We enjoyed our 2 night stay at the Black Boar Inn immensely. The owners showed such flexibility, allowing us to check-in early and leave our car in the lot past check-out. Breakfast was unique and delicious! The inn is in a great location, walking distance to the beach and close to many restaurants. We will stay here again next time... More

This was our first visit to this lovely B&B and we were not disappointed. The owner, Dwain, greeted us with a smile, showed us to our room and gave us a quick rundown of breakfast time and choices. We stayed in the Eloise room - bright, plenty of windows, comfortable bed and armoire for our clothes. Wifi worked fine -... More

Beautiful old inn with 5 minute walk to the world class Ogunquit beach. Dwayne, James, and Claudine are welcoming, friendly, and hospitable. Breakfasts are creative and delicious and the coffee is excellent as well. We've stayed at BBI many times and highly recommend it!

The breakfast is excellent and the owners, James and Dwight are really nice and happy to make recommendations. The rooms are nice size with queen beds and private bathrooms (with shower). Each room has it's own AC unit so you can control the temperature.... More

We rented the Beach Rose cottage for four nights - even though we live a mere 9 miles away from Ogunquit. We are having construction done to our house and we needed to move out for a few days. The cottage was perfect! Clean, comfortable, sweetly decorated with lots of little amenities like beach chairs, boogie boards, good kitchen tools... More

James and Dwayne made our stay truly delightful ! The gourmet breakfasts were outstanding, the cleanliness and coziness of the inn was so relaxing!! The bed was so comfy and the room very peaceful! We spent our first 5 days in Maine at this lovely inn right in the heart of Ogunquit. Close to beach, shopping and restaurants. We enjoyed delicious breakfasts each morning. Dwayne & Steve were the perfect hosts. We'll be sure to return!

The inn is an historic home dating back to the 1600's with all the ambience that goes with it. From its creaky wood floors to the still functioning 17th century kitchen fireplace with the swing arm cauldron hook and brick oven, the place is full of history. Enjoy one of their awesome breakfasts, then take a 2 minute walk to... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Built in 1674, with a major addition in 1720, The Black Boar Inn is the oldest structure in the Town of Ogunquit and one of the oldest wooden structures in the United States. BBI is located in the heart of the vibrant Village and only a three minute walk to one of the top rated beaches in America. The Inn offers six large bedrooms with queen beds and private en suite bathrooms with modern amenities. The Inn's common rooms (each with fireplace) offers guests with casual places to relax with family and friends. The Inn's history is truly remarkable. King James II of England (14 October 1633 - 16 September 1701) granted a plot of land in what is present day Ogunquit, Maine, to Alexandre Maxwell at some point in the mid-1600s. The Maxwell family built a home on this multi-acre plot in 1674 and lived there for about 100 years. In the mid-1700s, the home became the property of the Littlefield Family (another founding family of Wells/Ogunquit) through marriage to a Maxwell family member. Eddie Littlefield retained ownership until 1997. As the first two families cherished the property and remained ownership each for more than a century, The Black Boar Inn is now owned by only the third family in the structure's 341 year history. This Legacy Property is a truly authentic guest experience and remains a favorite choice of travellers from all parts of the world. ... more   less
