Poolside room #20. I was impressed with the cleanliness of the room. Yes-you are right on W Grand Ave but we chose to embrace it and enjoyed people watching from the cute porch. Close proximity to the beach was perfect. Note: there is new owners/mgmt and I’m hoping they continue to provide a clean, comfortable stay. Office is closed and check in is at Waves next door. I wonder what they will do with that space? Next time I want different building just to try another Gull room. Will be back!
The Place was clean up to date. We got the King room second floor, ocean view. That's the location you want. Hign wood ceilings and cement block walls make the place almost soundproof. The bathroom is small if you need a big bathroom this is not your place. Best for 2 people only. Also has a balcony.
They took money from my creditcard account 3 times after I cancelled the booking. When taking money from my account the first time I asked them why they took money from my account. Then they quickly took money from my account 2 more times: 1. 99,49 euro(never put back) 2. 22,24 euro (put back) 3. 75,69 euro (put back) When I requested my money back they said they already put the 99,49 back in my account. But they actually took 200 euro's from my account in total and only put 100 euro's back. No one at Booking seems to understand this, and I think this motel knows this and scams people with it. So watch out people and make sure you watch your creditcard closely if you booked with this Motel!!
First off we as a family been staying at the Gull Cottages for about 4 straight years love the location and how clean the property was. Now it has sold to a different owner and let's say it's not up to par for the course. Cottage 3 once we arrived smelled like cigarettes on the porch and living space was strong odor of marijuan. Now we are fighting ants not a few there is a colony under this place. The grounds are not the same and it shows. We will be looking elsewhere for our next vacation.
The place was immaculate. Covid restrictions are kept well in this town. Cleanest room I have ever seen. Harland was helpful anytime I needed him. Super close to the beach and a very short walk to the pier. Relaxing weekend was enjoyed by my family. Will definitely make plans to come back to The Gull. Note... Coffee makers are Keurigs. Bring your own K-Cups.
We have stayed at the Gull for several years in June and September....it is quiet and we enjoy walks in the town and nearby ocean Park...the motel is the cleanest place we visit..and we have stayed at several big chains...best western, holiday inn..the balcony rooms are grand....able to have a relaxing time talking enjoying the ocean view...the hosts Barbara and Harland are exceptional people they are quick to respond to any concerns ....we highly recommend the motel to everyone we know...their staff of energetic young people are most helpful and are always willing to make your stay enjoyable ...if you are seeking a calm quiet relaxing time at the ocean and WHO ISN'T....visit the Gull in OOB....word of caution Book early...it fills up fast....
Recently at The Gull Motel my wife and I were badly deceived. You could be next. The Gull is one of the better places to stay in Old Orchard Beach, occupying a favorable spot on the beach and conveniently located. My wife and I enjoyed a few days there last year, in a large and pleasant upstairs room, only a few hundred feet from the sand. We enjoyed it. Recently we booked back into the Gull for a three night stay. As it is high season, we were told that our only choice was a "poolside" room. This term was used a few times. According to all reasonable definitions of English language, this means that the room would be beside a pool. We figured it might be a bit noisy, with kids splashing about, but that was okay. We drove five hours to get there, and upon arrival were told again that we were booked into a "poolside" room. Looking out the office window I could see an un-occupied room on one of the busiest and noisiest street corners in town, and said to the proprietor "Do you mean the room on the busy street corner?" He replied tersely that "the building is beside the pool." True enough, the opposite side of building in which our room was placed was indeed next to a pool. But on the other side of the building, and absolutely not at all beside any pool, was a room badly located on the very busy and heavily trafficked corner of West Grand Avenue and Atlantic Avenue, only feet away from a busy train track. We'd been totally deceived. In high season the rooms in Old Orchard are often totally booked up. We moved into the room, and entered a very different space from what we had previously experienced. Clean enough, the room lacked the space, the height, the amenities on our previous room. We tried it for a night, and found the heavy traffic noise and conversations from the street intolerable. In the morning I sought out the proprietor and explained that the "poolside" room was not poolside at all, and that we had driven five hours to stay in a noisy, desirable space. This guy apparently never received the memo about satisfying customers, but chose instead to become angry and hostile. He flushed bright red, clenched his jaw, and suggested that we should leave and he'd refund our money. We chose not to deal with this guy's hostility and took the refund. He offered that he didn't want us to book there again. No worries, we will never do so, but we will repeat what happened again and again for years to come. So here is the deal. Overall The Gull is a nice place. It is in a good spot. And as long as everything is perfect and you have no complaints, you may have a pleasant stay. But do be aware that the proprietor does in fact deceive, is incapable of admitting a wrong, and instead of owning up to his dishonesty, he chooses to get mad. This guy has real anger management issues, and does not give a fig about customer satisfaction. I stay in hotels and lodgings all over the world and experience a very broad variety of amenities and levels of comfort. But I have never previously been so directly lied to about a booking. A street corner room, photo attached, is not a poolside room. The customer is in fact right. Selling a "poolside" room that is really a horrific, loud street corner room is utterly dishonest. If you choose to book into The Gull, make absolutely certain that you know exactly what you are getting. You will certainly find no satisfaction whatsoever dealing with the proprietor is there is a problem. Caveat emptor.…
The motel is a short walk to the beach and minutes to the pier. The property is well maintained and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff and owners were always ready to make things right. We have already booked for a week in 2019. They also have good wi-fi and a pool if you prefer instead of the ocean. Always get a good nights sleep because it is so quiet.
If you want a very clean, like new place to stay in, with the most friendly owners, you have to stay here! We stay in the cottages with some family staying in the motel and inn every summer. The cottages are only steps from the ocean! Prices are very reasonable. Having stayed in many other places here in OOB before finding The Gull, we know this is the best!! Nothing we stayed in came close to the quality stay we get at The Gull. Never, ever have there been any trouble makers staying here that we have seen. Treat yourself and give them a try. There is a reason they have so many repeat customers! Well be back next year!
Another year and another week at The Gull - another terrific experience. Barb and Harlan do a terrific job owning and operating The Gull. The rooms are very nice and extraordinarily clean. Their entire staff is very friendly and accommodating. The location is great as it a very short walk to the ocean and to the pier. They also have a nice pool is you prefer to take a quick dip or catch some rays! As long as I can make it back to Maine I will always stay at the Gull.
