Detailed Reviews
From the moment we checked in to the morning we left, everything exceeded my expectations. I am used to over-paying for beach resorts in New Hampshire and southern Maine with $200-$300 a night getting you basic accommodations but this was a treat. The grounds were beautiful and clean! We didn't want to pay extra for ocean view and no need to as the lawn area had nice lounge chairs to sit and enjoy the ocean. So close to the beach and shopping. Masks were required in common areas and many hand sanitizers were installed near the main inn. They modified the breakfast area and had servers preparing your breakfast of fresh fruit, breads and yogurt. The pool is small but so nice and warm. Parking was assigned and very close to our room. I cannot wait to go back and visit!

Because of a combination of factors, I had not traveled in over 3 years. I was in desperate need of a relaxing vacation and Terrace By The Sea was the perfect location. When I walked in our room and saw the ocean view I could instantly feel my tension easing. The room itself was very clean and well maintained. A couple of spots where the paint had peeled but otherwise very nice. A nice area outside our room where we could sit and enjoy the views. It wasn't exactly a balcony because it wasn't private but more of a deck shared by all the rooms but we were the only ones taking advantage while we were there. There was a nice size refrigerator in the room with a working freezer which is something I find to be hit or miss with hotel refrigerators. I was a little concerned about water pressure from the looks of the showerhead but I didn't need to be, it actually was better than my water pressure at home. The staff was amazing. Check in was a breeze. There is a wonderful porch overlooking the water set up for breakfast but we opted to eat outside as the tables on the porch were a little close for our comfort but mostly because it was a gorgeous day and we wanted to spend the time outside anyway. A staff member was drying off lounge chairs and immediately set us up with a table and two dry chairs. He also gave us lots of helpful information about things to do in Ogunquit. While I'm normally a fan of sleeping in on vacation, set your alarms early and walk the block to the beach and watch the sunrise. You won't be disappointed. This was my first trip to Maine but hope to return for a longer visit. If I return to Ogunquit, I will definitely be staying here again. One bit of advice, I normally travel with someone with mobility issues (I wasn't on this trip) and some of the rooms are only accessible by stairs. If mobility is a concern, make sure to let the staff know when making your reservation.

The Terrace looks very nice from Wharf Rd, but I have never stayed here until last week and I have been coming to Ogunquit for 3 decades. The prices for all ocean views were more than I wished to pay so I chose the one story motel section behind the main house. No view, just parking lot. I was so pleasantly pleased and surprised. We had access to all the lovely perks: swimming pool, lawn, chairs, ocean views, breakfast, tea and coffee inside main house, even the very clean and well appointed bathroom/shower attached outside for those coming back up from the water. All of the staff were professional, friendly and welcoming. We were able to park early and were called when the room was ready. Our room was clean and spacious, even if a bit worn (broken tile in bathroom, front door quick to close on you, closet door did not quite close). No matter at all with all the other excellent parts. I was more than happy with the continental breakfast. it had a wonderful selection of cold foods- yogurt, grains, fresh melons and fruit, yes and little muffins. I will definitely stay here again.

The excellent location does not make up for the worst customer service I’ve ever had and we travel as a family all the time!!! We booked a 3 night stay in a deluxe family ocean view room. It was more expensive but it was our anniversary and we didn’t get away as much this year with Covid. I was called the day before we were supposed to check in and was told they didn’t have what we booked available!!!!!! We still were able to go but in lower end rooms and we had to move rooms as they didn’t have a room available for all three nights!! I was told they would comp my first night which I accepted. When we arrived at check in the manager Tanesha explained they could not give me any refund as I was promised over the phone as I booked through booking.com. She said she would give us a gift certificate for one night free to use anytime in the future. She said when we checked out it would be ready and waiting for me. When I checked out Tanesha was nowhere to be found and the girl at the front desk told me, “sorry, I wasn’t here Friday and there’s no notes here.” So we left with no gift certificate and a big bill for a stay that was not what I paid for! I’ve never experienced such incompetence ever and the rudest staff who care less if they ruined your entire stay. STAY AWAY!!!!!!

