a price over the phone, & payed it for a couple of weeks & then was told, was misquoted on the price. Had to pay new higher price plus difference on what had been owed. Not cool! Staff was wonderful, but, too pricey!

Hotel's Favorite
Convenient location just off the highway in Orono. From the name and some of the room pictures, expected a rustic inn but the Black Bear is totally modern ... with rustic touches. Unique touch ... a cuddly little black bear in every room! (We liked the bear so much we bought 2 of them to take home to neighborhood girls.) Front desk staff were very cheerful and helpful. Lobby was cozy with a gas fireplace and the Christmas decorations were tastefully done. Breakfast room was well stocked, with very good coffee.

We always stay here when travelling in the US. Staff are friendly, rooms are very comfortable, breakfast is great and our dog is welcome. This breakfast yesterdaybincluded a veggie quiche which was really delicious.

The walls are so thin that we could hear everything people said as the walked up and down the halls. Door slaming. The bed was very uncomfortable and the towels were falling apart. It sounded like elephants were stampedeing above us and we were on the third floor. When we arrived the front desk lady demanded my credit card even though it was the same one I had used to book the reseravtion. She took my card, put it where I could not see it and kept it there for a number of minutes. This was our third time to visit and this was the third time to have problems. I will not be back

Like sleeping on a box spring. Sooo hard. So much back pain. Awful. “Breakfast” was gross, crowded, nowhere to sit. Fruit had turned brown, cold, fake “eggs” were gross, paper plates...yeah you get the idea. Staff slow, competent, not friendly. Sound travels freely through walls and doors as well as the loud noise of people walking upstairs to keep you awake. No sleep had. Most unpleasant experience. Never again. Save your money, trust me, there had to be somewhere better!