Very nice place, beautiful views. Clean, close to marginal way and Ogunquit beach. Friendly staff , nice continental breakfast included. Very quiet, can’t hear neighboring room tv or people. If anyone up above you , you do hear footsteps. That was Only downfall.
Lots of restaurants and shops in walking distance. Would go back! The ocean heals my soul. ❤️🌊

I don't know where to begin but let me admit that after staying at the Ocean Edge Resort in Brewster, I was a bit spoiled. But as always, I always like to give a fair rating to any hotel I stay at regardless of whether or not I stayed at a better hotel before.
Lemme start here with the pros, the ocean view is spectacular. The ocean appears to be a piece of art, and the check in is very kind and friendly, and is a very short walk to the beach.
The Cons: There is only one parking space per room, and you can only park in your designated space. As we took 2 cars, we had to find a public lot to leave the other car, and then uber to the hotel. The hotel's pool was so small that we didn't even want to use it.
The Rooms: The room I stayed in, it was dated, definitely doesn't look like it has been touched by remodeling in a while which would all in all make this hotel a lot nicer. The room we had did have a loft and had a really nice-looking Samsung TV. Not sure if it was 4K but I would assume so as it is the same model of 4K tv I have at home. Unlike a bunch of the other properties here on the Ogunquit beach, as I have stayed in pretty much all of them, this hotel does not have keycards yet, still regular keys. Regular keys for us makes a kind of a bigger problem compared to other families as we were only given 2 keys at check-in and we couldn't have 4 keys. So, we had to stay together pretty much all the time if we wanted to get in and out of the room.
So, I would personally not recommend staying here until they at least renovate the rooms and put in keycard locks on their doors to make them more secure, but for the price, if you are on a budget go for it, if you can splurge a bit more, go to the Anchorage by the Sea a bit further down on Shore Road.

We had the most wonderful stay at the Terrace by the Sea. The Inn is immaculate and the grounds are beautiful. The location is perfect-- a block from the main streets but super quiet. And you cannot beat the ocean views!
The breakfast is served on real china with real silverware. No plastic or styrofoam in sight!
I think we have found our "go to" place in Ogunquit!

My wife surprised me with a birthday stay at Terrace by the Sea, we stayed in room 233-a king ocean view suite, overlooking the beach and inlet, and the room was perfect, the view was fantastic, and a special shout-out to the Saturday desk and breakfast staff who made our stay that much more pleasant. A bonus was meeting people at breakfast who lived near us in Connecticut. A great experience. Highly recommended.

Had a delightful stay at Terrace by the Sea. The hotel is so quaint! I stayed in Room 109 in the main part of the hotel. The room was very big and exceptionally clean. I found the staff to be so friendly and awesomely accommodating. The grounds were beautifully manicured and there were plenty of seats on the lawn overlooking the beautiful ocean.
They offered a continental breakfast in the morning of different fruits, breads and cereal along with Coffee and juice. Again, the staff couldn't have been more accommodating.
I really enjoyed my weekend stay at Terrace by the Sea. This was my first trip to Maine but I can assure you that it will NOT be my last! I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again - in fact it would be my pick! Great experience from start to finish.

Hotel is clean, location is stellar, but room was a $259 per night motel. Size of room was nice, having fridge was also nice, weird closet setup and super dated furniture. Nothing on walls, no charm just plain walls, dowdy heavy curtains and a very sterile room, that had an overpowering smell of cleaning products. But the location absolutely makes up for what the room is lacking. I realize we selected a lower end room option due to budget, but there are simple things they can do to make it feel less like a super basic motel. More positives, nice front lawn seating with amazing views and beautiful porch for breakfast and really all day seating. But even that setup is very dated and furniture could use a major overhaul. Front staff woman was super friendly and quick check in, parking was easy as everyone as assigned spot and it’s right near your room. If staying here, I’d recommend NOT getting the budget option & either picking a diff spot all together or at least a diff room . We happen to be in room 120. Bur location and views are fantastic.
